Is anyone running the 2012 full as their first marathon?
What are your goals? What's your current long run?
Also, where is everyone staying?

That's me! First full. My goal is to finish. Long run this week was 10. I'm using the MfM plan. Next weekend I'll substitute the St Louis RnR half for the 12 miler. We have a reservation at Pop. I'll probably keep it, but would love to get a good AP discount on something nicer. We're going to splurge on meals and hope to get a MK dessert party reservation.

Got airfare today!!!! Frontier announce seasonal non-stop to MCO and at a GREAT price!!!!!!! Woo-hoo. First time it's been under $200 in ages. Also got car rental done. All done but the waiting.

Today's run was with with the Kansas City Marathon and Half Marathon. My long run route crossed and went with the race route for a few miles. Very cool. Love seeing the volunteers. It was a perfect day for the races. Started in the mid to low 40s. Just perfect!

Let's hear about everyone's training. Especially Tinkerboy.

My own info: running a 14 miler tomorrow (last week was 12). First full, though I'm still not 100% sure this is a good idea. I'm using a modified Hal Higdon Novice 2 plan.

We don't have reservations yet, but planning on staying at either the Contemporary, Grand Floridian or WL.

I ran my second marathon training run today in preparation for Goofy. I finished with a 23 minute PR, and I'm fairly certain I never had a hit the wall moment. I started and ended with the same pace group, and it was nice not having to think about my pace. It got tough towards the end, but I think that's typical of any race. I hope training is going well for everyone. The countdown I have on my phone says we're leaving in 81 days!

I ran in the Baltimore Running Festival today... team relay third leg. It was a beautiful day!! I finished in 1:03 and am really happy with my time. More importantly I felt great during the run and I think it was good training for the WDW full.

Anyone else run Bmore this year?

Hello everyone!
Hope training is going good... Time flies!
I was wondering if those who have participated in the marathon weekend know approx. how many corals there are and which one I would be in if my predicted finish time is 5h30?
I'd like to have an idea of the distance between myself and the 16min/mile "police" :rotfl: at the start!

For those doing a long run like myself tomorrow... enjoy!
For those who did theirs today... good job!

I just need to complain. I know you guys will understand. Training for my third Goofy. Did a 16 mile run yesterday. It was awful. The weather was fine, but I was SOOOOO slow and had to stop and walk more than usual. I did not feel like i was injured just everything hurt. I was so disappointed. Thankfully my ice bath did make me feel a little better. Of course it is the next day and my back is sore. Am supposed to run today but not sure I can do it. Will take the dogs for a nice long walk, hoping that will help me loosen up.

The week before I did 12 and it was a good run. Just seems this year training I have been struggling with times.

I guess I should be happy that I did it.

Thanks for listening

Although not a runner, I had the same experience last week. I too have Goofy to think about, my second, but first and foremost is the Space Coast 1/2M at the end of Nov. My goal is to walk it in under 2 hours so I am gearing my training towards that goal before the Goofy.

I was set for a 10 mile walk last week and had hoped to maintain a 10mpm pace but after 10 feet I knew that was not going to happen. Legs felt like I had lead boots on so I immediately decided on a 10K 11mpm pace instead. Sometimes you just go with the flow or let the flow/or lack of it, guide you and wait for a better day. Injuries have a way of happening when pushing things.

Kris As hard as it may be, just try to forget your run. And it's probably too late to say don't run today (although I always take a rest day the day after a LR). You may never know why a run goes bad. It's best to try and "put the past behind you" to quote both Timon and Forrest Gump (just on TV!).Hope your next one goes better.

I deferred my LR til tomorrow since yesterday was rainy and windy and today I spent 8 hours at the Free Press Marathon giving out medals. It was an exhausting, yet inspirational occasion.

First for me, and I'm hoping for around 4:15 finish time (I squeezed out a sub 2 hour half marathon last month @ 1:59:37). Maybe the elevation change from where I'm at (5000 ft) will give me a little boost. Current long run is 15 miles.

We're staying at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. I'm also hoping for some nice cool temps (high 40's to 50 at race start), since I'll be coming from cold weather training.

This has been me too, although now Ive been sick with a cold for two weeks and not getting my runs in.

Beginning to think Im only built for HALFs

We decided to deferr out of the MCM in two weeks, but my runs are not so good, I feel ill prepared, and DH can't run because he threw his back out.

We are now thinking to drop out of Goofy and just do the FULL in Jan as our first FULL, or to stay in Goofy, walk the Half and then run the Full. We'll see.

Feeling bummed about dropping out of MCM but probably for the best. Just wish I could shake this cold/allergies.

No shame in taking it easy on Saturday with the Donald....:donald:

It will be my first full and first Goofy! Figured it would probably be my one and only marathon so if I wanted that Goofy medal, it's now or never. I have ran 4 half marathons though. Just finished the Wine and Dine at an 11:04/mile pace which is slower than my 10:14/mile pace at last year's W&D but I've had some issues with my lower leg and foot this year.

Since I'll be doing the Goofy, my goal is to just finish. Hopefully, I'll be able to run/walk at 12:00-13:00/mile pace. My goal is to do the Donald in about 2:45 and the Mickey in 5:30-6:00. Last week I did my first long back to back run/walks. I did 7 miles at a 12:12/mile pace and the next day I did 17 miles at a 12:34/mile pace. And I felt good after both of them!

We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas!

Since you'll be trained for the full, you might as well do the half too and get the Goofy medal. Just go out on Saturday and have a nice easy run. By backing off on your pace and treating the half as one of your long training runs, you won't expend too much energy and will have plenty in reserve for the full on Sunday.

Hi all, I noticed online I could get the general public 30% off room discount for my last night after trying different dates with my sold out BCV.
Called disney to get it and the lady says the discount is available for all 5 nights. So I canceled previous res and rebooked, saving over 300 dollars.
Not sure why all of a sudden there was availability because I have been checking when the visa and then later gp discounts came out plus checking online. But I told another person on here and they also got the discount at BCV.
So if you didn't get the discount before because of rooms being full at rate, you might want to try calling today. Good luck!

BTW, ran my second marathon this weekend with a 42 minute improvement over my first, the disney 2011. Week of rest then full on training for goofy this january.

Well I did not run on sunday after the long run. I took the dogs on a nice long walk so i did have time on my feet. I can run for 3 hours without getting a blister, I walk the dogs for an hour and a half and have a blister.

Did run 4 easy miles this morning. Felt good helped me loosen up.

Everyone keep up the good work.

Getting back into the groove of things and went 4.38 miles today. Averaged just under a 12 min mile. I'm looking to do the half on Saturday and the relay on Sunday. I am hoping this will give me a good taste of what it's like to do back to back because I'd really like to do Goofy in 2013 and get the Mickey 20th anniversary medal. Worst case I'm still doing Mickey in 2013.

The main reason I am doing this run is for a co-worker. He ran the half in 2011, then after the race was diagnosed with cancer. At first he was given lots of hope. From his first diagnoses in Feb 2011 until about May 2011 it went from stage 1 to stage 4 through out his body. The treatment he got in our area wasn't the best, it was to the point that they actually admitted cancer spots were overlooked and treatment was not as agressive as it should have been. So, he decided to seek treatment options just over the boarder in Buffalo NY. He got a reply from the facility there recently saying that it has gone to far at this point and there isn't anything they can do to help. So, the run in 2011 was most likely his last.

As for me, my runs over the past couple weeks have been like a rollercoaster. I have been nursing the start of achilles tendonits. Took a few days off of running. Things were feeling good, no tightness or pain so went for a run (5 miles) on the weekend. The whole run was bad, eat to much before the run, rain and wind, chose the wrong clothes to counter the rain. My time was more than 1:30 off my usual pace. My legs were feeling good when I got home, decided to try a cold water bath in an effort to keep the soreness in check. A couple hours later my achilles started up again.

Finally, good news. After taking it easy for another couple of days decided to try a run again. Legs were feeling good and no issues prior to the run. Don't know why I didn't think of it before but took my orthotics inserts out of a pair of everyday shoes and put them into my runners. Well the run turned out to be my best so far. Ran 5miles with an average pace that was 15 seconds better than the previous best pace. Did the cold water soak again after this run and feel great this morning. No tightness or pain. I am still head for massage therapy this afternoon and getting another pair of orthotics for the runners.
