OFFICIAL December 2009!! Celebrating the Holidays.. ADR list page 41 :)

The parade is usually taped the first weekend of Dec, Fri thru Sun, mostly on Fri and Sat morning from about 7am until I have heard about 2pm, and Sun is just in case. I think they tape some little bit parts in the other parks as well. I don't think it affects much of the park, except Main Street and the Castle area in the MK.

That is some useful information :thumbsup2. We are going to the World in December (first time seeing the Christmas lights....so excited :cool1:). I had mentioned to my DH that the parade is usually taped during the first weekend of December. He said that he would really like to go to see it and if need be he would sit and wait for us while the girls and I go ride some rides. I really don't want to do that, especially with a 6 and 8 year old. His reasoning is, if the kids favorite Disney stars are at the parade, then they would want to see it. My stance is, they probably would not be able to see them anyways.

Oh well, on a side note, we too are going to MVMCP for the first time on December 3rd. I have read in other posts saying that MVMCP is very crowded and not worth the money. I am hoping since the first week of December is usually a down time to go, MVMCP won't be as crowded as the following week will be....but who knows with free dining :confused3

Woohoo for Tony's! Of course, now I'm worried I won't get my ADR!! :lmao:
I'll be wearing my lime green mickey head somewhere!

I believe you have to have special tickets to see the parade taping and it is alot of repeating segments over and over again until it is right, not just run smoothly like the regular parade. If you don't have a ticket you are routed behind the shops on Main Street into the rest of the park.

Suzanne

We were there last year at the time of the taping. To watch the taping you had to have a special ticket that was given out by the production company. Otherwise you had to be behind a roped off area on the sidewalk and there were CM's there to keep people moving, so you could not stop and watch. It was very regulated :sad1:. To keep the magic alive (at least in my own mind), we decided to get out of the area and watch it on TV!

But too late for us!!! I just saw a post on the main DIS page that they are moving back to 180 days for both park hours and ADRs beginning October 27.
I'm sure everyone going later in the winter will be happy.

That is awesome and does not surprise me. It is unforunate for us that they are not doing it NOW. But we only have about 30 days and most of us will have made our ADR. I wish they would put the hours out so I could plan better. I know I will be making my final ADR on 9/10 or there about. Lois

You and me both! I WISH they would at least give us park hours! It's killing me!!! Our ADR day is 9/7 - Labor Day!

Me too!! I hope that the hours come out before then! Does anyone know if they have been doing it on the first of the month?

November hours didn't come out until around Aug 4. :sad2: I need Nov and Dec. My ADR date is Aug 30, and since I'm not counting on December hours to be out then, I'm planning without them. Hope it works!

They begin at the first of the month and do one park at a time. They start with the calendar you can access at the indivual parks web page then last seen to do the Park hours you can access on the home page. I don't mind not making my ADR till 90 days out but really need the hours in order to make my plans which park I want to be in.

I avoid, at all cost, the EMH parks. That is extra time in the park but the EMH draw increased folks. It is the park that is chosen by those that do not have the park hopper and as such tends to be more crowed overall. I may however attempt to go to some of the late night EMH. The reviews I have seen for July showed them with very long lines. So we may not stay

On our last trip we did am EMH, but avoided pm EMH. I've also heard it recommended that you go to the park that had pm EMH the night before to avoid crowds. that seemed to work well for us too. We usually can't stay up late enough to benefit from the pm EMH anyway.

We usually go to DHS on EMH morning so DH can ride RnRC and ToT. We LOVE evening EMH, especially at MK. After the parade, the park can really clear out.

It looks like this is what I have done although it really wasn't part of the plan. I just don't know if I want to go in late or go in at nine and leave early adfternoon. For those who have gone in December before how are the afternoon crowds? The crowds at the EEMH? I know what to expect in September/October but have no clue what to expect in December.

Add me to the list for December 2009!!:santa:
We will be at the AllStarSports on Dec11th(my bday:yay:)-Dec16th!
Got free dining, but opted for the QS DDP. We'll see how it works out.

That's my birthday too!! We're going to the Cali Grille to celebrate. Happy birthday to us!! :)

I just booked!! :cool1:

Carribean beach - 6 nights from Dec 7 - Dec 13

I'm waiting on the hours to come out to decide on MVMCP for sure. Want to see what the schedule will be like!

During the taping of the Christmas parade can you access the shops on Main street?
