*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

I've come learn that no matter when you go there's going to be something going on. Whether it be a ride refurbishment or huge crowds. I think I can deal with a few rides down more than I want to deal with two hours in line waiting for some rides, especially with a kid in tow. We are going the first week of February so I'm keeping an eye on this thread for closures. So far, I'm only bummed about the Matterhorn.

Yep I keep trying to keep in mind that closures need to happen and that "we will still have fun" but at some point it's just too much you know.

I am seriously ill and planning what could be our ONLY family trip, at some point what is the point. A "budget" trip is going to cost us about $7000 - we are a family of seven. It's great that Disney is spending all this effort on an event later in the year, but what about the guests who are going before that? Everything else was fine, well the trains where a blow, but the Castle IS Disneyland - if I'm going all that way, going to be pushing myself to the max to do this both physically and financially and my little girls won't even be able to SEE the Castle then why even bother? We could go to Lego Land or Six Flags or Great Wolf and they would enjoy it just as much as Disneyland without a castle for little girls who believe that princesses really live there and want to see their house!

I am so sorry to hear about your health. I completely understand. May be worth a call to see if the castle will be covered. It's very possible it's just the walk through. What are your dates?

By the way, can our trip dates be updated to 2/3-2/7. We've added a couple days and doing the whole week now. Serious happy birthday to me. I should post the surprise video when my son found out yesterday.

It looked like this when they were putting all of the gold stuff on for the 50th celebration. So it wouldn't surprise me if the same happened for the 60th with diamonds....

This really wouldn't bother me because my son is so young...the castle means nothing to him anyway.

I am a bit annoyed that they aren't offering a ticket discount during this time though. I am still holding out hope that in the new year they will add something.

Since then though, they have been putting up themed tarps that look like what is behind it. Not the same- but WAY better than that ^^^ !

I knew there would be a lot of refurbs so I am okay with that. For history's sake- here are my dates 2/7-10) the last 3 years:

2014

Fantasmic
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Sailing Ship Columbia
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
Splash Mountain
Mark Twain Riverboat

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
DJ's Dance and Drive show – dark February 6–13
Disney's Aladdin

2013

Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island – closed through February 7.
Cafe Orleans – closed through February 8 for refurbishment.
Fantasmic!
Splash Mountain
Mad Tea Party
"it's a small world"
Mark Twain Riverboat
Main Street Train Station – closed through March 28 for refurbishment. The Disneyland Railroad is operational during this time, but will bypass the Main Street Station.
Pioneer Mercantile
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Trail, Big Thunder Ranch and Big Thunder Ranch BBQ
Princess Fantasy Faire/Fantasyland Theater
Troubadour Treats
Plaza Gardens

Muppet Vision 3D
Silly Symphony Swings –
Grizzly River Run

2012 I think all the Main St stuff was behind themed tarps if I remember right

Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor
Candy Palace
Penny Arcade
Refreshment Corner
Blue Ribbon Bakery
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Sailing Ship Columbia
Fantasmic!
Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port

Grizzly River Run

So Fantasmic was down all three years, so this year is WOC instead. Big Thinder Mt was down for 3 of those years, sub out Matterhorn for this year and 2012 and those cancel each other etc. I knew this is a high refurb time- especially with the 60th coming, but it does stink when you see the reality for this trip- even though I saw it coming! There are still a ton of things open and no Pooh stuff means less walking to that far corner! We will stop at City Hall and see if the Pooh characters will be roaming at all. Hopefully we can catch them!

OMG_ I am on live chat and it is so frustrating! I sent her the link to the Canadian site Clara linked asking about the castle and she says she does not know what site I am looking at and links me to the US site which does not have the castle on it! So she says the castle is not under refurb at all- but I would not take her word at all! She also told me I see no times available for Ariels because it is not under 60 days away. :confused3

I agree. For the 50th when it was tarped, it started in like the fall. It is very possibly the walk through which is totally skipable. Your girls won't even know it was there! I am sorry about your health and I am sure this trip will still be very magical!

At the very bottom, this is the one that lists the castle... https://disneyland.disney.go.com/ca/calendar/#/default/2015/02/06

Yeah, I sent her that link and she said she was not showing it as being down, but I swear she was just looking at the main site and had no more info than I do just from reading the website. She also said she did not see any Ariel's Grotto closure, or any DCA closures at all in Feb. The main site wasn't showing any at the time I called. It is again, I think she was looking at the same info that any person could see!

I can only see things through the 6th so far.

Just had a quick look see and what is on the 6th for closures in on the 7th as well, exactly the same, neither mention the castle as being closed

But on the calendar you linked earlier, does list it as being closed...Like to know which one to believe

Yet this Disneyland calendar has the castle as being open as at 7/2...

Yeah, it's really frustrating that there are two different calendars on the official site. They really need to get their act together.

I guess we'll all get to be 'surprised' when we arrive in the parks.

I generally try and avoid the refurb calendar until a week out from out trip and even then I prepare for last minute changes.

Even though it can be really frustrating to miss favourite rides, I try to be quite zen about it. We ended up missing BTMRR 3 or possibly 4 trips in a row. We were there in March and our last 1/2 day there was the AP preview event and as we were AP holders I was so excited. Unfortunately that morning our son started throwing up at 2:45 am so no BTMRR for us that trip!

I totally get the disappointment especially if this is your one trip but until you get there you never know what will happen!

I normally don't care. We've been to the park so much that I don't really care if I end up missing things. It sucks if a favorite is closed but it's not the end of the world.

This trip, is different, however. This is our son's first trip. I know we'll be back again. But they change so fast. So this is the only trip he'll have as a toddler. I was really looking forward to taking him on Winnie the Pooh because he has a stuffed Pooh he loves so much. I know he doesn't know what he's missing. But let's be honest, this trip is really for US to enjoy watching him enjoy things (since he'll have no memory of any of it.)

Then again, he could hate all dark rides anyway...haha!

Hi,
My friend and I will be there Friday the 5th to Sunday the 8th. Just a short trip.:)

I might stop looking at the calendar till closer to the date.

I am disappointed about the castle maybe being closed & covered, I would love a pic in front of the castle, so I am hoping that is just a rumour that won't occur.

We may never get back, since the costs involved.

Que sera sera...We are going to have an awesome time, whole new country and whole new adventure.
