Can someone please remind me.... If I order the cake for delivery to Narcoossee's, will I be able to apply a TIW discount toward it? Thanks!

First, that Christmas mini cake is adorable!!!

I think the price quoted sounds in line with the quotes we've received. We've always received a $45 quote for a mini cake that's entirely plain inside (vanilla cake, white frosting) and covered in fondant. In the past, when I've asked about the price difference for fondant vs. no fondant, it's been $5 or $6. The top of the cake has only increased in price if we try to add a 2D figure. But the price has not changed for the mickey ears or something made out of frosting on top. This cake was $45 + $3 room delivery charge plus tax and gratuity, bringing the total around $63:

So with the filling requests, I'm not surprised to see the quote at $50.

We used our TIW discount for a cake delivered to Chef Mickey's in January. I was initially hesitant about having a cake delivered to our room this summer because we had to give up the TIW discount. So for us, room delivery is about $12 more for a mini cake. (I'm assuming we can't TIW for room service, but is that right?) We've found the room delivery is worth giving up the TIW discount - we don't have to package and transport leftovers after a meal, and we don't have to eat cake right away after (we usually don't eat dessert until much later.) I really like working with CR, but don't want to be tied to the restaurants they serve when making ADRs. It was so fun for the kids to see the cake waiting in our room!

Yes, but that also automatically adds 18% gratuity to the price of the cake in addition to the meal.

Hello all! I've read the whole thread and there have been some really wonderful cakes out there! We'll be celebrating my husband's birthday on our late January trip and I'm thinking of surprising him with a cake. The best times will either be at breakfast at Captain's Grille or having it delivered to our room while we're out. We'll be having dinner at Flying Fish, but it's likely we'll hit Jellyroll's after that. We're staying at the Yacht Club, so I think either breakfast or in-room delivery would work, but would I call Yacht/Beach private dining for both? Or would I call the cake hotline for Captain's Grill? I'm interested in a 6 or 8 inch Star Wars themed cake (there will be 5 adults in our party and we're fine with leftovers). Chocolate buttercream or Ganache. Maybe a 2D image on top with lighting effects if possible. Suggestions on which route to go and which number to call are greatly appreciated!

So I ordered a cake to be delivered to BOG in a couple weeks. The process couldn't have been easier. I sent an email to the magic kingdom address with all the specifics I wanted on Wednesday night. I heard back from someone, I believe her name is Amy, yesterday saying she sent my email to the bakery and was waiting to hear back from them on price, ect. Received a second email this morning stating they could do what I wanted but it needed to be on an 8in (I asked for a 6in with the mickey and minnie ear hats on top), price quote $106. I sent her one back saying that was fine, how do I order. And I received one back stating she placed the order and attached it to my confirmation number at BOG and I was all set. So easy! Now I'm hoping it looks great. $106 was more than what I was hoping to spend but it's for my parents 40th anniversary. I didn't ask for anything too fancy, just the heads and red and white flowers on the top and piped mickeys on the side. I'll report back after our trip how it was.

You call Y&B private dining for either option.

Well I've ordered my cakes! Process was pretty easy and the communication from the Contemporary was just fine, but I'm a little put out with the prices. I ordered the mini castle cake for $30, I wanted the two tier mini castle cake but as quoted $60 for that! I decided it was too much and went with the regular mini castle and not two tier.

The second cake is a 6" cake with a 2d figure on top, fondant and a few flowers. I was surprised that it was quoted at $74! I initially wanted the white chocolate slipper on top with the 2d figure but ended up taking that off after a quote of $89. I still think 74 is a lot for a 6" cake. I did request two layers of mousse so maybe that is why? Just got the regular mousse though, no special fillings or anything and the decorations should be pretty basic.

Well Beach Club Private Dining called back this evening to confirm my order. The mini wedding cake would have been $60 with delivery and tip. The 6inch cake came to $54 something with fees and tip. I'm having it delivered the first day there so we can snack on it during the week either with coffee in the morning or some alcohol in the evenings. I'm excited to see the final result. I ordered a vanilla cake with fresh strawberry mousse filling with buttercream icing and fondant covering. I didn't think the cost was too bad considering. I will post pictures of course.

Shhh... Don't tell DH ;)

I am taking my 82 year old mother to Disney in early December to see the lights and decorations, staying at BC. Her birthday is during our visit, so I wanted to order a 2-tier mini cake to surprise her. I wanted to have it delivered to our room or during dinner at Narcoosees. I first called the BC to get a price on the mini cake I had in mind and was told the mini cakes are $40, and they asked me to email photos & instructions. I asked for almond flavor cake and she didn't know if they could do that, but would check. I got a call back last night with the quote. I had told them I wanted a 2-tier miniature wedding cake (almond or vanilla flavor cake with raspberry fruit mousse filling, with white buttercream icing, accented in Christmas red & green Mickey ears. Attached is a photo. I also asked them to add holly berries or a holly leaf in icing at the bottom of the cake on the plate to make it more Christmassy. The quote was $50 for the cake, plus tax and gratuity, for a grand total of $65.45. I didn't question the price because they called at an inconvenient time, but now I'm debating whether to spend that much for a mini cake. I guess I wasn't prepared for the extra charges, plus I thought the mini cakes were $35. Do you think I would get a better price having the cake delivered at Narcoosees and using the GF instead of using BC dining? What do you think about this price quote for a mini cake?

That sounds about right... I was quoted $55 for a mini cake that was all chocolate with fondant, 2d snow flakes, swiss dot Mickeys, and maybe edible glitter.

Sounds like the same experience I had with Amy for a surprise cake at BOG. It was easy & I feel confident in what I ordered. I can't wait!

Just ordered my son's cake for his birthday dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Left a message for Pat this morning and she called back this evening. This is our 4th cake we have ordered from her over the years and we have never had an issue and they have always turned out great. We are getting a 6 inch cute white yeti themed cake. I'll post pictures when we get back. :) Cross your fingers that our luck continues!!

I also sent an email to the Magic Kingdom cake department for a mini-cake for our reservation at BOG on the 26th. I haven't heard back from them yet with any details as to price. We are going with chocolate cake, chocolate mousse filling, and chocolate buttercream frosting. We went with the Minnie princess ears, but asked for red instead of pink. I'll let you know what I hear back.

What minnie princess ears are you thinking of? I tried that for a cake I have ordered for next month and was told they couldn't do them anymore.

WOW! I sent the Contemporary a photo of that exact cake last year, and Chef Donald said they weren't allowed to sculpt character faces due to copyright restrictions. I guess I shoulda gotten a second opinion from Chef Brian...
I had also wondered whether they would do a sculpted face or screen print, but Chef Brian assured me they could make the sculpted face! :-) In my experience, having spoken before with Chef Donald and Chef Brian, Chef Brian has been more willing to do more detailed cakes.

Do you have to be in the room when your cake is delivered, specifically at the Polynesian? Because my sister, who the cake is for, probably won't be. And anyone know if delivery/tip is included in the price quoted from the Grand Floridian. I forgot to ask these questions when I ordered the other day.

We're back from a amazing trip 10/30-11/12. I ordered my son a halloween cake delieverd to Pop on 10/30. The cake was in the room when we arrived. I liked the cake but I did not love it. I was hoping for more decorations. It tasted excellent tho. It was a chocolate cake filled with fresh strawberries. Cost was 62$.
I don't think I would order a cake again. We ate some cake the first night but after that when we got to the room we weren't hungry. We were on free dining and always got dessert with dinner and no one had a appetite from dessert. I ended up throwing more then half the cake away.

Just ordered a mini cake for our 10th anniversary at Narcooses. I got a two tier vanilla cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. I asked to have scroll work around the cake and Mickey and Minnie ears on top. The ears were $5 more each. It's supposed to have "10 years and we still do" written on it. Hope it turns out as good as it sounds to me. She said total was $45 and didn't need a credit card number??? She did ask for my name, time, and date if reservation and said it would be attached to our reservation. Does this sound typical??

Yes, I was told it we would pay for our cake with the meal.

When ordering to a restaurant, they added our cake to the bill (and we received our TIW discount.) When ordering to the room, they added our cake to our room charges. When I called to place our next order, the CM asked if it was OK to just add it - so maybe someone could pay in advance with a credit card if they prefer that method, but I'm not sure.

Also, huge credit to the phone CM at private dining last week - she was very clear about the delivery charge, tax and gratuity when I placed my order. I knew about that from this thread, but thought it was great that she was direct about it.

They charged me for my cake about 2 weeks before we arrived. I was very suprised because I expected it to be on my room charge instead.
