*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

Welcome, your details are on the first post!

What kind of temp did you have last year?

Thank you! I think it was in the 60's most of the time. We were comfortable in jeans and long or short sleeve shirts. But needed a fleece in the mornings and at night. We brought large disney beach towels that my kids used as blankets in the stroller.
I remember they'd just had two weeks of very warm weather at the end of January, before we arrived, so you just never know!

It's really all relative. Some people will want to bundle up in 60's and some will want to wear shorts.

We've had various kinds of weather in January/February. Shorts weather, pants weather. And one super cold year we had coats, scarves, and hats (at night.)

I am hoping the forecast will help me decide what to pack right before the trip. I kind of hope we won't need shorts because my son doesn't currently have any that fit very well at all. Over the Summer I got some 24 month sized shorts/shirts thinking that's what he'd need for February but they still seem really big. (And unfortunately his 18 month stuff from Summer has been washed so much that it's all kind of small!)

So true! Last year my kids hardly even wore their long sleeve shirts. We were above 70 most of the winter- it was an awesomely warm winter, even if I did waste money on long sleeved shirts! So, to us, 60 is really cold. A high in the 60's is dead of winter weather. But, if you are coming from MN, 60 is probably great!

Yeah, our high on Tuesday is going to be 8 degrees. So 60 this time of year is quite warm to me.

Though I will say...when it's warm at Disneyland during the day, 60 at night does seem chilly since the temp can drop so much.

I have never seen Frozen and we won't be wasting time meeting Olaf. But if the line isn't long...we may have to see about taking our son down this tiny sledding hill (unless there's a height requirement or something...)

So cute!

60 here in the desert is pretty chilly and 45ish is really cold- colder than I think 45 should feel- lol! My kids wear pants for any high under 80!

I bought $200 of Target gift cards on Black Friday for 10% off. I should have bought $260, but I wasn't thinking! The other $40 I bought for teachers' gifts for my kids. Anyway, I just cashed that in for Disney gift cards saving $20. Woot! 20 bucks is 20 bucks, right! I have about $500 in rewards money from my Disney Visa and I was given $100 Disney gift card as part of my teacher Christmas gift. Since we are buying tickets through Orbitz, I told DH if we don't go nuts on souvies- we might even have gift cards left to save for Aulani! He said.... Uh, don't go nuts on souvies? Yeah..... that won't happen! :rotfl:

I am telling the kids they get one shirt, one hat, one pin, one toy from us. They don't have lanyards, so we will buy that as well this trip. I am also going to pull $20-30 out of their piggy banks for their "own money" to spend on whatever they want. Because they are pretty young, I will spot them if they are close, it is more a lesson in choosing wisely and when the money is gone, it's gone. So like if they choose something that is $40, I won't stress it, but if they choose a $100 toy, uh, no- you don't have that much! Chances are, they will pick something around $10 anyway, so I figure they can choose 2-3 things to buy themselves.

We always struggle to get them to bed on vacation. It is a brutally annoying and tiresome process. I bought a four pack of Disney Jr pins on the cruise DH and I went on last May for our anniversary, just planning on giving them to them for this trip. So- we also have 3 nights. I came up with the idea to give them each a pin for every night they go to sleep without coming in our room. If they do it all three nights (really wishful thinking based on experience), then the third pin they can pick themselves at the park. This is totally worth the cost of the pins in my book and the first 2 pins per kid, we already bought and were planning on giving them anyway!

How long did it take you to rack up $500 rewards on your Disney Visa? We have one but it's taken us forever and we don't have anything close to that. Boo.

My son is so used to his routine. It could be really weird for him on vacation and with the time change. We're basically just going to go with the flow and not plan on being anywhere at any certain time. Except maybe 1 day we'll try to hit rope drop. And we have 1 lunch reservation. Other than that...we'll just have to follow his cues.

About 2 years, but we remodeled our bathrooms last year and used it for that, so that really racked up the points. Generally I just use it for everything and pay it off each month and have 60-100 every year or two.

My kids are super routine kids too. 95% of the time I love it and it makes our lives easy, but sometimes, it stinks! Bedtime is at 7 and I can count the number of times they have been put to bed after 8 on one hand. On all our previous trips, we returned to the hotel by 7ish. Last trip we tried to let it ride, but they were meltdown city at 6:30 so we turned in. We did Sea World this past June and one, they stroller napped- previously unseen in our world despite trying and two- although we did leave after dinner, I think they had at least another hour in them. So, we are going to be more flexible this time. I don't plan to try to make it for fireworks, but 8:00 would be great. Rope drop is no problem for my early birds!

Henry doesn't always do things at the same time. But it's always the same order...

Wake up, breakfast, play, snack, play, lunch, nap, snack, play, dinner, play, bottle, play, bed.

The times can vary. The past week, he's been sleeping in until 9am. And not going to bed until 9:30 or 10pm. He pretty much just follow his cues. We want to try to do that on vacation too but it could be interesting.

I certainly don't want him sleeping in late every day. But we'll probably let him on the first day, at the very least.

It's a 2 hour time difference though so who knows how that will play into it.

I'm worried about the castle being covered (sorry for bringing it up again). We're considering changing our travel dates if it does happen. This trip is costing 10 grand....Surely Disneyland know if they're covering the castle or not. Why can't it be dressed over night?

I don't know. I asked on Twitter and they said they'd look into it and let me know. No word yet though.

Do you think they want people to know? Just for the risk of cancelled holidays? I feel like they don't care because the locals will go regardless.

I don't know. I kind of wondered about that and if that's why they hold back their refurb schedule and whatnot.

I don't know why they won't say. When I contacted the CM who knew nothing online, she had NO info that the castle would be closed at all. It is frustrating- just say one way or another!

9AM would be such a dream! I had to get a sleep clock for my son to get him to sleep until 5:45! We had MONTHS of 4:45 just before he was 2 and the sun was up early. If both of them sleep past 6:00, it is notable. We alternate days getting up with them and we always (jokingly) complain when the other one got a 6AM day, like today. My son was up at 6:06 and my daughter was up at 6:21. I gave my hubby a hard time for getting to sleep in on his day! But even when they have stayed up a little later, they are still up by 6:00. Maybe 6:30/7:00 if they were up after 9:00, which has only happened like twice! They are just early birds. The Disney Channel is my BFF between 5:45-6:30!

Ok I had to change my dates...I was going in Jan but things came up...I am now going Feb 5-9,,staying at the Carousel Hotel.....Celebrating our First Anniversary :cheer2::cheer2:

Welcome! I am having issues editing from my phone but I will add your info in the morning!

Made 1st Dining reservation! Goofy's Kitchen here we come! DD's are going to be so excited. We've done Ariel's Grotto in past (loved) but never Goofy's. We will dine at Goofy's the evening after arriving around 2:00 pm....made our reservation for 5:15 pm. :cool1:

Plan to make a few more reservations as days open...Blue Bayou/Fantasmic, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, Big Thunder Ranch BBQ, and Tortilla Joes. Love to take a little break from hussle and bussel for family diner.

I don't know how some are doing it?..but this year I'm purchasing gift cards (ahead of time) for our diner dinning places so we will have a big chunk of food budget pre-paid for.
