***Official November 2013 - Part II*** (that's right....we're that popular!)

Still hitting 90 degrees here, so I can't pack my Orlando stuff yet - I'm still wearing some of it! :beach:

Oh I can pack it, but if I need to wear it, I wash it and repack it. Kind of that extra "drawer" thing going. LOL This way it's all picked out and I just have to keep up on laundry to keep it packed. :lmao:

Absolutely :thumbsup2

Truly amazing and get there early for some fun surprises with the audience :goodvibes

That show was awesome. IN 2006 the clowns decided to incorporate me into the whole show they did. My husband was laughing it was so much fun. AMAZING SHOW

I hope people aren't taking this CM advice at face value. I've already seen at least one person report that they were told they shouldn't even be messing around in MDE, let alone trying to FP+ or customize MBs if they hadn't gotten an emailed invitation yet. Very unpleasant about it. The problem is your MBs are supposed to be sent out 30 days before arrival, so you can't generally customize them any closer than that. So, unless there are no MBs associated with the reservation and they just happen to get added later, in time to customize and ship to home or resort, you're going to end up with plain gray bands if you sit back and wait.

It's possible that you're not eligible for MBs for some reason, of course. But the roll-out is basically to all the resorts at this point, depending on check-in date. So you've either got eligibility and should be able to customize now for November or you're not eligible for some reason. I really wouldn't just sit around and wait. The FP+ should be the same situation, except you can do them right up until their times, so less pressure now.

BoG FP+ is a separate issue, literally in the computer systems and figuratively. We've had reports of people who couldn't get into the system (mostly resolved) and people who got in but couldn't book or who tried to book and didn't find availability. We've also had reports of people who got in but then found they couldn't log back in to their accounts later on.

Myself, I didn't get any email invite (for anything, and we arrive 10/31), but I was able to access the BoG FP+ system and booked a time within our first 7 days, which seems to be the limit. I screenshotted my reservation info, just in case. But we've already had people report that they didn't get an email inviting them to do BoG FP+ and they got a FP+ anyway and were either on a list when they arrived at BoG or were taken at their word (or proof) and let in. We've also had reports or people asking at their resorts at check-in and having the CM book them BoG FP+ without any questions.

As always, the CMs don't necessarily have the latest or most accurate information, and it makes me very sad to see people treated poorly by a CM or advised to give up and wait for something that may never come when others were able to get these experiences.

There is no way Disney sent out limited invites to BoG FP+ without a special individual code or other system to keep non-invitees out if they expected to keep the pool limited to only those specific people. And there is no way they encouraged people to sign up for MDE and then put the MagicBand customization and FP+ links on there if they didn't intend for people to be customizing and signing up. If they planned to limit access so tightly, they wouldn't have made it so easy for so many others to get access. And they're so close to full roll-out to resort guests at this point, that waiting around for them to specially invite you when emails could get lost or computer glitches could occur is just asking to miss out on something.

We're informed WDW visitors here. We don't wait around for an email telling us the dessert party is open (now open until March, apparently -- which is a big change) or our ADR window is open -- we actively pursue these experiences that many WDW visitors never even know exist. We know things book up or get released early or have limited access if you know how to get it (we previewed New Fantasyland last year with D23 and then went back several other days and were allowed in just because we asked!). And we know things are closed for refurbishment so we're not disappointed or can change our plans.

So, to see people being advised to just trust contradictory advice from one CM is worrisome to me. I don't want anyone to miss out on something they could otherwise do. There are plenty of threads on these subjects ongoing right now, and they all report varying degrees of success doing things CMs have told us won't work. And you'll never know if you don't try. Always hope for pixie dust!

I have a big under-bed storage box that I'm using to "pack" without it being apparent to my dh that that's what I'm doing. ;-) He feels better, somehow, if it's just stuff being stored together rather than in a suitcase. Like he's married to a normal person or something.

Now my big worry is that "finest family moment" thread and doing what I can to get everyone more meltdown-proof and our schedule more flexible to allow for breaks. We homeschool, so our mornings are usually very leisurely, but starting next week we're going to be waking up earlier and walking every day until we leave. And then once we're there I'm going to try and move s l o w. LOL

I'm sitting at work and have several things on my mind at the moment I have too much free time :guilty:

1) Is there any benefit to buying mickey ears online vs. in the parks? Price, selection?

2) What souvenirs does everyone usually buy in the parks besides mickey ears and T shirts? I mad our own shirts for each day :thumbsup2

3) I was looking forward to the movie and marshmallows on the beach but just realized the only nights we could do this I have dinners booked for that time California Grill one night and Monsieur Paul the other. If you had to choose would you keep the dinner or would you hang out at the beach?

Anybody know how to book BOG fast pass lunch I cant find it anywhere

Thanks

Waking early and going for walks....so you are seeking meltdowns now in order to make your Disney schedule meltdown-proof? :lmao:

Love the "married to a normal person" comment. I think my husband is so used to me now that he just goes with the flow. Also helps I have an empty bedroom since DS is off at college. I have the biggest suitcase on the bed in there.

44 days!

Our first stay at Grand Floridian (SL-CL) November 11th-15th...huge Poly fans so hoping that we won't be disappointed here :)

Hello!! I was just directed to this thread. I'll be traveling Oct 30 - Nov 3 (someone told me that was enough days in November to be included here. ;))

This will be my first stay on-site. Staying at SSR.

It will also be my first visit to F & W (Oct 31) and MNSSHP (Nov 1). I've heard so many great things about both, and I've also heard that they are both too crowded to bother.

If anyone has any clues, ideas, hints, or suggestions for me - I'd greaty appreciate them. Like - With just 1 MNSSHP night, can I reasonably expect to make M&G for Jack and Sally, 7 Dwarves, and Malificent (and other villians)? What kind of costuming should I wear, or should I skip it since I'm almost middle-aged - even if I don't feel old! What are the best places to go to in F&W? Will I truly need someone to wheel me out on a flatbed truck when the day is over? :rotfl2:

You know, just basic questions.

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to meeting everyone!

D

Thanks! We are heading for GF 11/17-23 :)

:welcome: and I promise to update soon! I am having issues at work with the analysis explanations on the August financials as well as budget questions (I seem to be doing everyone's budget but mine. lol). So....no time right now, but I'll be back to talk soon.

I'm soooo behind on this thread so this might be a long one....

Not sure which to get - what do you recommend? Ooo I love the idea of announcing the wait times, will have to get the app for my phone and then annoy my husband with it :lmao:

I have Disney's MDE app that lists the actual wait times that are posted on the rides and I have 2 from Undercover Tourist (both free), 1 for Disney and 1 for Universal. They list the times based on people's reports I believe. UT's load A LOT faster and are easier to refresh, but I still tend to go to Disney's one when looking at their parks.

I'm hearing many ppl talking about customizing your magic bands. How do you know you've got them. In mde mine says magic bands and cards. Click on that and it's our linked APs. Nothing prompting us to customize magic bands. There are also 5 others in our group, but they don't have APs or park tickets yet since they'll be getting Military tix. We're checking in on Nov 10 staying at OKW. Any info would help. Thanks. :)

I wasn't prompted to customize my MB's but then neither was my friend who had to customize hers by yesterday - she was quite glad I stopped by and did it for her. I know you aren't supposed to have to to online check-in to customize, but I had to do that for her so that we could customize them. For me I had already done online check in before November rolled out so i had to modify my check in and log out and then back in before I could modify my bands.

Actually, I linked my MNSSHP and MVMCP tickets to my MB. MDE kept taunting me :rotfl2: with the notice to add any tickets that weren't already included, so I tried it and it worked -- just put in the ticket numbers. They're all showing up in our ticket list.

The thing I read about linking your MNSSHP tickets to your MB is not that the linking will cause problems, but that you shouldn't actually use the bands to enter the parks for the party because the computer gets confused (especially between 4 and 7) and it might take another day off your regular tickets.

We are at 46 days to & received our DME package, now just waiting for Mickey Mail!!! :) What a great anniversary present!!! :)

OK, totally jealous, we are 41 days and no DME mail for us yet. No idea why I'm jealous, but I am ;)

I'd like to find the man who is married to a "normal" person. My husband WISHES I would be organized enough to be fully packed weeks in advance. We haven't quite finished up with our summer clothes yet, it hit 80 yesterday, but we really should start putting the stuff into suitcases when we don't need it anymore, it does make sense.

We home school too so I totally get you about the leisurely mornings. We have started walking, although only a couple of times a week at this point. My too youngest will get up at a decent hour, but my 13 year old is not a morning person, luckily he is also not a whiner. However, my 6 year old is a drama king and when he gets tired(or hungry) he can make everyone around him MISERABLE. The last walk he decided to lie down in the middle of the street because he was too tired. We have a LONG way to go. It will be a month before his 7th birthday so I really don't want to rent a stroller, but I also don't want my days ruined.

My husband saw some bags in the back of the minivan and asked me about them. I told him I had brought bags out to the car to donate in the bin near the school but forgot to drop them off. He looked relieved :confused3 I asked him what he thought they were for and he said "I thought you were already packing the car for Disney" :rotfl:

That is too funny. Last night I was in bed watching Stargate SG-1 while reading a travel book on Disney. I have a HUGE crush on Colonel O'Neill and I watch reruns of SG-1 all the time (thank you Amazon Prime), I even fall asleep to the show. Anyway, my husband saw the book and the show and said if Colonel O'Neill ever showed up at Disney I'd probably have a stroke.

We haven't received our Mickey mail either and we our at 40:(. I know a lot of people say 30 days but I have seen people at 56 days getting Mickey mail:(

I can't remember when I got it the last time. I think I was further out than 30 days, but not as far out as 40. I do admit I was checking my mailbox yesterday after reading about some people getting them early. :)

I did get a personalized brochure about our upcoming stay about 2 weeks ago. I wasn't sure what the point was, but it was cute.

I was cleaning my office yesterday and I found a bag with old mail in it. Turns out I had been sent one of the coveted pins for a 2012 trip and I never opened it. Ugh. I also found my old Mickey mail that still had the vouchers in it, too bad they have the dates on them. Although the arcade one didn't seem to have dates.

My MBs should ship in 12 days and I should get my Mickey mail before that so that is cool.

If you are dying for mail you can order the personalized maps for free if you haven't done that yet.

I just called DME and they said they usually try to send them out at least 2 weeks prior to your trip!

Not sure this is the place to ask, but trying to get details ironed out for mid- November trip. We've never done the world showcase at Epcot and excited to so this trip. Wht do you do with the passports? And, are the ones you buy there nice or is it better to print your own from one of the creative forums? And, what the heck is a journaling card? I've searched other forums and just end up with more questions! Thank everyone!

You get the passports stamped at the Kidcot station in each country. The one you can buy is very nice with stickers for different country landmarks. We used it on our first trip, but we used DISigner passports for subsequent trips. I’ll try to post some links tonight of my favorites. We used a holiday-themed one for our last Dec trip. Also, not sure of your dates, but there is a free passport for Food & Wine where you can check off the food you eat and get stamped by each booth. That’s a fun souvenir too.

Not sure where you heard the “journaling card” referenced, but in the scrapbooking world it refers to a pre-made card with space (sometimes lines) for journaling. They have gotten very popular with Project Life and other pocket scrapbooking products. They generally come in 4x6 or 3x4 in a wide variety of colors, styles and themes. And, yes, people do carry them on trips to jot down details that they can later put directly onto a scrapbook page or into a mini book. I carried some on our last trip for my son. He had to keep a journal of the trip for school so he used a Smash Book and I carried journaling cards for him to write when we were sitting down for meals and such.

You could probably also use the 4x6 ones for character autographs. I use just white cardstock that I cut into 4x6, punch through the corner and put on a key chain. It makes a small and simple autograph book and then I just stick the autographs into a simple album with the photos.

So excited!:yay: After over two months of searching for better dining times for some ADR's, and especially Ohana, all of a sudden I found 2 of them within 5 minutes today! I had to swap days but it's still good.

So now we have received Mickey Mail, gotten our MB, ordered extra luggage tags, registered with ME, gotten a FP+ for lunch at BOG, done some days of FP+. All I am waiting for is my Disney Rewards certificate in the mail so I can order my Photopass+.

Now if only I was ready for Halloween.:headache: The kids won't even give me an answer what they want to be.

We are going 10/31-11/9. I had an 8:10pm dinner, which was a little late for my 5yo, but finally snagged a 6:50pm! I have been searching for over 2 months and this is the first ADR I have seen pop up for a party of 5 before 9:45pm.

Now if only we could get a BOG dinner we would be set. But I'm resigned to do lunch there.

Congrats, that is great. It does help to stalk the site. Unfortunately the site is such a pain at times. I found a better lunch time for our HS day and when I clinked it and accepted the terms I got the dreaded "server is busy" Donald. Then the time disappeared when I reloaded. Same thing happened with our breakfast at Ohana. It takes a good 20 minutes for that slot to get released back into the system (it seems to hold it for you not realizing the server busy response). One night I had to do it 4 different times over the course of 2 hours until I got the darn ressie, I didn't want to wait until the next day despite the busy messages because I was afraid it would be gone. We are a party of 7 so it is hard to book.

Jealous! I have been trying for a few weeks to get a better ohana time and haven't have anything show up. When are you going?

Breakfast or dinner?
