Official February 2014 Thread...

I have yet to run into the Cheer group. Can't be any worse than the tour groups during the summer. I learned to just turn in the other direction when you see the groups.

Also when can I make dining reservations? Is that was ADR stands for? My immediate family is young and this is only our second trip. I've been many many times as a child with my parents though. Planning it yourself is totally different haha.

So I was wondering, is getting a dining plan worth it? We totally plan to bring a ton of snacks with us this time on the plane in our luggage as last time we realized everything costs an arm and a leg even for bananas or just little snacks. Wasn't too sure if it was worth it for dining though.

Welcome! You can make dining reservations for your entire trip (assuming it's 10 days or less) 180 days prior to your arrival date. ADR stands for advance dining reservation.

In my opinion, the quick service dining plan is never worth it unless you would order the most expensive item on the menu almost every time and would always get a drink and a dessert with your meals. For me, it is way too much food and I would spend less paying OOP (out of pocket). It costs about $40 per day for adults and about $15 per day for kids 3-9. Kids under 3 cannot be on the plan. Personally, I spend less than $30 a day on food (breakfast in room with stuff brought from home), so it's not worth it for me.

I have never had the regular dining plan, so maybe others could chime in about that. From what I understand, it can be worth it if you plan on a having lots of expensive meals like character dining. This one is about $55/$17.

My suggestion would be to go to allears.net and look out the menus and price out what your family would typically eat in a day based on your normal eating habits. If it is less then $40 if you eat all quick service or less than $55 if you plan on half quick, half table, the dining plan probably won't be worth it for you.

One thing a lot of people do who like the convenience of having their meals prepaid but don't like the cost of the dining plan is to buy Disney gift cards and load those up to pay for their meals.

I hope this helps! Happy planning!

The BOG adr was easier then CP. The earliest I could get for CP was830 am but I will keep checking on that one.

We're going in Feb. too! Get to make our ADRs next week hoping for a before the park opens CP so we can get those great empty Main Street with castle in the back ground pics! :) Here's to hoping! Still hoping a pin pops up in our mailbox too or that S/P/D goes public later and we can get it! So far we're rack rate for everything! OUCH!

Thank you! That was really helpful! What does BOG stand for?

I found a spreadsheet on another DIS board to input your meals nad whether a dining plan or OOP was cheaper and it was super helpful in addition to your post. We're definitely better off OOP!

Glad I could help! Spreadsheets are awesome! They helped me figure out that whether a free dining or room only discount would be better for us. But no discounts are out yet, I'm just planning ahead!

BOG is Be Our Guest, the new Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant. It is quick service for lunch (order at a kiosk, food is delivered to your table) but lines can be quite long to get inside, half an hour or more. It is table service for lunch and since it is still so new it is often hard to get an ADR. If you're interested, definitely be online at 6am EST on your 180 day mark.

The dining spreadsheet is fantastic. :). DBF and I sat down with it a couple of weeks ago to decide if we wanted the dining plan or not. I happen to like the DDP, just because everything is pretty much paid upfront, that and there have been a few trips where it has been free ;)

DBF did an amazing spreadsheet for tracking out payments and who has paid what, as we are splitting the cost of the trip.

I can do our ADR's in a few days (3!), and can't wait!!

We're undecided on an exact date, but Feb is the top of the list. We went Feb 2013 and it was amazing - perfect weather, not too busy... amazing!

Was able to make all my ADRs this morning with a few exceptions that surprised me: Via Napoli, La Hacienda, Spirit of Aloha and Fantasmic. I was also unable to reserve at California Grill... guess the reno isn't yet complete.

Disappointed that the park hours still aren't available for February!

I'm still not able to make mine for February. Maybe I need another few days, but when I try to do it online, February is still blacked out.:sad2:

Thank you! Yes I so want to go there! We usually do Chef Mickey's and an Epcot table service (we rotate countries) and since we'll be at the boardwalk we're doing the brewery. Otherwise we do quick service most of the time because we're cheap!

Are you talking about making dining reservations online? Your ticker says you have 186 days to go... You will be ale to make reservations at the 180 day mark. (If I have totally misunderstood your post, I apologize).

No apologies necessary!!! A couple other people had mentioned that they were able to make them for February, so I gave it a shot, but when I tried the entire month of February was still blacked out. I couldn't even pick any date, let alone when I would be there. I thought someone had also mentioned it was 180 days + 10. not sure what that means :confused3 but I thought it meant 190 days. haha! No worries! I will try next week which is when I was planning to try anyway. Just gotta get the CP for my son's birthday breakfastpixiedust:

Just an fyi I was told by a cm that via napolis tables have not been loaded for Feb yet.
