*totally bumping this because I hope someone will answer my Boardwalk Bakery questions*

We will be celebrating my dd's 7th bday in April and I would Love to order her a custom cake, but she does not like cakes. Does anyone know if you can get decorated cookies delivered to 1900 pf or chocolate covered strawberries? If so, any ideas on pricing?

What about a chocolate slipper? We got one for DD at 1900 PF. It's under 20 bucks.:thumbsup2

Thank you, Lisa! That's just what I needed!

Great! Now I can go looking at cakes and choose a design.

I am new to this thread. I thought someone here might be able to answer my question. I am making a cake for a beach themed bridal shower and was wondering if it is okay to use real sea shells on the cake? Has anyone done this?

Mixie..what is your question about the BW Bakery? We got a wonderful cake from there in January...I haven't had a chance to post the picture yet but it was amazingly beautiful and tasted just as delicious!

I was wondering if they do the fancy cakes like as seen in the second post of this thread - meaning are all the great flavors/fillings/icings avail there or were they more the restaurant style cakes.

We're celebrating 20 years and I wanted to know ahead of time what kind of cake they would make - didn't want to get my heart set on something and find that you can only get it at the GF or something.

**confession - I have no idea what fondant tastes like - it doesn't look very edible - am I totally wrong about it? **

As long as they have been washed with soap and water and then well rinsed, you're fine to use real shells. Make certain that the shells you use are whole, uncracked and are not chipped.

You'll also want to warn your guests that the shells are not edible.

Fondant is edible but generally doesn't taste very good. It has the texture of modeling clay and frankly, I think I'd rather eat that.

I have been sorting through these threads and am amazed by some of the gorgeous cakes:wizard:

Am I understanding this correctly...If I want a custom ("fancy") cake at Ohana, I need to order it from CR?
Does anyone know what the delivery charge is?
Can I get a square cake?

We are celebrating our anniversary at WDW and think the cake sounds like a fun idea!

:laughing:I make cakes and have started making marshmallow fondant, instead. It tastes better, but is still uber sweet!!!

Thank you. So, no fondant for sure. DD would *not* be happy if she couldn't eat the 'icing'.

Mixie-I am not sure and if I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me. Under the 'fancy icing' is usually the GOOD icing, so she would be able to eat it. I know from purchasing a wedding cake with it on that my baker had the fondant over the icing and he told us to peel it off if we didn't like the taste because there would be really sweet stuff under it. There was!

Hi everyone. We're staying at the BC end of May-beginning of June and wanted to order from the Beach Club private dining for a custom cake. I was trying to think of something different than Mickey or Minnie and my daughter loves Bolt. I looked all over but hadn't seen anyone else post a pic of one, so has anyone ever seen a Bolt cake?

And have you all had good luck with the BC bakery?

Bumping this because I have pretty much the same question about any experiences with the Beach Club bakery. We are looking for a Toy Story cake similar to the ones I've seen in this thread. TIA for an info :goodvibes

The YC/BC bakery makes some of the prettiest cakes on property. Unlike the other bakeries, I've never see anyone get something totally disappointing. I've seen some from the other deluxe bakeries that made grocery store cakes look really nice. ;) YC/BC seem to get fewer orders, therefore they take their time & do it right. That's my impression anyway. If that was one of my options, I would order through their private dining w/o a 2nd thought.

I ended up going with a bakery in Kissimee for my cakes because the Disney ones seemed so hit or miss. They were expensive, but worth every penny!

The Mike one is coconut cake with key lime filling, and the Wall-E one is red velvet with cream cheese filling.

Ours was vanilla buttercream with fondant over it. We cut each piece then just peeled the fondant off. It came off very easily.

To order the slipper desserts for dinner at CRT , do I call the Cake Hot Line !!Iwill neded 2 for DGDS 16th birthday in August !! Do they offer choices of white chocolate or regular and different mousses !!??

Yes, call the Cake Hotline. You can try requesting a specific flavor, but it seems like it's kind of a crapshoot what you'll get.

All the Deluxe resorts' Private Dining departments offer other sweet treats besides cakes, but the selection varies. Call GF Private Dining to see what your options are: 407-824-2474

Yes, call Private Dining at CR: 407-824-2955. There is no delivery fee. You'll need to speak to the pastry chef to see if they can do a square cake.

As the previous poster said, there is always a layer of buttercream under the fondant in order to stick the fondant to the cake. You just peel off the fondant/eat around it.

Great cakes! Would you mind sharing the name of the bakery and the prices of the cakes for our future reference? :thumbsup2
