Oh Boy...I dont have enough money for Disney

It's just me and my two kids. They are 3 and 5. We will be staying at Pop Century September 12-18th .

We went to WDW in April...I overbudgeted! I bought $1000 spending money for a 5 night trip!

Wait a second ... DisneyMama409 ... you were just in WDW 4 months ago and you planned a second trip when your regular budget is so rocky that a couple hundred dollars worth of emergencies turned everything upside down? My advise is not going to be popular with you or all the other people who want to "make it work" for you. My advise is to cancel your trip and re-examine your priorities. To be blunt, IMO you have no business going on two WDW trips over 5 months when you are spending every single penny you have to do so.

It doesn't really matter to me what other people do with their money, as long as it isn't affecting me. If I had waited until I had an emergency fund and all this stuff people talk about, I would never have gone to WDW, or for that matter had a child. Believe me, if I ever posted a "Should I go" thread, I would get shot down, so I don't ask.I will scrimp and save when DS is out of the house in a few years; until then, I am savoring every moment he is willing to spend with me. I pay my bills and I deal with emergencies when they come up.

Whether or not the OP is for real, lots of people can use the info on how to save money, so I don't feel it's wasted.

I budgeted my trip PERFECTLY ...Ideally I was supposed to have $300 in disney gift cards and around $500 cash spending money. However I had several money emergencies these past couple of months and now I have pratically nothing to take to Disney

I booked our trip and paid it off as well as our airfare. It's just me and my two kids. They are 3 and 5. We will be staying at Pop Century September 12-18th . I have the DDP for the 12th-17th and a room only on the 18th (flight prices was really high and i thought i had enough money to cover the extra day)

My adr's are all planned out.The bad news is ....i only have a $150 gift card (to cover tips /extra snacks and drinks) ...and I will only have $200 cash It's like nothing . I put aside 20 bucks for mousekeeping...so that dwindles it down to $180...than the taxi to airport back and forth is another $60 ....than the kids will want food at the airport while were waiting for our flight...another $20 atleast . Not to mention i have to pay 0OP for our final day meals as well as departure day ...i feel like its too much stress and there's not enough money...

should i cancel the whole entire trip...or is there a way to do this and stretch that penny until it bleeds?
My kids are so excited to go see mickey mouse and my dd will flip if i tell her she isnt going. I cant believe i budgeted so poorly

My vote is to reschedule. I haven't read all the replies so I apologize if this has been said before. I don't think you budgeted poorly, stuff happens & life throws you curve balls.

I would be too nervous to go on vacation if I have to watch every single cent like that. While I generally have a budget when I travel, no way could I go on vacation if buying my kid an extra ice cream cone would break the budget.
For example, a lot of people suggest sharing meals, well what happens if your kids actually eat a full meal and sharing isn't possible. I know every one in my family from the time they were 7, fully wolfed down their meals. Does some one not get enough because it'snot in the budget?

I'd rather wait, save up and have a nice cushion for unexpected "treats"

That's what I was wondering! You went to Disney in April and you have so little extra money, but you're going again? Sorry, but this is just totally irresponsible, especially with 2 young children. Cancel! We only go every other year...we do one big trip every other year, not because we don't have the money, but because we are saving for things like house repairs, new cars to replace the old ones, and EMERGENCIES we cannot foresee.

It's really a personal decision. I would rather go once a year with a budget, stay offsite, drive instead of fly, etc. vs. going once every three years and going all out. With a 3 and 5 year old, I am sure there are some meals they could share, especially at a TS, like most people are suggesting.

Op if you do not have enough money than cancel your trip and reschedule your kids will get over it and it will be a good life lesson on personal and financial responsibility.

If this is true, then I agree there is no need to take another trip so soon, especially if you are broke. Put the money into an emergency fund.

I really dont want to skip a bill. I have the bills budgeted already . My ds's good stroller broke down ..literally fell apart a few weeks ago. Im really tall and i havent been able to find a replacement. My mom ordered a stroller for me. I got it and it was SO short. Im 6"2! I decided to rent a stroller for orlando stroller rentals...the one with the height adjustable bar so thats 85.60 (I budgeted that along with the bills) My ds just turned 3 and he doesnt use a stroller at all at home anymore so we only need it for Disney.

instead of renting one, go to your local ToysRus or Walmart and buy a cheap umbrella stroller for less than $20- then buy those cheap extenders they have for the handles if you need it. Frankly,if it was me,and my budget was this tight, I'd lean over and push the stroller,and save a LOT of money for my other things on vacation.
Also,there are MANY people (dis experts) who don't tip mousekeeping. I know it can be a hot topic,but when the budget looks like yours......
