Anyone else with me?

Our dates were not solidified until a few weeks ago, so I unfortunately was not able to book far out to get the early savings. We are going in August, so we don't have a lot of time to work with, but I am set on getting us the best flight rates as possible in this short time frame.

I am using an app called SkyScanner. I choose the flights I am interested in and it will let me know when the rates go up or down. Any other tips?

And who else gets obsessive with checking if rates have gone up or down? :)

I definitely get obsessive with flight prices. I'm constantly checking them when I have a set of dates in mind. Sometimes I even check flight prices before dates are solidified to help me choose when to go :lmao:

i've been checking flight prices for Oct.26-Nov.3 since last year.. LOL!

i signed up for airfarewatchdog to help keep track.. but i mostly just delete cookies and check at work everyday.. LOL!

I just recently found out that flightnetwork.com has "price protection." You can book, and if the flight goes down in price, they give you the difference in website credit. You can only do the adjustment once though. I booked for California through them, and just go on each day to check for differences.

I had the same symptoms as you .... but unfortunately, this disease grew worse ... I now check flights from YHZ, BGR, PWM, MHT, PVD, BOS and yes, even EWR. So far, I've only found one cure .... pack your bags honey, we are heading to Disney! :thumbsup2

Did you read the fine print on this? I think the price has to drop more than the cost to change the flight for you to get the credit. For example, if you booked an Air Canada flight they charge you $150 to change your ticket (unless you paid for the one that allows changes), so the price of your flight would have to drop by more than the $150 to get any kind of credit. At least that's my understanding of how it works.

I second setting up alerts with Airfare Watchdog. I did use Skyscanner to check out flights, but found when I actually went to book any of the "lowest fares" it would tell me they were unavailable, so I'm not sure it's worth the time.

I've heard Tuesdays are the best days to book. Like you all, I just search every site possible on a daily basis and when I find a price I can live with I buy...and never look again! lol

I checked out Airfare Watchdog, but the alerts seem very general, I did not see an option to give specific dates, only the cities I am traveling to and from.

Am I missing something?

I booked last year through Orbitz because they also offer "price protection" where if anyone books the same trip at a lower cost, they refund you the difference. It never happened though, because they consider the same trip to be identical RT flights. So if someone booked the same departure flight for $75 less than me but were taking a different return flight, it doesn't count. I haven't found a "price protection" plan that really works the way you think it should yet.

It's okay, I only have general alerts too but when I get a general alert, i delete all the cookies from the computer and check the flight company websites.

So far it seems like southwest is giving me the lowest (factoring in the free luggage:cool1:) but i do a simple search on hotwire as well
