Official September 2012 planning thread! List on page 30!

The boards have been so quiet lately!

I need to switch resorts so Im asking for some input. Right now we are booked at CSR, and we were returning because we loved the Pepper Market. However, its just been changed to a buffet for breakfast and lunch and you can no longer get anything to go. Having DS, who will just turn 3 a month before the trip, he needs more than a muffin or fruit for breakfast. He loves his eggs, mickey waffles, etc. So since thats no longer an option at CSR we need to switch. Now I havent called to see whats available under the bounceback that I booked, but Id like some advice before I call and switch.

We're trying to keep the price that same so that leaves us between POR and POFQ. Ive never stayed at either. We did CBR this past trip, and both the food court and double beds were huge turn offs. We really would rather not return there. Im afraid of the shared bus service between the Port Orleans Resorts. Is that a huge issue? I know on our last trip I saw some really long lines for these resorts at the bus queues. Any suggestions?

On our previous 2 trips, we've stayed at POR, with the trundle beds, and we LOVE it!! I've read somewhere on the boards that they have updated some rooms. Some of the rooms that had the trundle, now have a Murphy bed instead.

We love this resort! If you're mainly looking at food, the Riverside Mill has great food, and a great buy for breakfast! Their main pool also has a slide that your son may enjoy. If my parents don't go with us next year, we'll stay here again! We consider this our "home" resort.

How about upgrading your 9yo to a Disney adult? That way he can eat the same food as the rest of you?

We did QS in 2009 and paid for Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace OOP, but this trip we will either upgrade to the 1TS/1QS plan or just get it with the deluxe resort option. We love character meals, so it's worth it for us.

We loved the ease of going to wherever we wanted to go whenever we wanted to go and really didn't get bored of the choices. There's a lot to choose from....the cantina in Mexico, ribs and chicken at Cosmic Ray's, a burger at Pecos Bill's, ect. Honestly, we got bored of Mickey waffles and the same buffet choices for breakfast from the TS restaurants. ;) This time we are switching it up a bit and going for dinner at different places.

Okay, I should know the answer to this, but with CS, don't they count all meals as just a CS credit? So, if my husband and I did two separate purchases, could my 9 yo have an adult meal?

Technically, yes. QS meals are just counted as QS meals. However, they do state that when a kid QS meal is available on the menu, that meal should be chosen. I've read about at least one restaurant in Disney that enforces that. It is unknown if or when Disney will ever completely enforce kid QS meals the same way they do TS meals.

That being said, I think either meal plan would be fine. Although we have not yet tried the QS plan because we enjoy having one TS a day, I think you'll find the variety you need. There are also kid's pastas, paninis, and pizza. It might require a little more planning ahead of time to find the options you want, but who doesn't like additional Disney spreadsheet planning?? :rotfl:

Thank you! I think Im going to call and see if they have any Royal Rooms available during our stay. I did a bunch of research yesterday and it seemed like POR was the way to go. Im glad you reassured me with your post! :goodvibes

I agree. I think POR would be the best choice. I hope it works out for you. :goodvibes

Right now, I just have our room comparables on a spreadsheet, but once my parents decide, I'll be making a dining options one! I have some notes written in a notebook, but I love my spreadsheets :rotfl2:

I'm glad I could help reassure you! Happy planning! :woohoo:

I make spreadsheets for everything. It's one of my favorite parts of planning a trip. Right now, I am concentrating all my energy on our cruise for July, but I know soon enough I will want to plan for Disney too. A cruise is wonderful, but not the same kind of planning.

I was able to make the switch! I was so nervous that theyd have no Royal Rooms left under the promo and I was so shocked that they did!! They had no standard or garden left so I had to change it to waterview... the price jumped about $200 but I have a feeling its going to be worth it. Ive been stalking the POR thread and the pictures look amazing. The mansions are so my style, and I really love the new royal theme

So now Im an offical POR girl! Only 9 months to go :rotfl:

Yay! That's so exciting to have your resort locked down.

We're waiting for rate promos to come out for September before booking. We're only staying one night because of the cruise, so I'm interested to see where we end up!

Cant believe the holidays are here! Happy Hanukkah to anyone celebrating! Ive finished all my Christmas shopping and can not wait for DS to see what Santa brings him. This is the first Christmas were DS is understanding whats going on (hes 2).

Ive applied to a part time job. Not exactly thrilled, but the pay is great and its about 20 hours a week. DH and I are planning on using this money to save up for a bigger down payment on a house and also using it for extra vacation spending money! We want to start to try and have another child next March/April so Ill only be working about a year/year and a half. Should be worth it!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas everyone!

The part time work should give you some extra money. It's always nice. I just finished all my grad work and now get a pay bump in March so I can not wait for the extra money.

Our trips are getting closer and closer. I really was hoping that free dining would be announced, but I guessing will just have to book through AAA in January and then change to free dining if it comes out. A discount through AAA is better than no discount.

The extra money is definitely a HUGE bonus! Ive actually been contemplating a quick December 2012 trip to disney to see the decorations. Luckily for us, DS is the first grandchild on both sides, and both my parents and DH's parents are constantly offering to take us away.. thus how we are going in both march and september (one vacation with each set of grandparents). So, Im thinking with me working, a quick getaway for the 3 of us might be a real possibility and much needed :rotfl:

Im sure I wont get a chance to get back on here before this weekend so I hope everyone has a great holiday! Merry Christmas!! :goodvibes

Happy Holidays!!
I wish we were in Disney.
Changed the dates a bit for our Sept trip. We are flying out Aug 25th and staying until the 19th of Sept. Still hoping for free dining.

We are heading back to the World on Sept 8th, hits time for two weeks! A friend is meeting me and my husband and we are staying at POFQ again. Love it. So small and easy to get around. Whe we booked online we were able to stipulate rooms near each other as well, which works out well!

We booked a bounceback while we were there Sept 2011. We are going Sept 5-11 2012 and staying at CBR for the first time!!!

Welcome! I will add you both to our list on page one!

So everyone, what do you think the announcement will be on New Year's Eve? I hope that it is something that everyone can benefit from. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Just noticed today is my 9 month mark! Single digits :rotfl:

Im sure we will fill up a lot more now that the holidays are over and people can focus on other things once again!

DH and I made DS a countdown for our March trip yesterday. We used the mickey paint samples from Home Depot for the first time- it actually looks adorable! We are both super happy with it :goodvibes Im trying to be as excited as possible for that trip, but without being onsite and no DDP, it doesnt feel as "offical" as our usual trips. I really shouldnt complain though because this trip is a bonus... and any extra disney is good disney!

Anyone start trying to figure out their park schedules yet for their vacations? I just started my spreadsheet :rotfl:

I think the park(s) will remain open for 24 hours. I know people are speculating that it would just be Magic Kingdom and just on Leap Day, but that seems too limited in terms of a year-long benefit. So I think it will be select nights throughout the year, with possible free admission on Leap Day for a certain number of guests (similar to the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day promotion that was capped at 1 million registrants).

ETA: And it makes sense that they would announce it on New Years, since that is the day everyone stays up around the clock. So it's definitely an all-night park benefit, we just need to figure out the scope.
