***Official March 2021 Thread***

I just saw this and wanted to add my dates but like you all I am nervous about a possible ban. I would be so upset if that happened. We live in CA and had 4 different trips to disneyland that were cancelled. It was actually the same trip that started in May for my birthday and then was moved to Aug, Sept and then Feb and finally cancelled altogether. We also had some other trips that were planned throughout 20 that all had to be cancelled and my parents own a home in Peurto Vallarta. They own it with some other people and they only get 2 months a year split by 6 months. It takes 7 years for it to cycle around for them to get Dec and they had it this year. It was also my daughter's 21st birthday. We had planned to go and her boyfriend had to buy a passport and we were worried he wouldn't get it in time (because of covid it is taking a lot longer to process) plus we all bought airfare and then at the 11th hour they instituted that testing thing and it was STARTING right when we were going. We were too nervous about it so cancelled. So we used our flight credits to book DW for April. Then my daughter said she really wanted to go but can't miss work so we reschedule to spring break. I was already nervous about crowds and now we are 44 days out (supposed to arrive on March 27th through the 4th staying offisite). Now we hear of this possible ban. We had a trip to New England scheduled for last Oct that we cancelled because of travel bans. By the time we go both my mom and oldest daughter will have been vacinated but because I am 50 they don't have it open for my age group yet. My younger daughter is moving to Wisconsin end of this month and we just bought her a ticket to come visit us. I am praying that something doesn't happen but I have a bad feeling because LITERALLY every thing we have tried to do something keeps happening. Either travel bans, or my dad actually broke his back, earlier this year we were going to go to Oregon and there was the fires. Not to mention I keep seeing all my other friends that have taken trips. I would be so devestated if it has been open this entire time and now at the 11th hour we can't go. :(

I just don't want another March trip canceled at the last minute. (last year was the day before we were to fly)
Tell me soon, white house, or move on away from this. :) (Please, it's my 50th Birthday trip for goodness sake. 🥺 )

I know. My daughter's marching band was supposed to leave for Florida March 14th last year and the school shut everything down in the way of trips on the 13th. She was so bummed. Then we had to cancel our family trip this summer. We just told the kids last week because we were feeling confident about going. Now I'm wishing we had waited a couple more weeks.

If they restrict flights, I will start looking into the 15 hour drive. Not my preference, but I've done it before.

I also have a 15 hour drive and it's absolutely not fun. After years of long distance driving I told myself never again after flying for the first time last trip. lol

Agree, and there are seven of us going, so it would be take two cars or rent a van. Neither of which sound fun.

I wish it were only a 15 hour drive. Per Google, it’s 23h44m from my front door to Pop. Yeah, no. 😆😆😆 It’s flying or nothing for me!

It is 20 hrs for me. I've done the drive without DH 3x in the last 2+ years, but when we flew after the last drive in July 2019 I thought "huh, driving really stinks." So we've flown ever since. :) BUT, if they took flying away as an option, I'd drive to get there!

Sooo...

worth $1300 to upgrade from Gran Destino Towers to Beach Club? lol

I'm thinking that if we're potentially going to spend more time at the resort... dreaming!

I mean if you have children the pool is fantastic, and walking to the parks is so great. I am not the one to answer, I am a sucker for the Epcot resorts. 🤷‍♀️

It's always been a dream of mine to stay there. Two teens... it's really tempting though it would be more so if we had park hoppers. Right now we don't but the idea that we could walk to Epcot and HS the days we go is tempting. And 2 separate spaces for the kids to sleep so we don't have to hear them complain.

Are you looking at Beach Club villas?

Its a 16 hr drive for me. I don't have any problem getting tested. but if for some reason we couldn't fly home, we'd rent a car and drive.

🥰 This will be my second stay in BCVs. It's so nice to have a full kitchen, washer/dryer and space!
We originally were booked for YC, but when AP discounts came out I changed us to BCV. We are traveling with little ones, 3 under 5, and a 9 yr old, so washer/dryer is fantastic, and we order groceries to be delivered so our frig is stocked with all we need.
I've never stayed in GD, so I cannot compare. Good luck with your decision!!!

Thanks! We will have a car so can run out for groceries which would save us money for sure. Not necessarily $1200. lol

I could rent DVC points if anything was available but then I would lose my park reservations and I don't want to do that so I would probably be stuck paying Disney rates. It would be pretty awesome.

If you already have a package booked with tickets and park reservations, you can cancel it and not lose the park reservations. I did it last year for my October trip—I had a Pop package booked direct with Disney and found a Hotwire deal for Pop that saved me almost half, so I booked that, canceled my Disney package, and bought tickets from Disney, and none of my reservations, park or dining, were affected. And I was able to do it all online with no issues.

Thanks for that! Unfortunately it looks like there are no DVC spots open at Beach Club so that's a bummer because it would have only been an extra $500 or so.

We chose to upgrade to a villa at Beach Club since we anticipate spending more time there too!!! It was a similar cost change from a single room at Contemporary.
I love the boardwalk/epcot area so much. It's just relaxing and feels so far removed from the "real world"
Definitely feel like it was a wise upgrade and investment in our sanity as a family lol
