I don't know much about the cakes, but I can say that the one we are getting for my son's birthday is 8" because the Pluto they are putting on it wouldn't fit on a smaller cake. With the Pluto added, I'm paying $47.00 for the cake. It will be vanilla with vanilla buttercream because Sean won't touch chocolate, at all. I think without the Pluto it was going to be about $35.00 or so? But we had to do Pluto. He's a Pluto nut!

Unfortunately, the cake selection at in-park restaurants is very small - usually only a vanilla or chocolate buttercream-frosted cake of 6, 8, or 10 inches. Sometimes you can get the big Mickey head cake, which feeds up to 12 people.

If you want a Mickey's Delight, you'll need to eat at the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Yacht & Beach or BoardWalk Inn. The smallest one I've seen is a 6-inch, which feeds way more than one person. However, you might be able to talk them into a mini-cake with the Mickey's Delight pattern.

I'd call ASAP though, cuz sometimes it takes a while to track down the person you need to talk to.

:thumbsup2

Thanks, You're the best! We're having dinner at Garden Grill so I guess I'll call the cake hotline tomorrow and get some prices. Then leave my notes for DFi to discover, and let him decide. Maybe I'll also leave this as a note. He can walk over to the Boardwalk and pick it up. I'll just stay and meet the characters. :rotfl2:

Thanks again!

Ok i just ordered my DD's birthday cake from the GF bakery. Pat called me back the same day and was very helpful. I ordered a 6" yellow cake, with pink filling and icing, she is going to do a chocolate crown and wand on top (if possible) she is also adding flowers and stars. She said it would be very colorful. The price is $51 plus tax etc, does that sound right?

Thanks CAKEMANBRI for telling me that it is ganache that I want to order for the frosting on the cake. I had no idea what it was called. All I knew was it was this dreamy chocolate tasting frosting like nothing I had ever tasted. It blew my wedding cake away lol

Now I wonder is there anyone out there who have had this ganache on a cake but have still managed to get a really pretty decorated cake? I ask this because the ganache itself is a white chocolate and milk chocolate marbled look so there really isnt any way of adding color to the actual icing itself.

I am hoping for something for our anniversary. We love Mickey and Minnie so something really lovey dovey. Actually any of the princesses like Belle and the Beast or Cinderella and the prince would be fine but I am not sure how you could really dress it up with those cute little extras like what was on the haunted cake.

If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. It would be great to give some suggestions when I call.

Brian, that's awesome! Did you take a photo of the wallpaper and put it on the edible photo stuff?

I have a feeling I know where I'm going for my parent's 25th anniversary cake next year.

I'm going for my birthday next week. I'm thinking of surprising my fiance with my birthday cake.

I hope the OP of this post has a good sense of humor.....because I have to say that I got so tickled reading this....lol

Its like "Surprise honey! Here's MY birthday cake"...lol. Like....its your birthday and you can't surprise yourself so you must surprise SOMEONE, even though its not their birthday.

Im laughing so hard at this because it reminds me of something I'd do as well...lol.

OP, I sincerely apologize if my humor in that offends you. I intend no ill-will....honest.

I was talking to CAKEMANBRI. I believe that is Brian that did the cake. He has posted on this thread. I have called The Wave and it is all set but I would love to chat with him specifically. Maybe I should have done it via PM. Sorry.

Oh geesh... my apologies! You are right... I thought you were talking to the OP of the cake! How cool to have one of the infamous cake designers here on the disboards!

Has anyone ordered a celebration cake from Disney Bakery and had it delivered to a meal? I called last night to get information and the girl on the line was SO vague and didn't seem to know much. She stated that for $15 we could get a screen print or character statue but for $30 we could get a themed cake. I asked what the difference was and she said that the themed cake was at the discretion of the bakery. :confused3 I wanted more information but she couldn't answer ANYTHING!

I then mentioned the picture I was looking at and she snapped "we don't have a website"....I said well it's the walt disney world website. She said "I don't know what you are talking about" Now it's fine that she didn't know the exact picture that I was referring to but shouldn't she be able to answer my questions better??? I mean I'm talking about spending $30-$45 for a cake for 3 people! She even tried to talk me out of ordering the special celebration and just going with the "stock" cake that I can get from the hostess. I was shocked. :scared1:

So please anyone that has ordered a cake please please help!!!

I'm doing the same thing myself!...Surprising my DH and 3 DSs with MY Birthday cake at Narcoossees in one month!:rotfl:

When we go in December we will be there for the actual day of my birthday (has never worked out that way) and I've been dropping hints like crazy and have been showing him this thread on an almost daily basis. Unless I say "I want that cake at during this meal" he won't order it. Well actually... even if I do say that he'd probably just say "Order what you want". :headache:

Just need to figure out where I want the cake and what I want. Do I want to go all girly and do something Tinkerbell related or do I want to do something we all love like Star Wars. Oooohhhh... wonder if I could get a Muppets themed cake with Animal on it or something with Goofy (two of my life-long loves, lol). So many choices......

Unless cake decorating is on par with the nefarious antics of Captain Hook pirate:, I think you mean famous cake designers!

Who knows, Brian could moonlight as a pirate......or a Haunted Mansion character :lmao:

Does anyone know if you can get the White chocolate statues (Mickey, tink, donald) & tuxedo strawberries at Cali grill? or is it just available at the GF?

:)

I just ordered a cake from the GF. I am a little nervous because she didn't ask for a credit card number and I didn't get any sort of confirmation number. All they took was my name and the time of my ADR. Is this normal? Should I be worried that I won't get my cake? Would it be good for me to call back before we arrive to check on this?

LOL -- I kept reading this thread to my dh and showing him photos 'til he finally realized he should order a cake for my 40th next month. ;)

He's ordered one from the GF (we'll be eating at GF Cafe for lunch that day) and he tried to get an Eeyore cake (Eeyore is my all-time favorite), but was told that they can't do any of the Pooh characters because Disney doesn't own the licensing. :confused3 So he's having sort of a Mad Hatter type cake done with an open spot on the top and we're bringing a really nice porcelain Eeyore figurine we bought on our first trip in '98 to put on top of it. :) We'll be taking the cake back to our villa to have with family later, so we can add the figurine then.

You might want to check. I know when I formally placed my order, they did take my credit card number. The card, however, was not billed until the day we received it. They also took our ADR as well.

That's all Pat asked from me and then told me I'd be charged at the restaurant for the cake. Well that would defeat the purpose of a "surprise" cake. If DH knew how much it cost, he'd have a fit. I let her know the second time I called that I'd really like to have it prepaid and she didn't have a problem with that at all. I didn't get a confirmation # though.

That's great to know, thank you! I didn't realize I could prepay (like you, it would be best if DH is NOT in the know on the price ;))
