"Official" Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2016 - Have Yourself a Very Mickey Christmas.

I asked this in another thread, but this one is more active. We were planning on a Christmas party Sunday Nov. 20 before getting on a cruise Monday morning. Any idea why there is no party that Sunday night? Maybe they will add one?

They will not add one.
  • November – 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 18, 27, 29
  • December – 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22

I am so excited to be able to attend the MVMCP for the first time this year. We have a trip planned Nov 4-11. I am thinking about attending the second party on Nov 8th. I know they let party people in at 4pm but what time do the actual party events start? 7pm? And what time is the parade? Thanks!

Thanks for this thread, there's a lot of helpful information here, especially in the OP!

I've decided that my next trip to WDW will be during the Christmas season, and of course, MVMCP will be a must-do!

We went to MVMCP in Dec 2011..... We plan to go this Nov 2016! I am looking forward to it! My older DD did not come on that trip so this will be her 1st party! I am also taking my Mom, its her 1st trip to Disney! I recently lost my Dad and could not leave my Mom home alone, so I bought her a plane ticket! It is going to be a surprise. When we went in 2011, it was a very cold night! This year I will plan for a cooler night! Great info!!!!

Do we think the first party will sell out this year? I can't decide if we should do the 7th or the 8th?

We will be going to visit Universal over Thanksgiving, and we are planning to attend the Nov 27 party. Do you get fast passes if you only have party tickets? How long are the ride times during the party on the Sunday after Thanksgiving?

TIA!

You can reserve Fastpasses with only a party ticket but you can only reserve Fastpasses from 4-7, after that you can't.

Oh, I didn't know that. So with a party ticket you won't have any FPs after 7? Why is that? Would it be because they feel you don't need them at the party because there are not long lines?
TIA, Karen

They've never had FPs during parties, even under the old system. I would assume it's because most people don't go to the parties to do rides, so the lines aren't long.

Ok, well that's something else I didn't realize. Haven't been to one of the parties in years. So do people usually do meet and greats with the characters? Or are they there for the parade and fireworks? Hmmm, maybe a little of both??

I'm very curious about how the parties work as well. Are there scheduled parades/events that we will know about ahead of time?
We will be just off a Very Merrytime cruise..so I don't think it's necessary for us to hit all of the Christmas themed shows.. Would like to see a few and then take advantage of short ride lines.

In addition to the various shows, there are two parades and Holiday Wishes in between. Lots of families with young children watch the first parade, which is a great time to hit rides with shorter waits. Then we watch the fireworks and wait for the second parade, which is at 10 or 10:30 (it's been a while, so I don't remember the exact time), and is a bit less crowded. "Snow" falls on Main Street during the parades, which is fun. Times guides are available so you know the times of the various shows and events. We like to see the characters, but don't wait to meet with them. As old as DD is now, she is still looking forward to the free hot cocoa and cookies.

Thanks for this! Is Wishes any different on party nights than the other nights of the week? We have a tpv at CR and our first night there will be watching from room. (Non party night)

The fireworks were different the last time we went to the party, with added Christmas fun. Not sure if this is still the case...maybe someone who went last year can help with this!

Most people go to the parties for the party-specific events - Holiday Wishes, the Christmas parade (I think it's called Once Upon a Christmastime), stage shows, and special meet and greets that aren't available during regular park hours.

They do Holiday Wishes at the Christmas parties - the music at least is entirely different.

Holiday Wishes and Hallowishes are both completely different then each other and regular wishes. Along with the music track for them as well.

Holiday Wishes is a completely different show, beautiful of course. I have noticed over the last few years the crowds were in my mind nuts! And you mostly see it around the parade and wishes. People grab their spots for the early parade and wishes what seems like 1-2 hours before it all begins so it does make it hard to get good viewing unless you want to sit on the ground in your spot for a long time. If those two things are very important for you and youve not seen them I suggest you grab a spot early! We usually miss the first parade and instead do rides and there are usually a few neat characters like the dwarves and now Jack skellington so we do those. The first year the dwarves came out it was pouring and I think we had to wait 45 mins. This year Jack is on our list so we will put the time in for him. I plan a party like I do the parks, make your cant miss list and plan your night around those items. You can find last years guide and times on line at the various sites and plan roughly based on that until its released. Its never varied too much in all the years we've been going (since 2004). I have never went on a friday and never will but have noticed the other nights have sold out a few times in the last few years now, I aim for sun or tues usually and sometimes both! Another tip if you want to see the second parade with a little less crowding head to liberty square/frontierland for some great viewing. We love MVMCP!!

Tell me about the Friday before Thanksgiving. Looking at 11/18 before Destination D starts. How do crowds compare? Which parties were sold out last year? Since a PP notes that there is no party on 11/20 (or the following week), does that suggest that 11/18 will be particularly crowded?

I'm late to the thread. Any rumors on when pricing will be announced?

If you have one-park tickets (meaning, *not* PHs), is it OK to visit a different park with your regular ticket and then enter MK with your MVMCP ticket that evening? Will the system say no, you've already used your ticket today, or will it recognize two different tickets?

You can visit a different park and then use your MVMCP tickets no problem :)
