Official Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs Favs Thread - Begins 2/7! Cast posted!

I was thrilled with the final 3. I would have been happy with any of them winning, but I slightly wanted Amanda to win more than the other two. I really think her emotions were genuine and that the 3 were close.

Poor Amanda. I feel terrible for her. She filmed Fans vs. Favorites BEFORE the results show for China, so she had no idea if she won either. And then to come in second on both just stinks! But on both seasons she didn't do well at the final tribal council so she basically gave away the game both times. She is still a great player though!

I hope Ozzy and Amanda make it because he seemed so genuine at the tribal council. I am glad there was no proposal though, because that would have been weird. And I really think Parvati won when she teared up at Ozzy's speech because she showed that even though she was playing to win she still had a heart...they apparently were good friends before the season filmed.

Yeah, I'm kind of bummed Parvati won, too; I was really pulling for Amanda. I think her statement to the jury was kind of weak, and giving credit for all the blindsiding to Parvati wasn't smart. Yes, Amanda knew nothing about the plan to get rid of Ozzy, but she was definitely in on the ones that got rid of Jason (all her acting that she didn't have the immunity idol and then pulling it out at the last minute) and Erik.

SSB enjoyed the season quite a bit... and also won $200 in the office pool just now. :) :)

Go Parvati, go!

Any more plans to meet up with the Survivors? Love you post from previous meet and greets. :) I was routing for Amanda.

What the heck was up with Alexis' question to Parvati? Think she is gay?

I think Cirie did vote for Parvati - because she was mad at Amanda for not brining her to the final 2. I think if Parvati had won the final IC and taken Amanda, Cirie would have voted for Amanda.

I was shocked that Parvati Shallow - how fitting is that last name?! - won last night.

I think the 3 votes for Amanda were from Ozzy, Eric, and James. I can understand Natalie and Alexis voting for her but I'm note sure why the others would.

Cirie - bitter??
Eliza - no clue
Jason - no clue

I thought it was strange that there was no attempt at a deal between Cirie and Amanda after Parvati fell out.

Probably they both were planning to take Poverty to F2, so no deal to be made.

OMG!!!! I think you beat my daughter in the office pool!!!! She had Amanda ... and we were positive we had it in the bag ... until I saw Amanda's pouty/puppy dog face at finals and at that point I said, "She's just given her win away."

Dang!!!

That is a hoot! Small world, indeedy!

I was sweatin', but did think that Amanda cost herself a bit at the end.

Great to see show heading back to Africa, as good to change it up. They will have a hard time coming up with as good a cast as this last time.

I just watched the final on the Survivor website. Amanda just didn't stand up for herself at the final tribal counsel. It bit her in the butt back-to-back :(. I think that she would have had a better chance against Circie because Circie didn't have the social "flirty" game going on. She wouldn't have looked like a back stabber since they were all going for a final 3 tribal and not a final 2.

Oh well ... she has Ozzy to comfort her :woohoo:.

Surprise from the jury
The show delivered its final surprise at the end, when Parvati won five out of the eight jury members’ votes, even though they all seemed bitter and angry toward her during the final Tribal Council.

Jason called Parvati a "devious, manipulative player," and then voted for her. Eliza told her, "You might just be a mean person," and then voted for her.

While most of the jury treated Parvati with equal hostility, no one matched Ozzy's anger. "You put a price on our friendship," he told her. "I don't want to talk to you." The reason, he said, was because she "took away 14 days I could have spent with Amanda," a confession of love for Amanda that survived to the live finale. He voted for Amanda, giving her one of three votes (the other two came from Erik and James).

Parvati even admitted that she has one primary tool to fall back on: flirtation. "It gets me what I want. I'll flirt with girls to get my way, I'll flirt with guys to get my way," she said. "It is an old standby; I'm not going to lie."

...

Amanda cried after winning the final immunity challenge because she had to vote out one of her two friends, and the jury didn't seem to buy her emotional breakdown as genuine. Instead, they probably saw it as an attempt to sway them. In that sense, her masterful performance and game play a few weeks ago, when she pretended as though she didn't have the hidden immunity idol and was going home, worked against her.

With that in mind, how Parvati won may not be that much of mystery. The jury seemed unsure of what they were getting with Amanda, while they seemed confident knowing that Parvati was who she always was, however unlikable she may have been.

I thought Amanda had it in the bag but hey, at least she's come in second twice in a row now. How much compensation did she get for coming in second? Probably more than a lot of people make in a year and now she's received that twice in less than one year.

In the past the second place person has gotten $100,000. However, did anyone else catch Amanda saying "One of us is going to win $1,000,000, the other one gets nothing, may the best woman win" right before they went in to talk to the jury? It made me wonder if the favorite player $100,000 prize was done in place of the normal second place prize.

I really hope Amanda got something. The girl is a great player, but she stinks at talking to the jury. Her answer to Cirie was awful--she had a chance to pump Cirie up and stroke her ego, but she put her down instead.

I wish Amanda had won, but this was still a great season. Can't wait for the new season in HD ('bout time).

OK...another thought that came to my mind while I was showering (where I do my best thinking :)).

Since Amanda's first season hadn't aired before Micronesia started production, I wonder if people on Fans vs Favorites knew what position she had come in. I'd imagine they'd have had to. And I wonder if they had issues with handing over what may have been another million to someone. I remember on Survivor All-Stars that that was an issue...not wanting someone to win again.

:confused3

My guess is that they did not know and James and Amanda were probably not allowed to reveal anything. That is just a guess though. I think there would have been a much bigger deal made about that if they had known (and also perceived Amanda as more of a threat).

I read somewhere that every person on Survivor gets paid depending on the order they were voted out. I can't believe that the second place finisher would get nothing.

Probably they both were planning to take Poverty to F2, so no deal to be made.

But that would be why they would talk about a deal. If you were one of the two left and were fairly certain you would be voted out if you lost, wouldn't you try to make a deal?

I don't think they knew where James and Amanda finished in China. I think Micronesia started filming while Survivor: China was being aired on TV.

The same thing happened when Rupert was on Pearl Islands and then went to Survivor Allstars right away. The other players didn't know him or his strategy, so he was like a question mark to the other All-Stars.

I *think* 2nd place gets $100K and 3rd gets $50K, but I can't remember exactly. I found a list somewhere years ago. It did follow the boot order - the longer you lasted, the more moolah you got. The amounts might have changed, since the numebr of players seems to be higher now, too.
