***Official March 2021 Thread***

Wow, I have several posts to catch up on. I'll do that in a second but for those that haven't seen, March 15th Magic Kingdom is now full in resort guest and theme park ticket categories. Not AP holder catagory though so they may shift those around. I'm not sure what the black out dates are for AP holders so I'm not sure if that may be why it's not full in that category. Now off to catch up on the replies...

I did see this from today on the rumors of a potential travel ban. I'm somewhat optimistic that it won't happen.
Linked story here on Forbes

I am pretty confident that it will never happen. I was a bit taken back by the original article shared but then re-read the top paragraph about bi-partisan support. A ban will NEVER happen, we already know the Governors track record on this situation.

AP blackouts for any pass below platinum are 3/27-4/9. I think since AP can only select 3 park days without a resort reservation, their future availability tends to stay open for the most part and fills up in the current month—weekends in particular. My guess is that after the Presidents Day crowds clear out, we may see some changes to the March calendar for AP.

Is March 15th week the week of Florida spring breaks? I'm surprised that the weekdays around Easter are filling up, but the weekend April 3-4 hasn't yet...

We are from North FL and it is our spring break that week. I have also heard that the schools in Tampa have out that week.

I just saw this and wanted to add my dates but like you all I am nervous about a possible ban. I would be so upset if that happened. We live in CA and had 4 different trips to disneyland that were cancelled. It was actually the same trip that started in May for my birthday and then was moved to Aug, Sept and then Feb and finally cancelled altogether. We also had some other trips that were planned throughout 20 that all had to be cancelled and my parents own a home in Peurto Vallarta. They own it with some other people and they only get 2 months a year split by 6 months. It takes 7 years for it to cycle around for them to get Dec and they had it this year. It was also my daughter's 21st birthday. We had planned to go and her boyfriend had to buy a passport and we were worried he wouldn't get it in time (because of covid it is taking a lot longer to process) plus we all bought airfare and then at the 11th hour they instituted that testing thing and it was STARTING right when we were going. We were too nervous about it so cancelled. So we used our flight credits to book DW for April. Then my daughter said she really wanted to go but can't miss work so we reschedule to spring break. I was already nervous about crowds and now we are 44 days out (supposed to arrive on March 27th through the 4th staying offisite). Now we hear of this possible ban. We had a trip to New England scheduled for last Oct that we cancelled because of travel bans. By the time we go both my mom and oldest daughter will have been vacinated but because I am 50 they don't have it open for my age group yet. My younger daughter is moving to Wisconsin end of this month and we just bought her a ticket to come visit us. I am praying that something doesn't happen but I have a bad feeling because LITERALLY every thing we have tried to do something keeps happening. Either travel bans, or my dad actually broke his back, earlier this year we were going to go to Oregon and there was the fires. Not to mention I keep seeing all my other friends that have taken trips. I would be so devestated if it has been open this entire time and now at the 11th hour we can't go. :(

Got you added to the list. I can see why you are nervous about actually getting to go. I would be too if I had all that happen. Stupid Covid!

Well, hubby wasn't down with changing to Beach Club Villas since our current reservation is already paid. It was just too much of an increase.

I was talking to a friend last night who gave me some good perspective. She said that the cancellation plan is extended right now for just these reasons and a month can make a huge difference in whether we're comfortable or not. So I'm going to plan as if we're going and just reassess the week before. We're actually spending the first part of the week in Hilton Head so worst case scenario, we stay there the remainder of the week. So now I'm just going to keep an eye on trip reports and hours and play with dining. It is what it is.

We are strongly considering driving from Ohio (16ish hours). Were already nervous about the airport/flight with COVID and now with travel restriction rumors may just commit to the drive.

I don't blame you. We would probably be driving (from Michigan) if we didn't have flights from last spring break that had to be rescheduled.

Kids have Spring Break the week we are going, so looking at just taking them out Friday and doing 10-12 hours Friday and then the rest Saturday morning.

Then we will have the added benefit of having our car if we want to skip the buses and drive to the parks.

I know it's a very new guideline, but has anyone's work place addressed the need to quarantine (or not) after traveling if fully vaccinated? My workplace forces a 10 day quarantine if you travel out of the area, but I'm wondering if that will change based on the new CDC guideline of not needing to quarantine for the first 3 months after being fully vaccinated if exposed. This will help my stress level tremendously.

I remember someone saying they didn't have to quarantine if they were in that 3 month window but I can't remember right off who it was. I'll see if I can find it.

I made the drive solo from the Dayton area back in October and it wasn't too bad. Be sure and use WAZE if you drive. There's a great thread with tips here https://www.disboards.com/threads/driving-from-chicago-to-walt-disney-world.3822501/#post-62593663 if you do choose to drive.

That said, I flew from Cincinnati last month and am flying again because I am uncomfortable with the risk of snow and ice this time of year - especially driving by myself. I was completely comfortable on my flights as well as at both the Cincinnati and Orlando airports.

DD and I will be flying from Detroit. This will be my 3rd flight from DTW to Orlando since July, DD's 4th. We have flown Delta for all trips except one and that was Spirit. Delta trips were much better with the middle seat open. I just got an e-mail that they have extended that now through the end of April. Spirit is always cramped but it just seemed worse than normal.

We cancelled our flights back in early January and decided to drive the 18 hours. We are stopping to sleep over at a hotel about 5 hours from Orlando as we don't think we can make the drive all at one shot. First time for us driving....let's hope we don't all kill each other...lol!

17 hrs 2 minutes from TEXAS to Wilderness Lodge. I actually enjoy the drive but would rather not. Also, my kids would have to skip school on Friday to arrive on Saturday.

Curious - we haven't started looking yet - but where are you thinking of stopping?

It seems weird that the week of the 14th has all yellow days and so does the last week. But the week in between is all green

3 reasons actually - 1 my hubby falls asleep EASILY when he sits for long periods. So there is no way I will be able to sleep while he is driving. I will have to constantly be nudging him to stay awake. 2 neither of us like driving much at night. 3 driving straight through is too exhausting if neither driver sleeps.
