OFFICIAL - NON SPOILER Amazing Race: Unfinished Business Premieres 2/20/11

I really don't get the perception on the u-turning if they knew of the penalty, though. If I knew a team had a penalty coming, that's a team I probably wouldn't u-turn, because I'd know I already have an advantage over them. I'd always u-turn a strong team.
I think the goal at this point in the game is not to come in first (although that's nice!) but NOT to come in last. If I could make sure that someone else was going to come in last, I would U-Turn them in a heartbeat.

Yes! I said this to DH too about them uturning someone.

But I did find it extremely funny that Kynt and Vyxsin uturned the blondes right in front of them. :lmao: I think that was Kynt's idea. Very smart. I was also surprised that all they got was a 30 minute penalty.
That was funny. I guess I'd never really thought about it, but I didn't realize they could make a mistake and U-turn someone that was ahead of them, like K&V said they did in their original season. I've never seen that happen. I think they were still so flustered from playing catch-up that they wanted to be certain that they were u-turning a team that was really behind them, and J&C were the only ones they could be sure of, since they could see them right there. :rotfl:

I think 30 minutes was reasonable, especially considering that their actions didn't save them time, but cost them. It's the standard penalty.

Am I the only one who thinks that until Jamie and Cara went back and did their 2nd challenge, they shouldn't have been allowed to U-turn anybody.

They got U-Turned before they reached the mat. Once they reached the mat, their U-turn should have been in play and they shouldn't have been allowed to U-turn anybody at that time. I wouldn't haved care if it was a matter of seconds, minutes, or hours that Kent and Vyxsin beat them to the mat, Jamie and Cara got to the mat after they had been U-turned.

This is an interesting thought. It hadn't occured to me that they shouldn't have/couldn't u-turn another team, because they were u-turned, themselves. I wonder if it had occured to the producers. In this case, it didn't matter--FT and BE did fine, and the girls were eliminated. But I wonder what would have happened had it been a factor in elimination.

I thought the basketball playing at the airport was a hoot--my favorite part of the episode.

Well, if the lie was "game play" that's one thing. This was just "We don't want to look like the dummies we are" kind of thing. :rotfl2:

:lmao: I think so too. I really like Kynt and Vyxsin. I am ready for Ron & Christina to go home soon, even though I was rooting for them at the beginning of this season. Ron's just really starting to get on my nerves.

Last night was his best night ever.

I didn't really think it was fair that Kent and Vixon (sp) even had a penalty. I mean, it's not like they just decided to take another flight just to try to get ahead.... they missed the first one, so there wasn't much they could do. (Except not get lost in the first place).

I always think of penalties as "punishment" for doing something sketchy to try to get ahead in the game.

I agree, I thought it was pointless to penalize them. It's almost like if a student skips a question on a test, and the professor takes additional points off for skipping the question. What sense would that make?

They missed the required flight, I think they were lucky to get just the 30 minute penalty.

I was also a little surprised they got the penalty too, but they didn't follow the rules even though they incurred no advantage in missing the flight. I'm actually surprised K/V caught up considering they missed the flight and then lost their passports. You would think after watching prior teams lose their passports they wouldn't take that fanny pack off of them.

I'm hoping Ron and Christina are next to go. I like her, but he is just too much. He drove me crazy last week when he kept stopping to eat! WTH??? You're in a race for a million dollars and you keep stopping to eat??? Almost as bad as the two that took a potty break before checking into the pit stop.

But missing that flight didn't hurt them in the long run. Neither did the penalty.

Missing the flight did put them a little behind the 8 ball but they gathered themselves, put together a plan, and nailed it. So I don't see the need to bring them down for that.

Missing the required flight was penalty enough.. you realize that put them way behind the other teams?

It is the same as if they took a cab and the instructions were to walk; they didn't do something that was required so they get a penalty. The only reason it didn't cost them was because it was a two-parter and they managed to get that all important equalizer in this weeks episode.

Not the same at all.

How is it not the same? The instructions for that leg made it very clear that the flight was a required flight. They knew is was required, they lamented over it when they knew they were going to miss it.

Failure to follow the instructions results in a penalty.

Agreed - fail to meet a requirement = penalty unless they would be eliminated anyway.

Taking a cab instead of walking gives team an advantage so penalty is justified.

Missing a required flight gives a team a disadvantage so penalty is not justified.

That simple!

The requirements could easily say take a cab and they walked, they would still get a penalty.

It is really simple, they didn't follow instructions so they get a penalty.

I disagree and so do a few others on this thread. You need to think about how events affect outcomes and missing a flight gave K&V no advantage..

Woah...Amazing Race thread getting a little heated here...

I'm glad that if they have a set of rules they're going to follow them, even if we might not think it's "fair" or makes sense.
