Official Car rental September 2013...advice please

I'm getting some numbers that I don't really understand.

Okay, so I have a car booked with the Amex Blue offer for $283. If I log-in to the site now, with no codes, the car is $330, with the alamo insider +10% it's $309, but the Amex offer NOW is $383. $100 more than what it originally was. I'm wondering how that could be? The Amex offer is supposed to be 25% off plus a free single upgrade...so how does the alamo offer of 10% off with a free single upgrade beat that? It makes no sense.

Also, I've just realized that when I booked the car originally, I was not logged in as an insider, but I AM an insider. Is there any way to fix that? If I modify the res now it shoots the rate up.

Amex offers discounts of up to 25%. Also, different codes present different rates. Insiders always gives you a straight 10% off.
Yes, you can have your Insider information added to your reservation by calling Alamo customer service.

Has anyone successfully used the Visa Discount with Alamo:

I cannot get it to work online and think I'll try calling later on. Looks like a great deal but I cannot get it to work. Says the coupon code is incorrect.

I just tried and it said capacity check.

I used Alamo Insider deals (10% off and free upgrade) and Southwest code 7016105 and got a standard (full-size) for $157 for 9/21 - 9/28. Not sure if that helps at all.

How do you get Alamo insider status?

I'm an insider and I cant seem to get the free upgrade. Would you be able to quickly check my dates? For a standard, I get $176 for 9/7-9/14 (10am Pick up; return 530pm.

It's free to sign up on Alamo's website. See what I did below.

Sign into your Alamo Account.
Click Deals.
On the left, fill in the airport, dates, etc. Search deals.
Click Details for free single upgrade
A coupon code will populate.
I put in Southwest code 7016105 for the Contract ID.

When I put in your dates and times, I got a Midsize for $169.86. Free upgrade to Standard.

There is a new deal out there. Haven't priced that one yet. Not sure if it's a better deal or not.

Hope that helps. I'm not the expert, but that is what I did.

Thank you for all your assistance. Please post the other deal if it ends up being cheaper.

Checked Dollar today to see if I could improve on my 7-12 September reservation. Not today; the price about tripled.:scared1:

Lol!!, same here!!!
I had to go back and input it again, because I thought I must have made a mistake.
Nope, no mistake! It really was $850 and up for a 9 day rental!!! :rotfl2:
Really Dollar?!?!

Anyone have any experience with E Z Car Rental in Orlando? Right now they have an all inclusive rate $227 for 14 days for a Mid Size car. They say they are in terminal too.

No experience yet, but I've booked them for our late Sept trip. I've ready some mixed reviews, but most were good. The one thing I did find is that they are located at the airport, but in a far away part so plan on doing a lot of walking to get to them.

Searched on the internet for pictures of the MC0 desk for EZ Car Rental.

Looks like any other car rental place at the airport, checking out the car looks to be the same too.

Not sure how they could locate the desk any other place but besides the other agencies.

Looks like they could be partners with L&M Car rentals

I just checked them out and I can save $50 with them on a month rental in October. Reading the reviews I don't think I will though. They seem to have a reputation of charging people for small dings that may or may not exist. Also some complaints of mechanical difficulties. Not worth the hassle. I'll stick with my Dollar reservation.

I'm thinking the same thing. My price difference is only $26 total so I will likely stick with Dollar since I've had good experience with them and more trust. The check-in process alone may be worth this amount.

has anyone used priceline recently? I have in the past used them for renting a minivan and have gotten it for 20 per day. We always go during September. I tried this am but the prices that they and hot-wire are showing are way above that. I need a vehicle big enough for 3 adults, 2 kids and lots of luggage.

That is how many we have too, and are going with a full sized car. Its a lot cheaper, and I think it will be fine with the trunk space.

If you can't find a price you like, you could go with a car. We have 3 adults (1 is mall) and DS17 and DS12. We rent a full size when prices are high or money is tight. Yes, a minivan is great, but an Impala has a LARGE trunk. It works for us and what we have reserved for our upcoming trip.
