Sounds like enough $$ to me. DDP covers food. Just don't go crazy on souvenirs.

WDW is a treat, but sometimes is necessary. One never knows if life is going to throw a curveball. Enjoy life while you can, you won't get a second chance.

Maybe you missed the OP's post that she and the kids were at WDW in April.

LOL. :lmao: It seems like that's the attitude that's got her in a pinch to start with.
How about we try some thing new. Save a nice emergency fund first, so when life throws you that curveball, you can pretend your Ryan Howard and still hit it out of the park. THEN, go on vacation without having to worry that an ice cream cone is going to cause you to break out the credit cards.

:confused3

how did you know it was another poster? I am going to have to do some searching on old posts I guess...I'm confused.

Well it's her money so ultimately it's her choice. :) I think if she's already paid for everything she probably won't get it all back so she should go. I know I would. I would just budget like crazy to make it happen, in fact we did in June. We had a week booked in Vegas (with the kids) and I lost my job, if we had cancelled we would have been out more $$ then we thought was reasonable so we went, we had a great time, saw some free shows (did timeshare presentations to get free show tickets) and ate in our room a few nights. We had $50 to gamble with and that was it, we actually ended up winning $20 so we did fine. That whole vacation cost us very little in the end and we are very glad we went.

OP get toys and gifts at the dollar store or check your Target's dollar spot, a lot of times they will have stuff there. With 2 small girls you probably have a Polly Pocket or similar doll, when we first did DL I took a bunch of things with us and our first night there Tinkerbell came by and left gifts for the girls. I took some glitter and a Polly Pocket shoe and made footprints by the goodies, the girls loved that Tink came by and gave them presents. I would also take water bottles into the parks with me and just refill them all the time. What about cancelling 1 of the TS meals? I know at DL we saved $$ by eating 1 TS meal and sharing other meals. We had APs for a while so we didn't eat TS every trip, heck we didn't eat in the parks every trip and we almost never ate bfast in them. I really do think you'll be OK with $200, just be smart about using it, you'll be surprised at how much you'll have even without a lot of $$ to spend. :)

Spending money that you do not have on a Disney trip necessary that is really funny. You are joking right?? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am in favor of enjoying life while you're living it. However, some people use that as an excuse for making irresponsible financial decisions.

Apparently great minds think alike because I did not get past the first post and I knew already it was the one and only disneymama409!!!!! :rotfl:

Op if you do not have enough money than cancel your trip and reschedule your kids will get over it and it will be a good life lesson on personal and financial responsibility.

Just did a little sleuthing myself and discovered that DisneyMama409 was also JustAGirl back in the day. Do a search if you're bored in the rain like me. She is also planning a cruise in May or Dec of 2011.

If this were a once in a lifetime event I could see saying go ahead and be wreckless but they were just there for 5-7 days and are planning a cruise sometime next year I believe. No need to break the bank to have two week long trips to Disney in one year.

Not talking about fixing the car or having a tooth pulled. Those are inconveniences...

If trip is paid for, go. Some folks go several times a year. Its their money. If going makes them happy... who am I to judge.

Well, I am sad to hear that what I also suspected was indeed, most-likely true! :( Hopefully someone who is truly looking for ways to save money on a Disney trip can use the wonderful tidbits of advice that was offered here....

That's just plain sad....

I think if you do some reading of former posts of the other IDs of this OP then you can see why this is a hot button issue.

Some people work hard to save money to go to WDW and some are able to go through the generosity of those that work so hard and pay taxes. That's about all I can probably say without getting points. :rolleyes1

Ok where's my flame suit....
Yes I do agree with this statement.

Many people hate my way of thinking, but if they hate me under this screen name, then they're still going to hate me under a different screen name. My opinions and way I post isn't going to change if I put a different name...
It also confuses the heck out of me that people can figure these things out. I mean, I'm on the Dis all the time, but I don't think I would've ever made the connection, I don't always follow along that well.

Didn't mean to stir up the hornets nest. Had a little time, so thought I'd poke around the boards to see what I'd find.

BTW - love the Army button.:thumbsup2

Can you not use the magical express rather than a taxi?? That would save some money there. I would also recommend bringing peanut butter and jelly in your suitcase and make sandwhiches to help save some money.

My mom just called and said she will give me 50 bucks for the kids souvies! I decided im going to buy dd a princess crown and a mickey barrete and do an updo like the bibbidi bobbidi boutique so she's going to be THRILLED.

To keep her hair up longer you can find the strong hold gel or glue at your local walmart or store. It is not very expensive and holds nicely. We use it in my dd's hair often even when not at disney.

Just wanted to say I agree with your statement. I don't think you should be reckless & go to Disney when you can't pay your bills but if it's something you want to do, I think you should really try to scrimp & save to do it. I have someone in my family with terminal stomach cancer who has young kids & it just puts things in perspective. Ok, back to the madness of this thread (although I do appreciate the tips because I'm trying to plan a once-in-a-lifetime trip for my own family since my DH hates Disney & will only go back once)!

No reason why you would need a flame suit on this thread. If you do then I better don one too! :thumbsup2

Some posters are just more memorable than others I guess - especially ones with posts like the ones posted in the past by this OP under the other IDs.

No hornets nest stirred here. I would agree with your post if it were to a poster without the history of this OP. :thumbsup2

Thanks about the Army button. DH has been in over 15 years. Guess in a way the US taxpayers pay for our trip, too. Thanks to all of you!

disappointed that the OP would waste people's time. I enjoy using the boards for ideas and tips to save money. I can't imagine having the time or energy to waste like the OP is. To think so many people tried to help and it was a waste of their time! Glad someone caught the OP. Too bad we all tried to help!
