Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

So after wading through all 126 pages of this thread I have found the cake I would like to order for my DH's birthday but I have a couple of questions I was hoping to get help on from my fellow DISers.

1. We have many ADRs but his actual birthday dinner is at Tutto Italia but from what I am reading you can't get a specialty cake there? Is that right?

2. I really think he would like the Mad Hatter but where can I get that delivered to?

3. Also there are 3 adults and 2 kids and a newborn in our party is the one tiered Mad Hatter cake too big for us?

4. I want to do the Wishes Dessert party so depending on when that is will likely depend on when we will get our cake so the restaurant can change within our already scheduled ADRs.

Any help is appreciated. We aren't going until June but want to plan ahead as our life will get even crazier in the next two months with the addition of #3.

In my post #1879- the 3 cakes that I listed are the options that the CM gave me for the World Showcase restaurants. From what I have read I believe you need to dine somewhere that the Contemporary bakery delivers to.

Thank you I did see the flavors but must have missed the first part. I do have an ADR for Kona Cafe so I am assuming that Contemporary will deliver there?

I "think" Contemporary will deliver to Kona cafe. I would just give a call to Private dining. We also have 3 adults and 2 kids for our 8" cake. I know there will be 3/4 left so I just plan on sharing with anyone around our table or waitstaff.

Question!

(Because I may have just had a fabulous idea!)

I love, love, love the Haunted Mansion Cake! It's absolutely beautiful!! (My family's favorite ride is Haunted Mansion!)

I had planned for us to eat at CRT on our MNSSHP day. Can I order the Haunted Mansion cake from Brian at the Contemporary to be delivered to the CRT?

If so, can I do it (cake + delivery) for under or right at $100?

Thanks so much!!

Oh, also, how far in advance do you need to order?

That is what I would do but I k ow MIL will have a fit about it even though I am the one paying for it. She is selfish that way so I might have to come up with another idea.

We are going to WDW for my daughter's 16th birthday. We are having dinner on her birthday, March 31, at the California Grill. I know exactly what I want, with pictures, thanks to this thread. Is it too early to order it? Should I wait a couple more weeks? Any input would be appreciated!

My sister-in-law ordered this cake last week at Chef Mickey's for my niece's bday. I dont know all the details but I think it was a 10" for $55 and Chef Brian made it. It had pink fondant icing and was chocolate cake and it was delicious!

On our trip this past August it was my boyfriends 21st birthday. Since he was away from home for his birthday his mom wanted to do something special for him so she ordered a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery.
She ordered a 10inch cake (it was huge and we had A LOT left over, but it didn't go to waste!)
It was vanilla cake with fruit filling, which left us all guessing what kind of fruit it would be and it turned out to be a delicious strawberry cream.
We wanted to include Paul's "favorite" character so we asked if they could include something Buzz Lightyear which turned out to be an edible photograph on the cake.
The cake was covered with regular white/vanilla frosting and had blue and green piped borders around it.
The cake was AMAZING, it honestly reminded me of a strawberry shortcake and it wasn't too sweet or rich so it made eating it all week something we enjoyed instead of dreaded.
The cake was actually delivered to our Boardwalk Resort room during the afternoon of his birthday on a break we took from our day at the Magic Kingdom by 2 men in wonderful white chefs coats. Not a complaint to be found from any of us.
The price I believe was just under $50.

This is a cool cake! Looks much better than my $65 8" cake at Chef Mickeys.
I would have much rather paid $55 for that than what I paid for this. :sad2:

A good rule of thumb is 2 weeks out. :thumbsup2

Sounds like you know exactly what to do! A good time to start calling is 2 weeks out. :)

thanks lurkyloo!!!!

can't wait to surprise my DD and our friends!!!

Has anyone ordered a cake at Kouzzina? I imagine it would come from the boardwalk bakery but just wanted to see if there was any good / bad experiences out there for this restaurant and it's cake practices.

Thank you.

I noticed the last time the index was updated was July '10. Any plans to add more to the index page? Looking for an Ariel cake.

I can't remember if I ever posted this here, but here's the "podium cake" we requested when we checked in for our Brown Derby reservation at Hollywood Studios in October. I was curious to see if it would be like the ones at Epcot I refer to as "Easy-Bake Oven Cakes" or more like the supermarket-style podium cakes at the Magic Kingdom. $21 + tax later.... it turned out to be identical to the 6-inch celebration cakes you can get at the Magic Kingdom and at the resorts.

I like supermarket cake, so I was fine with it. It was fairly moist, with tooth-achingly sweet buttercream frosting. Sorry the shots aren't that great—low lighting and all...

This is the cake we ordered last August from private dining at Yacht & Beach Club and had delivered to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for my son's 10th birthday. I just never got around to posting it. I thought they did a great job. Space Mountain is his favorite ride so I asked for a Space Mountain cake.

Wow! Are the decorations entirely made out of fondant? Do you mind posting how much it cost, what the flavor choices were, what size it was, etc. for the benefit of the Cake Photo Thread, which your post will eventually be transfered to? Thanks!
