I love the HM cake I am just not a huge cake fan and either is DH. We are going in Oct for our Aniv and then in Jan for a late birthday and cruise. I like Minnie Mouse and Manatees. The mickey cake looks too big for 2 people any ideas? I did see a cup cake cake at Publix that is really cute.

I believe all the white chocolate statues are only available at the GF.

I believe most deluxe resorts have access to some of the chocolate statues. I would call the CR (in room dining) and ask what they have. I know for sure they have the chocolate monorial. I know that I was able to get the choc mickey statue at the Boardwalk and at the GF (and I know of someone else who got one at the BC) so I can't see why the CR wouldn't have it was well.

I'm getting the Tink one with chocolate strawberries added in at The Wave. Since both are at the Contemporary I would think so. They said that there is a lday that sits and hand paints the statues. How cool is that?! I do know the Tink one wouldn't fit on the 6in cake. I had to up it to the 8 in.

Edited to add that it took a lot of calls and asking but I was able to get the strawberry bavarian cream cake also. Oh I can't wait. My dd will be thrilled.

So after my HORRIBLE experience a few days ago with the GF bakery...well I should say the girl that answered the phone...I decided to call back today. So I ordered an 8inch chocolate cake with dark chocolate filling and blue icing with a Cinderella theme. I could have talked to Pat to give more details but I figured I will trust them and see what I get! I talked to Samantha today and she said that the cake decorators will just run with the theme.

Now I'm thinking I may need to order a special cake from Brian at Chef Mickey's! The first cake is for my best friend's daughter's 6th bday but I think I may just be forced into getting my bff one as well. It's not her bday or anything just a celebration of being at Disney! Sound like a good reason for another cake?? I just need a theme. Any ideas? She loves Mickey but I am wanting a friend-themed cake....again any ideas???

Hi all, First cake post here. Started to read the thread as a lark... I am now hooked and am going to order a cake for my 9 day trip in November. This is just a girls week-out trip although it's also my b-day so what the heck!!

Will they make something that is an angel food cake with custard and strawberries in a layer or two covered in whipped cream???? Years ago my mom used to do this and boy was it good. I understand from the first page that I would need to call the central phone line with my order.

Next question.. would you do that for the dinner at Boma's or Citricos? I guess what I'm asking is where the best cake would likely come from. And which would be more fun???
As an alternative, the yellow cake with custard and strawberries with buttercream and Piglet on top would also do nicely. ( Yeah... I'm not picky!!! I'm just hooked. )

I just completed an order through Wilderness Lodge Private Dining for a Star Wars themed cake for delivery to our Villa on November 17, 2009. I called Private Dining, and they took my number. The bakery director, Chef Eddie Lancier, promptly called me back. He then stated that he would work with the Contemporary Pastry Chefs to see what they could do.

Here's the solution the Chefs came up with:

10" Marble cake with chocolate mousse and fresh strawberry filling with Buttercream frosting (chocolate). Cake will state "Happy Birthday Britt." A printed edible image of Jedi Mickey (Mickey as Luke with lightsaber) with Yoda and R2D2 will be applied to a white chocolate backing. The image will stand upright on the cake and will have appropriate decorations. Including surprise delivery to the room while we are away at the parks, the price will be $90.00.

This was all accomplished in 48 hours. Here's how we completed this order so easily: I was specific about what I asked for (had a list in front of me), obtained an email address for the chefs with whom I am working, and very polite. So far, my experience with the Chefs has been magical! I sent the chefs a photo of what I wanted, and they came as close as possible to achieving that. My guess is that you will have no trouble with your wish, since Disney is so great at edible images.

As an aside, prices have REALLY gone up. in 2005, we ordered a 10" wedding cake with an 8" 2nd tier - not a lot of decor - but it was $60.00 at Cape May Cafe. But, it was DELICIOUS, as I'm sure this one will be.

I see that another member posted a link to the Yoda/Mickey cake on the Photo-Thread in response to the "Star Wars Cake" question. I wanted to provide a little information:

Not every resort will be able to recreate the adorable Mickey/Yoda cake on the boards. This was precisely the cake I asked for at Wilderness Lodge. Though they couldn't recreate this one, they came up with a great solution.

Here's what the Pastry Chefs shared with me: Each resort has its own chocolate molds and they DO NOT share, and they often will not delivery to resorts with whom they do not partner. Call private dining at the resort where you are staying to ask. Also, if your heart is set on that EXACT cake, call the resort where it was created, and ask them if they will deliver it to your table for lunch/dinner. Obviously, this will require you to make ADR at the appropriate resort restaurants.

We are staying at CSR and I was just wondering who or where should I go to have something delivered to the room (our last night). I was thinking of the Mickey Mouse Head but it's just 3 of us. Would it be easier to just pick one up at BW? I know this has probably been answered before but reading all the posts I think I have confused myself. Thanks
