Well, last week's training was not my best:(. I didn't run Thursday because I was still feeling chest congestion and Saturday was flipped with Sunday because we took the kids down to WDW for the day and I knew I couldn't get a LR in at the resort. Saturday I got up at 5 with the goal of running 14. Ended up cutting it to 12 because the humidity was so high it actually started raining without clouds!!!! My energy was gone by 7 but I roughed out the last 5. Ugh. Well, Sunday wasn't much better. Plan was for 7 at race pace. Was able to do 4 at recovery pace before calling it quits. The humidity in Orlando was worse than at home!!! 94% when I started. I only ended up doing >23 miles for the week and I was supposed to do 35. Not good. Hoping this week is better since my chest is clearing up.

Aren't these weekly mileage numbers for good weather conditions not high temperatures and humidity. My philosophy is to not stress out about slower pace or fewer miles during our Fl. summer weather. Better to have cut the training short than to have injured yourself.

p.s.- I was out of the house at 2:15am last Sunday when I went for my 20 miler.

So DS really wants to run the full...ugg. Ran my first marathon at Disney in Jan and I really thought (and still do) that one would be enough. He wants me to do it too. Anyway, I have clicked all the options on the "new" runDisney site and can't find host hotels, but seems to remember they all are. Help?

I will not run the whole thing and will not put in the training I did last year if this happens and I will enjoy all the entertainment, but DS will go all out. He said he would train in December when he is on break from college. HaHa!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

All the resorts are "host" hotels so you can stay anywhere:). Have fun and enjoy the fanfare! I too am not running for time this year. I am running NYC marathon in November so Disney is just for the experience this time.

True, that's why I cut everything short:). I do need to get the long ones in though, I am running NYC in Nov and need to be prepared!
2am!!! Ouch! My 5am start seems so late now;).

Have not been back here since mid July, how did that happen!?!?!?!

I am booked at Art of Animation, SO excited about that, have all of our dinner plans booked, including the 3.5 hours on the phone this morning to book Be Our Guest!
I am running the Full and dd and I are running the 5K. SO excited about that!

I read about 40 pages back about not losing weight while training. I have been watching my food, sometimes too much I think, and my weight loss has not been good. Body changes, tho, are definitely apparent, so i am mostly happy about that!
I am following Galloway's plan, just finished week 7. I am not evry good at walking, I have mostly been running, unless it is too hot or humid. I plan to stop for some of the characters, if the lines are decent and at some landmarks. I am in it to finish, not to finish well, lol. I run an 11-12 minute mile so i will have plenty of time to stay ahead of the sweepers!
I have 3 Halfs between now and Disney, so I am hoping that will keep me on the right path, this will be my first (and probably only) marathon, I cannot wait to cross that finish line!

FYI- if you used Disney's automated system to book Be Our Guest restaurant this morning and didn't give your credit card information your reservation will auto cancel tonight. There is a glitch in their system. You will need to call Disney Dining and talk with an agent. They will rebook and take your credit card information to guarantee the reservation.

This is what happened to me. I booked after 3 hours of redialing, and then redialed for another 30 minutes to add my cc#. I ended up with a different time, but not too much of a change. She told me the same thing, any reservations made without a cc# will be cancelled at midnight!

I spent about an hour making our BOG ressie this morning (finally called the disabilities line and got transferred immediately), but I have since realized I made it for the wrong day....doh!!

I'm not running it but I'll be giving out food at the finish line this year in NY! I want to eventually do the guaranteed entry through the roadrunners' club, but this year I'm excited about volunteering.

DH and I are trying to get into the NYPD runners club so we can do the marathon here next year. Maybe we'll see you!

I'm with ya...have had to do my runs mostly at 5am (4am today after lasting in need awake for 2 hours) but always before the sun comes up...Florida summer is no place for daytime running.

A person to person contact is much better than anything we could give...

You may want to have teh fit peron look at your gait compared with the shoe you are in's purpose. Just a double check

I agree. Though I'm pretty sure I'm in the right shoe, a stability one. But I think my shoes are getting high in mileage. So maybe that is the problem, or one of them. I was just curious if a sock would make a difference, as the sales person said.

Possible sources:
- tired feet (is 8 miles a lot, or common for you);
- worn shoes (if cushion is gone)
- wrong shoes (might be time to try something new?); how much cushion do yours have?
- foot injury?

Socks can help, but can't really make a bad shoe good. I like the Balega socks for comfort.

I've run several half marathons, last one in January. Only low mileage since then, so I'm ramping up again, this time for the full. I ran 9+ yesterday and my feet felt better then at 8 miles the previous weekend, so maybe it is just conditioning.

Thank you both for your ideas. I'm going to head to my favorite running store this coming weekend if I can. Maybe just another new pair of shoes will make the difference.

Would some experienced (preferably 2012) WDW half marathon person check this map for me? I'm wondering if I got the last mile right. There isn't much detail on the official map. Is it really an out and back with a 180 at the lagoon?

THis is fairly close...

It's a combination Garmin, USATF and experience effort

Looking at your map, the entrance into Epcot is off at on Epcot Blvd... Move the course to the bus exit lane on Epcot and then enter through the cast member entrance near the bus stops and if will work.

Apparently I've been living under a rock since school started. I just booked my flight and went to the rundisney site to check expo hours, but couldn't find the info on the new site. I'm getting in a little before 2 on Friday, and am staying at BLT. I'm sure the expo is open until at least 7-8 Friday night, but wanted to know the exact hours that day. Does anyone know where to find the hours?
