Official Tinker Bell Half Marathon Check-In ** May 5-8, 2016 ** 5th Anniversary

Thanks Vicki! I'm going to check in at the Candy Palace this afternoon to see if I can score one that didn't get picked up. :hyper: If not DCA tomorrow at 7. :santa:

It was good! Got a candy cane on Sat and was able to get it right away too which was nice. Fri it was really windy, maybe even more windy than lat year's Avengers but that could have also been b/c it was cooler. So fireworks were cancelled and we checked at the booth for WOC and they said it would most cancelled too so we went back to DL. But it worked out great b/c we were by FL and it was closed still in case the fireworks did go off and they were starting the line for Peter Pan and we waited only 10 min for PP! It was crowded, but not I don't think as bad as last weekend. I got one of the Harvey 60th wallets, the small one. :rolleyes1 I found one that had POC, HM, Matterhorn, Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan so I couldn't pass it up.

Now no more DL until SW. :goodvibes

Oh! I forgot one of the best parts... I got to see the Dick Van Dyke birthday pre-Xmas parade parade. It was so cool! I got some great pictures too. Just tried to upload them, but it was saying that the file was too big. :guilty:

Hi guys! I'm starting the training program next week for the 1/2, would love to check in with others doing the same. I had a few questions, I'm trying to justify staying on site, my family will be going to parks Sun, Mon, Tues. On Sat I thought the kids would like to play in the pool/ waterslide. Which hotel of the 3 do you think is overall the best (walking to parks with 3 kids)? Park hours for Sunday are listed as 9 am open, is there early entry that day? I don't think I'd be done running but the hubby could take the kids. How does the gear bag check work? TIA

I don't have any advice based on experience, DH and I are staying at DLH because we thought it looked awesome :) this will be our first time doing Tinker Bell (first half too) and staying on property

I've only stayed at PPH. GCH is the closest to the parks and has its own entrance into DCA. DLH is the hotel the expo is in. The corrals for the race are right outside PPH and GCH. We loved our race stays at PPH. My kids enjoyed the pool and waterslide there. One day I want to stay at DLH so they can use the pool there.

Gear bag check is pretty easy. At the expo you'll receive a clear bag and a sticker with your bib # on it. Put the sticker on the bag, put your stuff in the bag and take it over to the gear check tent on race morning. Pick it up in the same place when the race is over.

I'm also starting the official training program next week. Thank goodness for a treadmill and Ipad......I need some mindless TV for my "dreadmill". I also plan to do some cross training on non running days. I've have some goals this year and I want to achieve them!!!!

My favorite "on property" hotel is the DL Hotel. I think the pool area is the best theming and our mouseketeer LOVES the monorail slide. The rooms have the castle and fireworks in lights over the bed and I love the music box button on the lamp. When we do stay there....I like to ask for a room in the same tower as registration and that overlooks the parking lot, if you're high enough you can watch the fireworks from the park. Check to see if they still have the firework channel on the TV for the sound. The expo is at the DL hotel so it would be really convenient too.

Thanks!! I was leaning towards DL hotel, just the price is killing me! But if we only stay there once I think this will be a good trip to do it. I heard something about the pools being refurbished, so will ask about that when I book.

I bought a cheap treadmill but its outside and I feel weird like I'm bothering my neighbors with the thud thud thud. At the gym I'm OK treadmilling watching a show but have never done more than 45 min. My longest run to date is the bay to breakers which is only 7 miles. I'm doing the tinkerbell with 2 friends so am hoping we can keep each other on track!

Absolutely find out about the pools being refurbished....I would call and speak to a manager just to make sure you get accurate information. Yes..it's pricey. We get to stay there when a conference is involved, otherwise it's a Best Western on Harbor for us.

This race is so much fun and if you can run up the Hayes Street Hill for Bay to Breakers you will not have a problem with the streets of Anaheim. We've got one overpass (going over the 5) and a underground tunnel where we go down backstage in one park then back up in DCA. With all the construction that will be going on in DL I am curious to see the course map this year and see if there are any changes from before.

:tinker:everyone has a great year injury free and full of PR's. :yay:
Ugh! Injury free! It seems like I've had nothing but injuries since NY. :sad2: Early Dec when I was planning on getting back running again, my Achilles was really sore. Then it heals and I get the flu before Xmas only to get better and last Tues I did something to my back. My entire lower back is so tight and sore; I've been living on Icy Hot patches and aleve. I'm going stir crazy not running or going to the gym I just want it to go away. I don't really have any choice now, I kinda have to at least go to the gym this week ~ I've got races the next 4 weeks, luckily this week is just a 5k, but next week is SW. Hopefully I've got it all out of my system and I won't have anything else happen this year. :rolleyes1

Thanks! It's driving me crazy not being able to do anything. Who would've thunk you could miss running and working out this much.:rotfl2:

Oh! I forgot to thank you, @Belle Ella and @VickiHD for talking me into going down to on Wed instead of Thur for expo opening for Tink. I went online to order pins today and they closed the orders for commemorative items already, I couldn't believe it. I remembered getting an email for SW, but not for Tink unless I missed it.

i think Tink commemorative items Sold Out vs closing down the link to order...
i was thinking of ordering the jacket and when I went back last week it said sold out

for SW we did get an email saying when the last day to order was but in the case of Tink i think the stock sold out.....
