Official September 2012 planning thread! List on page 30!

Just noticed today is my 9 month mark! Single digits :rotfl:

Im sure we will fill up a lot more now that the holidays are over and people can focus on other things once again!

DH and I made DS a countdown for our March trip yesterday. We used the mickey paint samples from Home Depot for the first time- it actually looks adorable! We are both super happy with it :goodvibes Im trying to be as excited as possible for that trip, but without being onsite and no DDP, it doesnt feel as "offical" as our usual trips. I really shouldnt complain though because this trip is a bonus... and any extra disney is good disney!

Anyone start trying to figure out their park schedules yet for their vacations? I just started my spreadsheet :rotfl:

Yay! For the nine month mark. I haven't really started planning too much for this trip yet, since our cruise comes up first in July.

ThereYouSeeHer- I am really getting nervous about our cruise since we have never cruised before. I have so many questions. I know you have been on cruises before, do you recommend any cruise books that I can read for information on DCL? I just want to cover all my bases.

Sure. Most people would recommend the PassPorter's Disney Cruise Line book. I got one from our local library before the cruise. It was an outdated edition, but it still was helpful. Their newest edition has been updated with the Disney Dream and can be purchased from their website, Amazon, or other booksellers.

But really, I just scoured the internet and the disboards for information. Every time I had a question or got concerned about something, I would google it and see what I could find. If I still had questions, I would post on the Cruise portion of the disboards. And if you haven't already, join the Disboards FE (Fish Extender) Group or Cruise Meet for your specific cruise. It doesn't mean you have to participate in the FE or meet-up with other DISers (we didn't do either), but most of them are veterans and are sooo helpful.

Don't forget to read through the DCL website. They have a bunch of FAQs that would be a great place to start: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faqs. I would go through them somewhat methodically--pick one category a day and read all the questions within that category. Also check out the Cruise portion of the Moms Panel: http://disneyworldforum.disney.go.com/home.aspx.

I honestly didn't have that feeling of excitement leading up to our first cruise because of all the unknowns. However, now that we have one under our belt, all the jitters are gone and I am sooo looking forward to our next cruise! So whatever range of emotions you may be feeling is completely normal!

Thank you for the information. I started reading up on things today. I am excited more for the trip in September only because I am good at planning Disney world trips it comes naturally to me, but the cruise is a little out of my comfort zone.

On another note, I got a post card to call and listen to a DVC promotion to get a $40 gift card and it will be here in 4-6 weeks. It was the quickest Disney money I ever made. Anything we can save on our trips, right?

I wish I would get that offer! I love listening to DVC pitches. We are still looking for the right contract on the resale market. Can't wait until we own DVC!!

We really want to buy DVC too, but we have too much to do right now for the house. Maybe when that is all said and done.

Would it be weird for me and DH to wear Star Trek outfits to MNSSH? We are planning to go this time since we will be there in September.

Not at all! It's Disney. Alot of adults dress up and you probably wouldn't be the only adults in a Star Trek outfit!

I think you should go for it! When we were there a lot of adults were dressed up. The best group of adults we saw dressed up were all ghostbusters. You don't have to wear a Disney costume. Just go and have fun. :goodvibes

I have updated the list of who is going when and where we are staying on page one. If anything has changed or anyone wants to be added, please let me know. :goodvibes

I'll be going with my daughter, (Kimpup on Disboards) September 1-8th. Staying at the Poly! I'm celebrating my retirement from 25 years of teaching, and she just finished her MBA!!! Double celebration!

Welcome to the group! Congrats on your upcoming celebrations. I am a teacher myself, but I feel like I have 25 more years to go. Lol! This year is only my tenth! I will add you to our list. :goodvibes

Looks like we will be flying in on Aug 25th and leaving Sept 19th. We'll be at POP.

Wow! I am super jealous. The longest we have ever stayed is 11 days. I bet you will have a wonderful time. I will change the first page to reflect the new dates.

thanks for making the change. Actually, we usually try to go for 2 to 3 weeks. My dream would be a month.:cloud9:

That's great! I guess I can't complain. Between our cruise and short trip to WDW in July and our trip in September we will be away for close to two weeks. It just won't be all at one time.

A cruise sounds wonderful.

Happy new year to all my disboards friends. Hope the announcement tonight is one to get excited about!

Oh well. Disappointed to see the 2012 year-long campaign was so limited in scope. 24 hour park access on Leap Day only? One free hotel night for stays within one week of Leap Day? Really??

Most people aren't going to scramble to book their vacation during Leap Day. Especially since alot of guests already have a specific time of year they like to visit. Even so, I guess it's not as lame as "Let the Memories Begin" of 2011....:confused3

Yeah. Not what I expected. I did enter the trip give away though. There is nothing to lose right?
