I'm freaking out! What code? Is it public? Is it for early August? Somebody say something quick!

No its not public and I'm reading that they are no longer working. Keep coming back trust me, there will be more!!!

I tried to get it last night and it did work, but when I called back today to alter the ressie they would not honor it. I just tried again and now their system is down apparantly. I wonder if they are adjusting the system due to this "code outbreak"

I wish people would NOT 'snitch' on the disboards. When I was asked where I got it from, I said 'a friend'. No need to put disboards in this. That's why the codes can NOT be shared publicly. And any one of us who got the codes would have been willing to give it to anyone. Besides, I see all you friendly dis members my 'cyber friends'.

Actually Dis has never advocated the code or any other private ones so the people that said that they got it from here probably should have remembered that. The only time I have actually seen the code on this site was 2 days ago and it was for a VERY brief time period. At that point in time many people including myself thought it was a public code.
I am pretty sure that most of the people that have gotten the code in the past 24 hours it was because they pmed someone asking for it or they were pmed with the code by someone who was nice enough to share it with them. Because I have not seen the code here in that time period so the mods are definately doing thier job. I agree that I got it from a "friend" should have been a valid explanation for anyone to give if they felt they needed to give one at all.

When I called I said a friend had used the number and I hoped that I could too. I had no problem. I spoke to a CM today who did confirm that the code was not longer valid. It was a valid Disney code and those of us fortunate enough to use it will get the discounts, no problem there. I just wish that all of us could have used it.

I have no idea what code you guys are referring to, but I had a pin code package booked at Pop that I just switched to AKL. All this talk about not being able to use codes made me nervous so I changed now! Even though I had a legitimate pin code, I didn't want to chance it! I saved $243.90 over the regular package price. It's still too pricey for me but why not? A deal is a deal!

Was the code posted in this thread? I subscribed to this thread over a month ago, check it frequently but just received notification today that there were additional messages. I have a AAA discount, but would love to get a greater discount. Maybe next time, but so disappointed.

There was a code and if you were lucky enough to get it and call in time, you would come out ahead. I called this a.m. and was told that all the rooms for this code were gone. Maybe something else will come out soon.

For the Record:

We here on the DIS (the DIS boards proper) did NOT advocate it. Some users advocated it, as you will see in these threads. Moderators actively deleted posts containing the code we knew to be a private code that was not for the general public. We deleted these posts as quickly and responsibly as we could.

There was in fact some upset over the post being deleted. But we don't just do random stuff. We found out the code was not general public and then deleted the posts.

For those who are wondering : A private code used to book the 1 in 200 calls.. random upsells the computer generates at Disney Reservations Center, was leaked. And someone posted it on these boards.

We deleted it as quickly as we found it -- but the genie was in part - out of the bottle and a number people booked it. Disney quickly realized that bookings with this code were WAY beyond 1 in 200.. and shut it off.

Despite what many people said or thought they knew, this was not ever a public code. We researched it quickly and found the truth of what the code was for and that was our impetus to delete the posts. We take these things very seriously and we respect Disney's rules on codes.

I don't want to panic anyone .. but Disney may review the reservations booked with that code and contact those who hold reservations with that code. They may not. They may let these rogue reservations stand. I'm not sure what they plan to do exactly.

General public discount codes will ALWAYS be promptly posted for ALL to see here on the DIS on this webpage right here ....

This is a GOOD time to remind EVERYONE of the code posting guidelines for ALL boards on the DIS below. These rules exist for EXACTLY the reasons that we can all see before us today. If you have ANY questions about posting a code, please contact a moderator before doing so. We can research it and determine if it is a valid, general public code that is fair to post.

9. DISCOUNT CODES: As mentioned above, the DIS is all about planning a Disney vacation. On occasion, Disney does release discounts which usually can be obtained via a code. This information will be available in our Discounts section. However, Disney also sends mailings to specific individuals/target groups which contain a discount that can only be obtained with a PIN (personal identification number.) If you receive one of these offers, please do not share your PIN/Code on the DIS for others to use. We respect the fact that these offers are not for the general public and will remove any posts that include this information. Understand that this action is for your protection. For example, say you use Mrs. Smith's code. When you check in and are asked to produce proof that you are Mrs. Smith and cannot do so, you will be charged the full rate.

Thanks! I was wondering what happened! Unfortunately, if things like this happen, Disney may not issue discount codes!

I would encourage people to ask the CM when they call if there is a discount attached to their email address. I was lucky that the CM mentioned it to me so I was able to book a discounted package. It never hurts to ask!
