Official Tinker Bell Half Marathon Check-In ** May 5-8, 2016 ** 5th Anniversary

Question for anybody.... has anyone gone to DL the weekend before Thanksgiving (ie this weekend equivalent) and how bad is it really? Was thinking about going down Sat and coming back Sun and found a room for $80. I have absolutely no expectations ridewise, b/c I'm going next month but got the urge and now it's in my head. :o Just not sure if it's soooo bad that it's not even worth the drive down and back.

Great price! I've never booked on orbitz. I'll have to sign up for their emails and pay more attention!

I started using them for some trips last year and like them. It's really easy to cancel if you need to change and you get "orbucks" for the trips you book to use on the next time. And like I mentioned above, they almost always have a discount code promotion going on and it's 15% which is more than AAA rates; not all the hotels will do the code, but some do.

I can't answer your question but i can tell you I'm going! We're leaving Sac around 1:00 (after school lets out) tomorrow and driving home Sunday afternoon. I'm sure its gonna be crowded but I just want to see Aladdin one last time before its gone. Bonus is that we'll get to do pics with Santa for the kids, ride the train one last time before its down for awhile, see the Christmas decorations AND hopefully ride Hyperspace Mountain! As long as I can hit those things in a day and a half I'll be happy.

Good luck and have fun! I chickened out b/c I started to worry about the traffic coming home Sun afternoon. My sister and I got stuck in Memorial Day traffic and it took us about 9-9 1/2 hours to get home I think. It's usually 5 1/2 -6. But decided to go the weekend after Thanksgiving, w/ points I got the Hilton for $50 and couldn't pass it up. 2 weekends in a row at DL can't be too bad right? :rotfl2: I figured that way I could pickup some presents and do stuff I know my dad won't want to do and then won't be worried if I miss it the next weekend. And my dad booked a flight for us the 2nd weekend as a bday present so I won't have to do the drive down again which is even better.

You'll be there for Candle Light then. We may run into you.

Well for future reference the crowds were not bad! Less crowded than our early June trip this year (which had august type crowds). The drive home yesterday didn't have any issues though there were definitely more cars on the road!

I was totally not doing the TinkerBell 1/2 Marathon in 2016. I had been waffling back and forth and had decided to not do it. I am trying to get my DD into an independent living situation in MA and that is taking my travel $ plus everything else I have. My sister fell and broke her hip in October plus has had some continued heart issues. My DD and I have, once again, been in charge of taking care of her. Anyway, my younger brother called and informed me that he just registered me!!!! I am catering his DD's wedding in Dec. and he felt bad for me. He is going to try to get a couple of 5K bibs through a travel agency as well. However, we will be just fine with the 1/2 registration - It is all about me after all....lol!

YEAH !!!!!!!!! I'm so glad !!!!!!! It's Mother's Day weekend...so it is ALL ABOUT YOU. Get your wings ready to come out to CA. That also means our Tradition of visiting Tink on the Monday will uphold. :cool1:

That's why hotels were so filled when I was looking; I didn't even think about that. :rotfl: Do you know who's reading? If you see a girl in neon green tink shoes say hi!

Good to know, thanks! I saw it was really hot down there I think it was Sat, hope it wasn't too bad for you.

Have either of you ladies run the Oakland Running Festival Weekend in March? I'm thinking about running the full, but wasn't sure how the organization of the races were and takes on the courses.

Yay! Glad you're able to run it again! :cheer2:

Rumor has it...Gena Davis. I will say Hi if I see you.
Remember the Candy Cane "run" when the park opens.

No...never even heard of that Running Festival.

Checking in on this side of things!! I'm running the 5K and the PDC - super excited for a trip back to Disneyland!

I have a hotel on hold outside of the parks, but I'm patiently waiting for DLR hotels via my TA to become available!

Saturday it was 88 around 2:00 I think. Definitely warm but we were prepared and in shorts! And nope never done the Oakland Running Festival.

Welcome to this side Keels! Glad you found the thread!

Finally..... my "I'm in training Tink 1/2 Marathon" shirt came today. Love the color and design. I'm really happy that the Disney Store offered it this year!!

I got mine last week and the colors are awesome, I love that it's so different than any of the race/training shirts I already have!

I've been seeing the shirts on facebook the last week or so. I have to say...they are super cute!

Love the "I'm in Training TinkerBell 1/2" t-shirts. I would have ordered one had I known sooner. Oh well, there is always next year.

I keep forgetting to ask on the other side... how's Dopey training going? I keep seeing posts in fb groups about long runs and back to backs and I keep thinking wow, that's early and then look at the calendar and it's so close! :cheer2:

Kim! Were you really just here this weekend? Haha. I sadly don't get too much computer time the weeks leading up the Thanksgiving. Work, work, work! I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to fit training into my schedule these days. Probably not until January at this rate!

No, I ended up not going last weekend. Buuuuttt, I'm going down to 5th-6th and then back down the 11th-13th w/ my dad for my bday. :hyper: :santa:

In the parks this week :). If anyone is around and sees a short girl with a panda stuffy balanced on her head (or just sees the panda stuffy... He wears his own pair of Mickey ears), please say hi! Jessica/Jessa/Jess/Kender/panda girl... I will seriously answer to it all.

Definitely my favorite kind of training to do a training run at my hotel and then walk around in the parks <3.

I love running down there too! Especially going through DTD when there's no one there and it's super quiet. If only we could run through an empty DL or DCA too. :goodvibes
