now I want someone to report back how the new Sara Lee cakes are!!

Me too! You know, if nobody has by the time we leave for our Sept. trip, I'll take one for the team and order a Sara Lee cake while we're at WDW just so I can tell you guys what it tastes like... :rotfl:

That is basically the cake I had ordered for our 25th at 1900 Park Faire but they were doing M/M with touches of silver http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1173219&page=125

I debated and debated and my rational side won over. Just cannot justify $70 for a cake that we won't even finish, will probably be too full to appreciate at all, etc etc etc......*sigh* :sad2:

It is a 6 inch cake

ohhh only 6in's! I just might order this one. One more question, if you don't mind. The mini wedding cake (2 teirs) is only availible at the Boardwalk bakery or can I get it at the GF too?

Thanks

So does anyone on here have a pic of the anniversary cake that is topped with Mikey and Minnie, covered in fondant, and has little mickey heads stamped all around it?

I'd like to see it!

Apparently it's similar to what I ordered my husband for our Anniversary.
:thanks:

I know its not exactly what you are looking for but I love this cake. It is the anniversary cake i got for my DW for our 11th wedding anniversary while dining at 1900 Park Fare. White choc. Mickey/Minnie topper w/gold accents, white choc. rose, white choc. pieces layered at the bottom of the cake, choc. scroll and white choc./choc swirled fondant. Inside was white cake w/ white chcoc. mousse. To die for. Cost was $45 in May.

I do not know if this needs updating, but I just got off of the cake hotline and the 6 inch cakes are now $21.00!. I could not get through, not open on the weekend, so will call Monday. I am getting the glass slipper at CRT. I wonder how much it will cost???:confused3

Sorry for the double post, but befor I call can I get anything better than the 6 inch cake for the Coral Reefe or Chef Mickey, that will not break the budget:scared1: , geesh. Just want something like the glass slipper, for my DD's so they will feel special and something cheaper, so we will have the money to tip our server. Yikes, these prices are killing me, I can barely afford the tip!!!
So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, at this point I am tempted to ask the WEGO people to deliver the cakes from off site! and just give it to the hostess when we arrive!

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Slipper dessert at CRT is still $12.50.:goodvibes

For the slipper dessert, do you have to order that in advance or just when you are checking in for dinner at CRT?

This seems to be the place to ask a cake question!!

We'll be at Whispering Canyon for my Dad's 60th birthday, can you recommend a cake for him??

There will be 20 people at the dinner, and I imagine if I get a cake big enough for the entire group it will cost as much as a night at the GF. :rotfl:

Any suggestions for either a cake just for him, or a cake for the group? We are staying off-site, if that makes a difference. I'm not sure if we can order a cake since we'll be off-site.

thanks!

We are staying at WL for our anniversary and I have found that Whispering Canyon and Artist Point don't have much to offer for these types of events. Honestly, I would have one of the local bakeries make a cake for you and go pick it up or have it delivered. If you want a "Disney" cake, I would even recommend ordering from Boardwalk Bakery and seeing if they will deliver or if you have to pick up from them.

Happy Birthday to your Dad!!!

I ordered last week but they need at least 48 hrs. Call the cake hotline it's on the first page of this post. I beleive MK is the first option after they tell you about their celebration cakes. Just connect to CRT and tell them you what you want to order. It's really easy.:goodvibes

We're going down in March for my birthday and our anniversary. The plan is Crystal Palace for dinner on my birthday. Can you get something special there or just the 6 inch plain cake?

Also, we're having a special anniversary dinner (leaving ds with the inlaws..woohoo) at California Grill. Does anyone know if they do anything special for birthdays/anniversaries like some kind of special dessert?

Thanks.

The slipper's only available at CRT or 1900 Park Fair I believe so that won't help you at Chef Mickey's or Coral Reef. Maybe if you just call ahead to the Coral Reef and order a "special" dessert (I think the one everyone raves about is called The Wave at Coral Reef) as opposed to a cake. The custom cakes are going to be a bit more unfortunetly. Also, maybe contact the Boardwalk Bakery to see about cupcakes??? I think I've read here that people have seen cupcakes there. If they won't let you order them, see if they have them in the case and you can stop by and pick one up before dinner. Try hitting like the Main Street Bakery and picking up a special treat.

If you really can't do anything for dinner, give her a card at dinner with a little certificate to pick any one snack in the "World". :goodvibes

Hopefully there's an idea there somewhere for you! If you're celebrating something, put it on your ADRs- - sometimes the restraunts will have a little pixie dust of their own for you as well. I've read that Chef Mickey's does cupcakes on occasion.

How fun!! Yeah, I don't know about finding a cake for that many people that won't break the bank at Disney, but you can always call and see what the options are. Try the restraunt you're dining at as well as the Boardwalk Bakery.

If you're able to do the "off site" option, try a Publix-their cakes are very good and very "allergy friendly" as that's about the only place I can get my son a cake who's got a peanut allergy. If you can, try and call in advance so they'll make your cake instead of getting a plainer one that's already made. They do Disney themes (DS4 had Cars on his cake from there)-just be as specific as possible about what you'd like. If I recall, they're not crazy expensive either-I think his was about $35 or 40 for about 25 people.

I'd be sure to note it on the ADR for both celebrations. I think you could order anything you'd like from the Boardwalk Bakery or Main Street Bakery and take it in there if CP itself didn't have great options in regards to custom cakes.

As for the CG, I'm not sure on that one. I would think that they do, but again, I'd put it on your ADR so they're aware of it.

This is what we ordered for my FIL last October -
Picture072.jpg

It was an 8" or 10" marble cake that four adults and two children were eating. We barely put a dent in it and were able to eat on it for a few days but I don't think it would be big enough for 20 people. If you are staying off-site I'd definately look into having a Publix cake. They do really great cakes and you can go to their website you can see all of their available decorated cakes and I believe you can order online or at least print out an order form.

My son requested Coral Reef for his birthday dinner, but since they took the crab legs off the menu, I don't think he'll want to eat there anymore. I was going to get him a cake there. His next choice, Cape May Buffet. Has anyone ever ordered a cake there? What would my options be? :confused3

This is what the server brought after our dinner at the California Grill on my birthday. I don't remember if my birthday was noted on our reservation or whether DH had said anything about it, but somehow the server knew. It was VERY rich and chocolatey. We had ordered other desserts so we boxed this up and took it back to the room with us.

Now, I wouldn't count on getting this!! If you really want something special, make arrangements for it. We've celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries at Disney and often they do nothing at all, even when we're wearing the birthday/anniversary buttons.

We are going down to Disney from Aug. 24 to Aug. 31st. My youngest son's birthday is Sept. 2nd and my daughter is Sept. 13th. We want to celebrate their birthday's while there. We want to order a surprise cake for the 2 of them at Liberty Tree Tavern. If I am right the cake will come from the MK Main Street Bakery. Now, it seems to me from reading on here that I can't order the cake until 2 weeks before or is it less? I just don't know when I need to order this, so that it will show up at our ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. If anyone has any answers, it would be greatly appreciated.
:thumbsup2
