~~*Official July 2013 Thread!*~~Our Month has Arrived!

Hi everyone! Just discovered this site a few days ago, been reading lots but haven't posted!

About us: The last time we visited Disney World, AK had just opened! DH is 53, I just turned 49, and we will be traveling with our 6 yr old grandson. He is actually my step-grandson and we have had custody of him since he was 9 months old so we consider him our son. So when I refer to my DS6 you will know!

We are visiting July 5th-20th. :beach: We won't be staying on site, would love to but cost was the big factor. DH is not a park lover and doesn't want to visit too many days.

We will be getting into DW parks free at least 2 days (DH's cousin retired from there so she can do 2 days maybe more) Here's our tentative agenda:

July 5th leave Tennessee by 6 am, Condo @ Legacy Dunes
July 6th shop, explore, visit/dinner with relatives
July 7th Animal Kingdom / Dinner @ T-Rex
July 8th Epcot
July 9th Daytona Beach
July 10th Magic Kingdom
July 11th GatorLand / Airboat tour
July 12th Hollywood Studios
July 13th Clearwater Beach / visit family in Lakeland on way back
July 14th
July 15th Universal / IOA (????)
July 16th
July 17th Deep Sea Fishing (Clearwater)
July 18th SeaWorld
July 19th Coco Beach
July 20th leave

Nothing is really set in stone just have to get the 4 parks , deep sea fishing and beach time in. Thinking the 2 free ticket days will be for Epcot & HS that way we can park hop over to MK if DS doesn't like the park we are in. May try to get one more MK park out of DH. Still not sure about the Universal/IOA, other than Spiderman & Harry Potter not sure what else DS would be interested in!

Thanks for letting me share and for any ideas/suggestions you may have! :lovestruc

:welcome: Fellow Diser - Glad you joined us. We are all 24/7/365 Disney Maniac's :wave2:

Hey Everyone - Just want to up date all of you as to what has been going on. Midori BB Team is 15 and 1. BB Tourney is starting next week. Midori made 27 points in last Saturday's game. Midori's braces are going well and she is changing the band colors every month. Pretty neat if you ask me...

We landed a 2 year contract with the City of Fort Worth, so business has been good. Reminding my Boss about July Vacation was a dramatic event. He commented, Disney Vacation again??? I reminded him, this has been and will be a vacation I will take for years. EVEN after you re-tire BOSS!!!

It has been a big ordeal for 28 years for him to let me take my vacation. I lost 2 weeks of vacation time last year and I really don't want to lose it this year. We may not go to WDW next year ??? Plans are to go back to Paris and visit Disney again. But you never know, plans can change.

Other than that, DD and I are watching our past Disney vacation Video's and watching the days go by quickly... It's almost the end of Feb, Spring break will be here, Easter then Summer vacation again. This year is going to go quickly and I am not ready for it.

Our cat will be 23 years old the first of April. He is so cranky and walks around with an attitude.

Enough about us, what has been going on in your world's???

That's great about your DDs BB team. My DS11 plays hockey. He has scored 12 goals so far this season! I missed his game yesterday :( but his grandparents said he did great!!

I really hate it when people say Disney again??? They just don't get it.

Paris sounds awesome! We will get there someday.

It was only 55 degrees in FL yesterday :(
Went furniture shopping :)
Today will be a little better- 65. I guess that's better than the 25 and snow back home. :)

I just make a calendar type chart with numbers. When DS was younger they used to put a Disney sticker on each day. Now they just cross off the number each day.
I have seen some really cute ones on a thread. You could do a search for countdowns. There are tons of them. HTH :)

Ok thank you !!!

When HOme Depot still had the Disney paint, we picked up tons of the paint chip samples and we made a countdown calendar out of them. We put Velcro on the back and take the pieces off as we countdown. The kids love it. I usually don't start the official countdown though until 30 days out.....too much more than that is a little much for my little ones.

That sounds fun!!!!!

This may not be original, but my DD6 loves loves loves the countdown chain. we do it a little different each year. One year we painted a bunch of plain white paper with crazy colors and once they dried cut them into strips, another one we cut up different colors of construction paper, this year I got a template from the boards and we're going to use that.

Whatever way you choose, have fun and enjoy the countdown :cool1:

Ok thank you!!! I'm sure my daughter will love that !!

I wish I could say my winter hasn't been cold enough. We just had that blizzard with almost 2 ft. Of snow. Now we are getting more this weekend UGH!!!! They are saying 8 in. I sure hope they are wrong!!
I NEED spring!!! Yesterday it was 80 in FL, now I'm back to reality at 33 degrees. :(

Wow. I can't even believe I am back to the Disboards after a 2 YEAR hiatus. Hello everyone.

Can't wait to share and compare on the July thread. Yes, I can't BELIEVE I am going to Florida in July. I have been to the Orlando Florida area over 15 times in my life and I have never EVER gone in Summer. ( My relatives are from Orlando, I live in NJ).

I am a DisneyPhile. Never was until adulthood when the magic snatched my brain. Im hooked.

more later.

I better update my signature. It is WAY off, lol.

So, here's what happened to me to get me to Disney this time. I have inlaws that plan a week vacation with us ( DH, 2 kids and me) and their other son, every year. And every year, since 2006 when they bought this Timeshare, I've asked them, "Hey - lets use it on one near Disney. Just this once". And every year, I am poo pooed, that they are British and can "see real castles in England" and would rather "tour Europe" than see EPCOT, blah blah blah ( you can imagine). So this year, my mother in law, who I really do adore, asked for suggestions. We always give suggestions, husband and I, and then she does what ever she wants, usually Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, or something close in driving distance to them, and always very far for us. But we press on, and usually enjoy the vacation, where ever it is, emensely.

So this year, I once again said, "how about Orlando?" and sent a link to my dream get away, Bonnet Creek. I also sent links to Pigeon Forge, Rehoboth Beach, etc etc etc, knowing that just like every other year, she will thank us for our suggestions, poo poo Disney ( yes, I have small kids, 9 and 6) and book a beach resort, which would be fine. But to my utter shock and surprise, my inlaws decide to book near DISNEY. Not Bonnet Creek mind you, but good enough. I was BEYOND happy. I think I teared up a bit. I will be able to see my favorite aunt, cousins, uncles who live down in Orlando, as well as visit Disney with my family.... but then she told me the dates she booked. July 9-15.... and I ...HATE... HEAT. I live in Northern NJ and spend half the year in artic temperatures. How the heck am I going to survive with my inlaws who claim to "hate" Disney, my belligerent but also loving 43 and single brother in law, my stressed out husband, and my two kids who also aren't used to the heat? Help!

One good thing that should start our journey off right is I booked reservations for 7 at Be Our Guest for July 10th late in the evening. It is really the ONE thing on my bucket list for this Disney trip, and seeing my husband says this is our "last" trip to Disney as a family ( I can always go alone and stay with relatives I guess) I really want to do it right.

Ok I've written a book. I will check in from time to time. The DISboards really helped me with my last trip and I am sure it will be invaluble again this time.

My hotels have changed yet again. We're staying the 2-6 at the Contemporary garden wing.

:welcome: I added you to the list. Sounds like you have a lot of fun things planned. We are trying Seaworld after many years also. Needed something a little different for this trip.

Wow that is a jam packed vacation!
Spider-Man, HP and the Hulk are my sons' favorites and its hard to justify paying all that money for just that ( well for just one day I mean). We've been a few times for a few days and we went last year for 1 day during our "Disney" vacation. It was a lot of money b/c we needed park to park tickets.

We will be at MK the same day as you tiredsports.... That's our only day that's set in stone so far, July 10 at MK, Morning, then back at night. ( We're going to do skip hottest times of days in the park due to heat, small children, old people, just wont work.)

I'm going to Disney World!

This will be my fifth July trip, so I don't need all the people who keep telling me, "Boy, that's going to be hot!" Yeah, I know! I'm still going, people!

The first time I went in July, I was in college and went with a group of twelve friends. I was on crutches due to knee surgery, so they got me a wheelchair and took turns pushing me. At one point, all my friends were griping at the heat and I said, "You know, it's not really that hot." Well, all twelve glared at me (if looks could kill, lol), and one answered, "You're not walking!" I never mentioned the heat again!

Since that trip, I've experienced just how hot and humid it can be in July and how you can still be sweating even at 2:00 am during EMH. But, I don't care - because I'm going to Disney World!

I am a bit late joining the group. Our original plans were for May but work schedule didn't allow for that. So July 15-July 24 at Art of Animation. Can't wait even though this will be my 9th visit I am as giddy as a first timer.
