OFFICIAL D23 Membership available for all Disney fans--Will you join too? UPDATE

We just ordered my D23 membership. It is a gift from my DH for helping type a project he has for school since I type way faster than he does.

Welcome to all of our newest D23 members!

The mail on Saturday brought in my D23 kit in a white cardboard sleeve: the square D23 magazine, my personalized certificate of membership (beautiful!), and a little white D23 decal to put on my car. I handled each piece as if it was priceless.

As a Day 1 member of D23, this wait was worth it. I took lots of pictures of all of the excitement. I know that I will look back on opening the Charter kit as a fond memory....

I cried out in delight at a few of the articles; the D23 magazine has gorgeous pictures and is very informative (e.g., the Disney Archives piece, the Pixar piece, etc.). I love that it described a bit about Walt Disney's story, even though most of us are VERY familiar with it... It's such a loving, heart-warming touch to include it in the first issue, you know?

Overall, my feeling is that the D23 magazine is the perfect publication for Disney fans. What a huge step up from Issue 1 of Disney Adventures magazine.

My fiance agreed that copies of this magazine are worth collecting/saving.

DISboards was down when I received my kit, so I am glad to find this thread (in the Community Boards) to update you. I'm pleased that so many of you received your kits too! Isn't it exciting?

The personalized D23 membership card also arrived in the mail yesterday (Monday), two days after the kit. The Mickey bandleader image for D23 is adorable! Many of you received your cards before your kits, but I am glad to have it now. The card's materials stated that I would receive more details about logging into D23 in a separate mailing.


I will update the OP (Post #1) with the DISnames of the most recent D23 members.

Can't wait to see our special gift! I will take pictures of us unwrapping that when it arrives too. I love these Disney surprises.

Three cheers for D23!

I just purchased my D23 membership. I am so excited! To be honest, I am even a little teary-eyed from the emotion of being a "Charter Member" of this club.

The total cost of membership on DisneyShopping.go.com with sales tax was $82. Among the benefits, this price includes an official membership certificate, membership card, discounts to the Disney Expo (think, Disney Comic-Con) as well as a 1-year subscription to the quarterly magazine that "provides a stunning, inside look at the world of Disney worlds."


UPDATE on 3/16:
A week has passed since we learned the official answer to "Are you 23?" from Disney. I just read through the posts, and I respect everyone's decision about whether or not D23 is right for you at this time. The economy around the world could certainly stand to be better before some of us will decide to pay for a new membership; some of us aren't even paying to eat out at restaurants or to opt for our cable bills anymore. I understand. Of course, we will always have the DIS.

With that said, D23 is here, and I did collect the DIS names of our D23 members from this thread. The following is an incomplete list of DISboard members who have decided to join D23 this year:

My membership kit shipped yesterday and I got my membership card in the mail too

I've seen pics of the Mickey Mouse lithograph rumored to be the free gift from the Disney Archives and I think its nice. I wasn't expecting anything big and expensive.

I'm hoping more exclusives are added to the membership (and I think in time they will be), but overall I'm very happy to be apart of it

I read the PP from crazy4wdw about the lithograph, and I am curious if that is the gift. I haven't seen an image of it, but I think I want to be surprised. We have other Disney lithographs; my favorite set being the "100 Mickeys" collection by Eric Robison... I love swapping them out from the frames to change-up Mickey's look every few weeks. This gift could be a nice addition to that collection.

So, for the lurkers... Are you 23?

I am sitting here as we are having a big Blizzard here right now, in Rapid City, SD And everything is closed, so that means no mail to get my membership kit. I did get my membership card a couple of days ago though and I love it( I jumped up and down when I got it)!!!!

I have always loved Disney, so I am very, very happy to be a part of D23!!!!

I really want to join...
BUT my concern is that it is only a yearly subscription.
It means dishing out money EVERY year for this...

And the other thing is that it can't be a Family Membership.

Kind of silly if you ask me... We don't need two identical magazines...

They should have secondary accounts were you don't get the magazine again but other family members can still join for a reduced price.

My Disney Brain will still probably win out over my Budget Brain...
And I probably will still join...

I came home to my free gift sitting on the kitchen counter....It is a lithograph of Mickey painted by Felix. It is a good size lithograph. 2'x3'

How come I didn't make it on the list? I joined on the 10th as gift from my DW! Now I am just waiting for my account to become active. The email said it takes 24-48 hours before I can log in and buy D23 products!

Don't worry, you are still included on the main list on Post #1. I copied and pasted a part of the list from a textpad and it deleted your name for about five minutes. I fixed it soon after, but the previous poster who referenced the list above got a copy of the list without your name in that downtime.

How exciting that you received the D23 gift...
2'x3' is a substantial size! I look forward to seeing the Mickey image.

Glad that you liked it! I re-created the original logo they are using in Adobe Illustrator. It isn't anything that Disney put out there, just a "knock off."

I got everything in the mail yesterday!

The magazine is fantastic. Worth every single penny. What an amazing publication!!

I also got my gift, but instead of a litho, it was a full sized poster. It's printed on heavy, nice quality paper. I'm going to have to get a frame for it and find a place on the wall!

I believe the poster is the lithograph. I got mine in the mail yesterday as well. I Love it!!! I'm going to go get a frame for it tonight.
