***Official November 2013 - Part II*** (that's right....we're that popular!)

Just thought of something based on the previous conversation.

Was anyone able to get FP+ during the MVMCP times?
I didn't try but was wondering. Especially since you can't link those tickets.

Actually, I linked my MNSSHP and MVMCP tickets to my MB. MDE kept taunting me :rotfl2: with the notice to add any tickets that weren't already included, so I tried it and it worked -- just put in the ticket numbers. They're all showing up in our ticket list.

I wasn't offered any FP+ times after 7 p.m. on those days, but I wasn't trying to get them that late, since wait times are so low during the parties. The only thing I might look for is parade or fireworks reserved viewing, and I haven't been able to get that for any other night. Not to mention we're doing the dessert party during MVMCP...

My guess would be they won't do FP+ during the parties because the lines are usually so much shorter (except for the special meet-and-greets, of course). Not to mention the potential confusion if someone was offered FP+ but didn't have a party ticket.

Last year, we not only saw them enforcing the wristband requirement for people who were trying to stay for the first parade (having managed to stay that long without getting caught!) but saw one man having a major meltdown at the turnstiles because his family was only there two days, until the next day, but they'd showed up at MK at 7 p.m. and found out they couldn't get in. :rolleyes1 I would imagine they'd want to avoid even hinting that people might have access when that kind of thing already happens.

It's too bad because if they did I would definitely consider buying MVMCP tickets then , but I can definitely understand how it would be too much of a demand.

46 days until we arrive :cool1:

My husband saw some bags in the back of the minivan and asked me about them. I told him I had brought bags out to the car to donate in the bin near the school but forgot to drop them off. He looked relieved :confused3 I asked him what he thought they were for and he said "I thought you were already packing the car for Disney" :rotfl:

I spoke to IT customer service yesterday bc mine finally said I had magic bands and they were shipped but I couldn't customize. They said to wait for an email inviting you to customize the bands (and that vacation dates in November hadn't been mailed ... We are going in nov). She also said that the BOG fast pass is invite only and non-transferable (and mst likely to show up for those at the monorail resorts.) She said the computer is doing weird things as far as stuff showing up , then not, due to them trying to work out the kinks. Hope that helps:)

I hope people aren't taking this CM advice at face value. I've already seen at least one person report that they were told they shouldn't even be messing around in MDE, let alone trying to FP+ or customize MBs if they hadn't gotten an emailed invitation yet. Very unpleasant about it. The problem is your MBs are supposed to be sent out 30 days before arrival, so you can't generally customize them any closer than that. So, unless there are no MBs associated with the reservation and they just happen to get added later, in time to customize and ship to home or resort, you're going to end up with plain gray bands if you sit back and wait.

It's possible that you're not eligible for MBs for some reason, of course. But the roll-out is basically to all the resorts at this point, depending on check-in date. So you've either got eligibility and should be able to customize now for November or you're not eligible for some reason. I really wouldn't just sit around and wait. The FP+ should be the same situation, except you can do them right up until their times, so less pressure now.

BoG FP+ is a separate issue, literally in the computer systems and figuratively. We've had reports of people who couldn't get into the system (mostly resolved) and people who got in but couldn't book or who tried to book and didn't find availability. We've also had reports of people who got in but then found they couldn't log back in to their accounts later on.

Myself, I didn't get any email invite (for anything, and we arrive 10/31), but I was able to access the BoG FP+ system and booked a time within our first 7 days, which seems to be the limit. I screenshotted my reservation info, just in case. But we've already had people report that they didn't get an email inviting them to do BoG FP+ and they got a FP+ anyway and were either on a list when they arrived at BoG or were taken at their word (or proof) and let in. We've also had reports or people asking at their resorts at check-in and having the CM book them BoG FP+ without any questions.

As always, the CMs don't necessarily have the latest or most accurate information, and it makes me very sad to see people treated poorly by a CM or advised to give up and wait for something that may never come when others were able to get these experiences.

There is no way Disney sent out limited invites to BoG FP+ without a special individual code or other system to keep non-invitees out if they expected to keep the pool limited to only those specific people. And there is no way they encouraged people to sign up for MDE and then put the MagicBand customization and FP+ links on there if they didn't intend for people to be customizing and signing up. If they planned to limit access so tightly, they wouldn't have made it so easy for so many others to get access. And they're so close to full roll-out to resort guests at this point, that waiting around for them to specially invite you when emails could get lost or computer glitches could occur is just asking to miss out on something.

We're informed WDW visitors here. We don't wait around for an email telling us the dessert party is open (now open until March, apparently -- which is a big change) or our ADR window is open -- we actively pursue these experiences that many WDW visitors never even know exist. We know things book up or get released early or have limited access if you know how to get it (we previewed New Fantasyland last year with D23 and then went back several other days and were allowed in just because we asked!). And we know things are closed for refurbishment so we're not disappointed or can change our plans.

So, to see people being advised to just trust contradictory advice from one CM is worrisome to me. I don't want anyone to miss out on something they could otherwise do. There are plenty of threads on these subjects ongoing right now, and they all report varying degrees of success doing things CMs have told us won't work. And you'll never know if you don't try. Always hope for pixie dust!

I going to assume they won't, but not to the point I'm not going to keep checking periodically. I still don't have parades and fireworks FP+ showing up for non-party nights. All that could change at any moment. I didn't have access to FP+ last week for half the things I do now, including Fantasmic. And others have access to Illuminations FP+, while I still don't.

Our first stay at Grand Floridian (SL-CL) November 11th-15th...huge Poly fans so hoping that we won't be disappointed here :)

I'm hearing many ppl talking about customizing your magic bands. How do you know you've got them. In mde mine says magic bands and cards. Click on that and it's our linked APs. Nothing prompting us to customize magic bands. There are also 5 others in our group, but they don't have APs or park tickets yet since they'll be getting Military tix. We're checking in on Nov 10 staying at OKW. Any info would help. Thanks. :)

As others wrote, DO NOT WAIT for an email invitation.

My band personalization window closed today, and I still have not received an email invite to participate. The best way I have found to get to the personalization option, as there have been many, was to start on the MDE home page. You get there by clicking on your name in the MDE drop down menu at the top. If the right sidebar says 'Manage MB,' not 'Personalize MB,' try logging out then back in. If still nothing, try modifying your online check in. Even if you change nothing, just go through the steps. Then log out and back in.

Also make sure you do this from the webpage (desktop or laptop computer), not an app. And finally, try a different browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc. Is Netscape even available anymore?)

The system, being new and massive, is still buggy. I have found if something doesn't work one way, get to it from a different route and you will likely get what you want. :thumbsup2

Hello!! I was just directed to this thread. I'll be traveling Oct 30 - Nov 3 (someone told me that was enough days in November to be included here. ;))

This will be my first stay on-site. Staying at SSR.

It will also be my first visit to F & W (Oct 31) and MNSSHP (Nov 1). I've heard so many great things about both, and I've also heard that they are both too crowded to bother.

If anyone has any clues, ideas, hints, or suggestions for me - I'd greaty appreciate them. Like - With just 1 MNSSHP night, can I reasonably expect to make M&G for Jack and Sally, 7 Dwarves, and Malificent (and other villians)? What kind of costuming should I wear, or should I skip it since I'm almost middle-aged - even if I don't feel old! What are the best places to go to in F&W? Will I truly need someone to wheel me out on a flatbed truck when the day is over? :rotfl2:

You know, just basic questions.

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to meeting everyone!

What he said!! I never got an email invite, but got a postal invite on Monday. The same day that the MB's had to be customized by. I had been checking online, and the "personalize MB" changed over about the 2nd week in September, so I had plenty of time - but I wouldn't have if I had waited on the letter.

Oh, and it may be because of how close I live to Memphis where they ship from, but I got mine yesterday - less than 24 hours after I got the mailed notice I could participate.

I am also staying at SSR! I heard its beautiful, so I'm really looking forward to it! Have you stayed there before? Sorry can't help you with Halloween stuff, we only go for the Christmas celebrations! Enjoy!

A couple of important questions... Are you traveling by yourself? It could significantly modify your F&W strategy! We are a twosome, so we are able to visit every booth over our five day stay. We buy one of each item (mostly, some are just to scary to try!), share the item/drink, and throw it out UNFINISHED if we don't like it. That way you will not need the flatbed truck for the trip home. Always let Mickey do the driving though! :drive:

If you are able, visit F&W early on Fridays and Saturdays if you don't like crowds. Those seem to be the busiest days. We have always found Monday and Tuesday to be nice days. On the busy days, we usually buy food and drink at one booth, then taste while in line for the next booth. We always pick up a 'passport' to rate the items too, so we know if there are any worth going back for or purchasing (wine) in the Festival Center.

If you have the budget room available, we have always enjoyed the Saturday night PFTS. Lots of people participate, but lines will be shorter than outside at the World Showcase booths. And the food and drinks are all included in the event ticket price and are generally of a higher quality than the outside booths. Very enjoyable.

You are visiting at a great time. I prefer to visit the end of October to beginning of November when we can swing our schedules because it always seems the least crowded and the weather is best.

As for MNNSHP, wear a costume! :joker: Everyone is young at DW! Just keep it tame and G rated - it's a Not So Scary Party!

:welcome: I'll make sure to get you on the first post!

I would call IT. I know the number was floating around somewhere. The second I find it, I will add it to the second post.

The passports are for sale in any one of the stores and you can get them stamped in each of the pavilions. There are some people that print passports and I'm sure you can get ideas on the DISigns boards, but that is WAY to much work for me. lol (heck, I buy the autograph books!) I have never heard of a journaling card, but that sounds like someone is keeping tabs of all their activities throughout the day as (1) a keepsake and/or (2) to remind them what they did so they can do a trip report. I use pictures to help remind me what I did throughout the day. I think last trip we had over 1000 photos.

Let us know if you need anything else and :welcome:. Did you give us your dates and resort so we can add you to the first post?

Thanks! We are heading for GF 11/17-23 :)

OK. So it sounds like the hour I spent on the phone with IT resulted in information that is not right. As of now, we are leaving 11/17 and I can do fast pass+, but not magic bands. I logged in/out, re checked in, modified check in and used both moxilla and explorer and still don't have magic bands. SO, should I call IT again?

Haven't every stayed at SSR before. This will be my first stay on-site. I usually stay off-site at either Orange Lake or Worldgate. But last year I bit the bullet and bought DVC, so first trip jitters.

I went for Christmas a couple of years ago, and they decorations were awesome, but I'll never go back at that time of year again!! The week between Christmas and New Years was CROWDED beyond belief. :crowded: Maybe some year I'll get a chance earlier in December, but not that last week.

A couple of important questions... Are you traveling by yourself? It could significantly modify your F&W strategy! We are a twosome, so we are able to visit every booth over our five day stay. Thanks!! I am traveling with my Significant Other, so not quite by myself. ;)

That might work. We generally have completely different tastes in food, so it might work from the likelihood that at least one of us will like it. :rotfl:

We really only have 1 day planned for F&W - Thursday Oct 31. I figured (since I'm the planner) that the crowds would be less in FW on Thursday than Friday or Saturday, and the MNSSHP would be more crowded on Halloween than the day after, so we are doing MK on Friday. Of course, after I got my tickets I found out that the Nov 1 party is normally a sold out day. :confused3

So, now I need to ask, where do you get / what is the "rating passport"? Is that just a regular passport that you are using differently or is it a passport that has places to rate all the booths? What is the Festival Center? What is the 'budget room' and PFTS? This is my first year to get to go at this time. As a teacher, I normally only ever get Christmas break, spring break, or the 3rd week in July. But state conference days just lined up perfectly this year, so I'm taking advantage.

I keep waffling on the costume I wore last year. Mostly because it is easy to pack and do. Just not sure if it is completely "child appropriate". Super easy, I just wear normal clothes, and then carry a Frosted Flakes box with a plastic butcher knife in it. That makes me your local "Cereal Killer". *ta-da*:p

Thanks again, and looking forward to more tips and tricks from everyone!

Thanks so much for all of the info! Re: the BOG, how did you get a numeric confirmation number? The only one i have has letters in it. Thank you!!

If you personalized your MBs, there will be a numerical reservation number on that page.

Otherwise I've heard of others hovering over something somewhere would produce the magical number. Anyone know where? :listen:

I think your plan to visit the F&W on Thursday is a good choice! :thumbsup2

The passport is a free hand out Disney finally came up with that lists every item available at every booth. Each booth will even stamp it for you if you want! We used to buy the generic World Showcase passports and just write everything down; we were happy this specific passport was developed.

The Festival Center is where many of the seminars are held and the F&W gift shop and wine store are located. It's the big building between Ellen's Energy and Mission Space.

By budget room, I meant if there was room in your budget for tickets. Only general admission tickets are left for the Nov 2 event, and they run about $145/person.

After this trip you will want to come back next year to try the seminars and special events! We love the F&W!
