Can you not use the magical express rather than a taxi?? That would save some money there. I would also recommend bringing peanut butter and jelly in your suitcase and make sandwhiches to help save some money.

Reading this, I understand the post may be fake (imagine that?), but I still had to comment about the above...
No offense intended to the poster, but if I person is so desperate that they have to take peanut butter and jelly in a suitcase to Disney to make sure they can afford the trip, then they don't NEED to be going.

DisneyMama409 ... you were just in WDW 4 months ago and you planned a second trip when your regular budget is so rocky that a couple hundred dollars worth of emergencies turned everything upside down? My advise is not going to be popular with you or all the other people who want to "make it work" for you. My advise is to cancel your trip and re-examine your priorities. To be blunt, IMO you have no business going on two WDW trips over 5 months when you are spending every single penny you have to do so.

And before everyone jumps on the bandwagon to defend the OP, take a look at some of her previous posts as DisneyMama409 first.

And here I was looking at all the replies to get ideas as to how to skimp and save some more money... and to see if she would actually go on with trip or decide to cancel... (and what everyone else would say about it)! To think we were all duped!? .....Well some of us!

The taxi isnt for Disney. Were using magical express. The taxi is from my apartment to JFK airport ...which would be no more than 30 bucks each way.

Any public transportation options?

Sorry to hear about your budget busters!

Since you still have some time, I would recommend trying to raise money anyway you can. Sell stuff on ebay, have a yard sale, see if you can babysit or do odd jobs for friends or family. Try to scrimp on everything until your trip and see if you can come up with the money. I feel like you're too close to just give up now!!

Selling things on Ebay can work very well. I got $500 for my trip last time doing this.

In my early days before the DisBoards I was always broke when I went to Disney. Even now I never take more than about $600 with me.

Based on the ages of your kids I think you are all set. If you MUST buy soveniers for the kids there is the Disney Mart (I think) In Downtown Disney where everything is under $10.00.

Also, pack an entire suitcase with juiceboxes, water and snacks that your kids eat. I know my kids are pretty picky and want the "usual" snacks such are granola bars, goldfish crackers, etc even at Disney

Can you take some sort of public transport to the airport? It might take a bit longer but possibly doable.

I didn't see it mentioned but your taking your own stroller right? You will need it. Even if my kids walk it comes in very helpful at the airport to transport carry-ons.

Is there any family member that may be willing to donate to the Disney Fund for the kids? Or, I may get flamed here, maybe put off paying a bill in full for this month only.

I would caution the food in the suitcase, unless you were planning on taking that suitcase... just given the baggage fees as of late (unless taking Southwest). For the $25 or 35, you could probably order some stuff from Amazon or Walmart or something and have it shipped cheaper than bringing it with you AND definitely cheaper than buying it at Disney. We did this last year with baby supplies... oatmeal, diapers, etc.

There is the AirTrain straight into JFK that connects with the subway system but OP would still have to get herself and the kids to the subway station somehow (walk, bus, catch a ride with friends or cab). Honestly with 2 very small children in tow and luggage/carry-ons and a stroller then I think the cab is actually the best option in that area. The only cheaper option would be to have a friend drop them off and pick them up.

It is really good that you're thinking about this now where there is time to work this out. I have two questions that would affect my answer- do you have an emergency savings account and second are your tickets refundable? Based on this info, I would do a cost benefit analysis.

If you have emergency savings, I would pull a little and use the tips on here (no souvenirs, QSDP, etc.) to pull off a budget trip.

If you don't, I would think really seriously about cancelling.

If your tickets are refundable, that would make me think even more seriously about cancelling,

If they are not refundable, I would consider how to do the trip as cheaply as possible, try to enjoy it and then really sit down and decide if going to Disney so often is the best decision. There are medical emergencies and tires go flat and windows crack and plumbing backs up. I have had many of these situations and while they were set backs, I was glad I had emergency money to draw on for them.

If you can raise money, that would be great as well. I know sometimes I have tutored or done some part time work after my full time job teaching to make some extra fun money and if there is something you can do, this could work, but it would be tough with small kids!

Good luck with whatever you decide and just remember that your kids will get over you cancelling the trip (or could you just say "postponed" till next year or something like that?) and the most important magic is really not the magic at WDW but the magic you make for your kids each and every day at home. I am sure they love just having you spend time with them.

If money is that tight then I would cancel and reschedule. What happens if another emergency comes up before your trip? Or after? And you have no money for it? Then what? Save, save, and save more so that you have an emergency fund AND can still afford disney at the same time without going broke.

I have to agree. I personally don't think you should be spending that much on a vacation if you cannot afford it. Disney will always be there.

As I was reading through this thread I thought this sounds like something I had read before and began thinking of this poster.

2 young autistic kids, I'm assuming 2 fathers who are completely out of the picture.
An estranged abbusive family.
Can't drive, but has an irrational fear of flying.
Obsessed with Disney, WDW, DL, and DCL
Can't make ends meet, but can always afford a week long multi resort stay. Every few months, but only plans on one trip every few years.
Maybe she should've gone with the AP's back in May, seems like she'd be getting her monies worth now.
