*** OFFICIAL January 2013 Thread ***

Can you include me too please? Jan 11 - 15 at the Pop. It's my first Disney marathon weekend, first onsite stay, first trip without kids. Lots of firsts!

If your DISMeet happens to fall on Jan 14 I would love to join in and say hello!

Will do! That's a lot of firsts. Very exciting. When I traveled to Tampa, I used to do weekends at Disney by myself -- loved it!!

I'm with you. I'm only taking my daughter out of school for 2 days so hopefully they don't give us a hard time. She hardly ever misses school and we aren't taking her out for any other trips during the school year.

We'll be missing 5 days of school. But my DD will only be in 2nd grade. I plan to miss 5 days as much as we can until it gets too hard for her to catch up.

I didn't even think about that!!!!:scared1:

Oh well, I'll just have to start planning a summer trip as well. :rotfl:

Two trips -- sounds great! Get your AP!:goodvibes

We have settled on our dates :goodvibes 1/27 thru 2/2, probably at AoA

done!

yes this will be the first trip with my children and their grandparents. We went a lot when I was a kid with my parents and my grandmother.

My advice to you would be to preorder the photopass CD. We took both grandparents and my sister in Novembe 2010 to celebrate DD 5th birthday. Between all of us, 9 in our party, the CD was awesome and something we all have to remember our trip together. Enjoy your trip with the extended family and your children!!

Yep, with a large group, getting the photopass is a lot of fun ... and you can get some great photos with everyone in it! Then make a digital photobook for everyone so they can relive the trip again and again!

Great memories and great keepsake!!:goodvibes

Thanks for the suggestion about Photopass. we generally take our own pics, we have five or six cameras between us all and have not been disappointed with the results! I also have the kids journal about their days, I do the same thing, so that we can match up the really important pics to what happened in them.

Part of the fun is making our own scrapbooks, picking out the paper and the frames etc. the actual trip may only be a week, but we can stretch the memories for months LOL.

I'm STILL working on our scrapbook from our trip last January! I've got to get that sucker done before I make ADR's for our next trip, otherwise all hope will be lost and it'll never get done!

We decided to change our dates!! :yay: The date we had planned for originally would have had our kids out of school more than we would like so lucky for us, (and by us I mean mostly me :thumbsup2 lol) we moved it up! New dates are

Arrive Jan. 2

Depart Jan. 8

Does anyone know how full the parks are from holiday crowds after New Years and for how long it stays busy? I know a lot of people are still off for the holidays at this point. The only time I have ever been to Disney was in Jan of 2007 but it was at the end of the month and there was no wait for rides, ADR's or anything. One of the main reasons I wanted to do another Jan trip.

Last week my dh made me a mickey head lamp post, and then I saw these really cute wreaths that were mickey heads that people made, so I got the directions to make them and headed out to my local dollar store where I got the parts to make two wreaths for under $10. It makes me happy ( my kids probably think I am a little weird but that is ok.)

Calling to book our trip tomorrow afternoon.:cool1:

We are planning on being there from January 2-9, but we haven't booked anything yet. Hoping for a good deal!

We were there from Jan 2 -7 in 2010, and other than that first day, it wasn't crowded at all. (And to clarify- it wasn't crowded by Disney standards on that first day. We were just overwhelmed because it was our first time there, and we didn't really understand how everything worked!)

The best tip I picked up before we went two years ago was to hand the photopass photogs YOUR camera. They were all happy to take the group shots for us, and it was much easier to have the images on my memory card than to keep track of the photopass. (IMO anyway.) :)

Oh, we do that too! We figure we have a back up that way -- my camera and Disneys. We just really like the borders we can add to our photos to make them Disney special.

But we have also had issues with our cameras -- batteries die, settings got stuck, forgot camera at hotel, etc. So we learned our lessons to do PP!:thumbsup2

JAN 26TH - FEB 1RST OR 2ND FOR US, first time since 1999 with just hubby and kidlets

Welcome!! Once you have your resort, let me know and I'll add it with the rest of your info on the front page.

Updated! Sorry to hear we won't be going the same week anymore, but this should be a good week, too. Except for 1/2, TP shows the rest of the dates as less crowded than going your original dates! FYI -- 1/2 is a "10" day, so don't plan to do much. All the rest are much lower (3-6s).

Ditto to the borders not to mention the magic shots from PP. We also found it so nice to enjoy every moment instead of worrying about the camera. We all got to be in the pictures everytime instead of taking turns. We will probably do PP again for our January Trip. Can you still prepurchase the CD for $99?

Yay! Thats just perfect. Our first day in the park will actually be the 3rd. Driving with all 4 kiddos, mama needs a break before the park. ;) I planned on checking in, unpacking a bit, walking around the resort and getting familiar with routes, and eating dinner at a different resort. Then, the next morning
( 1/3) arrive for RD and get our fastpasses and enjoy the awesomeness that is Disney World!

Yeah, last trip we tried to get a bunch of new magic shots and it was fun, esp the balloons at MK. We got a really cute one of my DH "flying away with" the balloons and my two girls trying to hold him down. Loved it!

Still looking for the fairy wings magic shot...haven't gotten that one yet.

Unfortunately, the price has increased, so now it's like $120 to preorder, I think. I decided to join a photopass share (I know it's not for everyone) to make it a lot cheaper.

Yeah, just avoid 1/2 and you should be great!

I just booked our room! But, changed the dates just slightly. Checking in on the 5th and departing the 11th. Im sorry you keep having to update me. lol I just couldn't get past the TR for 1/2. The CM I spoke to told me that usually the value season starts on the 2nd but I wanted to make sure so I planned it for just a few days later to be safe. We will be out of there just before the Marathon too. SO now, I just need to wait for the military discount rates for the room to come out and hopefully the military discounted tickets. :scared:

Here is also hoping for FD in JAN!! ;)

Marsha, I saw the flying away pic of your DH from your trip report. That was adorable. They did the balloon shot of DD in Epcot while the monorail was coming in.

UGH $120 now, but I am going to try to add another day today and arrive on January 1st. That will make 8 days at Disney so I will still probably preorder PP. Since I am not on facebook a photo share would be hard?

Let's hope I can still get in at BLT today on January 1.
