They do not ask for the ap or number on the phone. You must have it at check in thou. You can buy it over phone, online, or at the disney store if you wanted to have before getting to orlando. Once there you can get it at downtown disney, airport disney store, any park, I do not think you can get at your resort (but we haven't tried), I know I had to "activate" it at a park , TTC, or DTD.

Every now and then people report not being asked for ap at check in. This has went both ways for us. But I would not try it without the pass or vouchure to be activated, you could lose your rate.

Does anyone know the answer to this question? If you are checking into one of the Epcot resorts and the cm at the resort asks you for your activated AP number, can you activate the AP at the International Gateway at Epcot (since there is no bus to take you to the front entrance of Epcot)? Or would you have to take a bus/boat to MGM to activate it, since they won't let you pass the International Gateway at Epcot without a paid ticket? Thanks, tink

Guest Services at the International Gateway can do everything the other ticket areas do including sell you a ticket and activate your AP.

I think people call because sometimes Disney doesn't update their web page with the discount until later. This last time everyone was getting their discounts the day before the web page was updated. I'm new to the whole AP rates and discounts thing so I could very well be wrong.

Oftentimes, you have to call within the first hour of a code being released to get an AP rate at certain resorts. Remember, there are only a set number of rooms available at that rate. Some resorts will only have a few (or no) rooms available at AP rates. 2 years ago, we were able to get a fantastic rate at AKL for our May trip -- 1 1/2 days before the AP rates were "officially" posted. I know that the AP rate rooms of all levels at AKL were gone within an hour because a co-worker also tried to book. Now, some of these probably came available as people cancelled closer to our arrival date; but this was a special 10 day trip for the kids (2 of whom had never been to WDW) and we really, really wanted to stay savannah view at AKL.

I called this morning. No AP rates out yet.

So I caved and booked AAA today since I was so nervous about getting an AP discount. So.. the CM told me they were releasing a new AP rate but it was not out today. I asked her if it would be out soon and she said she was not sure but that there would be an AP rate out for early August. She said I could apply the rate to my AAA ressie WHEN it came out. Good to hear but I knwo sometimes CMs are wrong. Regardless I got my room with a little discount so thats good at least.

We are looking for a discount for Aug 10-18th. I have AAA unfortunately we won't be able to stay at the Coronada Springs since it is now booked! I was told not to book until the rates came out since they charge you to add discounts. Now I heard that is not true
