Official September 2012 planning thread! List on page 30!

Yeah. Not what I expected. I did enter the trip give away though. There is nothing to lose right?
True. I will be entering as well, but this campaign just doesn't have the same buzz as the Year of a Million Dreams (where they gave away 1 million prizes a year, two years in a row) or Give a Day, Get a Disney Day (where they gave away 1 million free tickets). This year, they will give away 60 vacation packages? Spread the love around a little more! :)

I hope this doesn't mean they will be stingy with additional special offers. I know alot of us are waiting for more discounts and free dining to come out again!

Yeah we save more money if we have free dining. Most promotions in the past were better. I hate to sound ungrateful or as if I deserve a discount, but it would be nice if the majority of us who csn't just drop everything and go to Disney in Feb. or March could benefit in some way.

I agree. I don't want to sound ungrateful or like I'm entitled to a discount. It's just that they build these things up like we will all be thanking our lucky stars for Disney's next promotion. I still don't understand why they didn't offer "One More Disney Day" to everyone throughout the year (even if on select days year-round or up to a certain number of guests).

And, it's a promotion that excludes DVC Members and cruise-goers. I feel bad for DVC Members. All the free dining and free ticket promotions always apply to cash-paying hotel guests!

Completely agree. A bunch of one more Disney days throughout the year so everyone could benefit would be much more exciting.

So on a completely different note, I just read your trip report for your cruise. Since your kids are about the same age I just wanted to see how they handled everything. They look like they did great.

They did great. We only dropped our 6 year old off at the kids club twice (and not for very long) and she wished she could have gone more often and for longer. We did not use the kids club or nursery for our 3 year old, though. She had not yet turned 3 by the cruise date, so technically she would have been in the nursery. But, even though they would have made an exception for her to be with her older sister, we just kept her with us. However, this next cruise, both of them are looking forward to being in the kids club. And the oldest has told us she basically wants to be there the whole time!

It's funny because the kids clubs stay open until like 1am or so. And we couldn't imagine what parent would leave their children there all night while out partying. Now, when we go back, that's what we're going to do! Haha.....alright, not exactly, but we are looking forward to taking time to explore all the adult spaces of bars, clubs, and spa.

As for everything else, the kids did fine with the staterooms, the shows, dining, ports of call, everything. We didn't do naps either. There just wasn't enough time.

I am so excited to go back. I feel so blessed to get to go back and see everything we missed!!

What did you guys do on your Nassau day and yor Castaway day? We were thinking of doing the glass bottom boat on CC, but my DH doesn't even want to get off in Nassau.

I think our kids will do fine too. They love trips and and I don't think they will mind the kids club. We are doing the same thing. Kids club for some time and family time some time. It's our ten year anniversary so I think we deserve some down time. :goodvibes

For Nassau, we took a water ferry over to Atlantis. We thought there would be more to see at Atlantis for free. But everything except shopping, dining, and casinos is restricted to hotel guests. The only reason I wanted to go was to see the hotel grounds and water slides and themed architectural dig areas (and not to play, just to take pictures). But you had to pay for a tour just to see any of it. So that was a bummer. I've read that if you get to Atlantis really early (like before 8am or so), they don't check for hotel guest wristbands, so you can basically walk around and see everything for free. But they were checking for wristbands when we were there around noon. So we took a taxi back to the dock and went back on the ship.

I would recommend at least getting off the boat. Even if it's just to see the dock market for a few minutes. Then you can say you've been there, done that. Do you have passports? Because I would also recommend getting them stamped. It's a neat souvenir and worth the time.

For Nassau, I personally wouldn't recommend booking an excursion before you get on the cruise ship. I was sooo happy we didn't lock ourselves into any excursions. One, they would have been such a time drain. And, two, it's hard to say whether they are worth the cost. We saw many families getting up and out extremely early in the morning to make sure they didn't miss their paid-for excursion. We were so happy to have a leisurely morning, enjoy breakfast, and do Nassau at our own pace. And we were happy to go back to the boat when we had enough and not be stuck on a long outing somewhere.

As for Castaway, we didn't do any excursions, but I would be more likely to spend my money there. We just relaxed on the beach and ate way too much delicious food on the island. We actually didn't pay for anything during the entire cruise except for tips (and the ferry and taxi fare on Nassau), but a 10-year anniversary is a good reason to splurge a little!

I'm in!!! My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary on the Dream Sept 23-27 then we will be staying at The Contemporary Sept 27-29th

Welcome! Nice to see you again. This must be the year do tenth anniversary trips! We are celebrating our 10th on the Dream too. Then a September trip!

Question....so we have been staying at AKL lately. We absolutely love the relaxed atmosphere and the theming. We love Boma and the Mara. We are staying in Disney for a few days before our July cruise. I was thinking of doing the Poly. We haven't been in about five years. My DH really wants to do AKL again, but we are staying there in September and I really wanted to do something different.

Do you think we will be disappointed since we love AKL so much? Should we just stay there since we know we love it or go for something different?

Our cruise is from 9/23-9/27. It is the 4nt. We are staying in a veranda room which was only 289 more dollars from an inside. So hey, why not:goodvibes!!! It will be fun chatting with everyone again for the year. I did book POP again because we really did like it. Hoping for free dining again. We didnt book the bounce back offer that was in our room (which was for FD) because I didnt think we would be back so soon. Oh well, ya live and learn:upsidedow

We are on the same cruise!!!! Is there a cruise meet thread for it yet?? I haven't been able to find one yet. We got a verandah too...I can't remember the catagory now, and I deleted my message on Facebook from the TA with our room number...I'm so excited to see someone going on our cruise with us!

I booked it awhile ago...I can't believe I've missed this thread all this time! BUT....on our way home last September the TSA "lost" my computer out of our luggage when they inspected our bag. :headache: I just recently replaced it. We came home from the World to discover we were expecting baby #3!!!! We didn't think we could have anymore without the use of fertility meds...so it was a huge surprise!!! I have had nasty hyperemisis again and have had home health care and been in and out of the hospital...but I'm 18 weeks now and things are finally starting to get better!!!! (Just felt like I needed to update my Sept '11 peeps as to where I've been! Ha!)

I can't wait to hear about everyone's plans!

Question....so we have been styling at AKL lately. We absolutely love the relaxed atmosphere and the theming. We love Boma and the Mara. We are staying in Disney for a few days before our July cruise. I was thinking of doing the Poly. We haven't been in about five years. My DH really wants to do AKL again, but we are saying there in September and I really wanted to do something different.

Do you think we will be disappointed since we love AKL so much? Should we just stay there since we know we love it or go for something different?

I love the Poly! It's so close to the TTC. If you pick a longhouse near the TTC, you can eliminate one of the monorail rides! Love the beach at the poly too! Can't wait until September 1st!!!!

Do you have your reservation number? Do you know if you can access your reservation on the DCL website, even though you booked it through a TA? If so, that would help locate your room number!

Ugh! So sorry to hear about the computer. Did you get any compensation for it? I would have been so upset!

Wow, congratulations! It'll be so exciting to have Baby Watch 2012! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. I hope this pregnancy goes easier for you! We have friends who also unexpectedly got pregnant with a third, when they were told it wouldn't happen without intervention (like their previous two). It must be something about number three!

I would totally do something different because that's the fun of being at Disney! Since you are already staying at AKL this year (wow, we can finally say this year!), I would mix it up. You won't be disappointed!

I don't need much convincing. My DH used to love Poly until he met his good friend AKL. :rotfl: He loves everything about it and doesn't really care if we go anywhere else. I welcome a change every once in a while.

Think I may just have to do Poly whether DH wants to or not! :goodvibes

No I didn't write it down. I will just have to ask her for it.

The TSA is "investigating my claim"...ugh!

Thank you so much! We are super excited!!! I sold all of our baby stuff last summer at a garage sale...I'm convinced that was what did us in! Ha!

I would do the Poly for sure! :thumbsup2

I hear ya. We still have our suite of baby gear--stroller, high chair, playpen, swing, bouncer, etc. Each time I am determined to sell them or donate them, I never go through with it. We are not planning on having a third, but you always have that thought--"As soon as I sell this, what happens if we unexpectedly have another??" I really need to clear it out this year though. They really take up alot of space!
