Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

My DS has requested that we have dinner at Trails End the day of his birthday. If I decide to order a cake for him that day are we limited to just the generic cakes or would we have more options?

We are doing 1900 Park Fare the next day for dinner so I'm almost wondering if it would make more sense to do his cake then rather than have something less than amazing at Trails End.

Suggestions?

I would call Trails End and ask...try the hpone list at the beginning of the old cake thread. If they can't do a custom cake then 1900 PF can, it is not easy to get GF to make a special cake, but they can do it, just be nice but insistant about what you want. I think maybe they bakery at GF is a bit overwhelmed with cake orders, and they are trying to discourage the custom orders for less than the most grand cakes.

Best of luck and happy birthday ot your son :)

Wow! That castle cake was beautiful. I am going to order just the small castle cake when we go. I think yours might be just a little too big lol

They did such a great job. I am hoping everything goes so smoothly with my little surprises I am planning for my husband.

Thanks so much for the pics they are great.

So can I ask a question as I am a little confused :confused3

I know that the price of the non special order cakes are goign up and have changed to I think Sara Lee but how about the other items.

What I mean is for instance the castle cake that people order. Not ones with extra layers but just the little castle cake that I think was like $25 or so? Also is the price of say the tuxedo strawberries gone up as well?

I am planning on booking these things but am still a good six weeks out so it is too early to do and am wondering what the price will be when I can book them.

Thanks for the info

Does anyone know the number to call for the tuxedo strawberrys? I wanted to arrange them for our Illuminations Cruise in September.

Also, does anyone have pictures or know about how much they cost? :thanks:

Where do I order a cake from if we are staying at the CBR ? Do they make b-day cakes. And if anyone has a photo that would be great.
Thanks

Can't help you with the strawberries, but I recently ordered the mini castle cake and slipper dessert (for CRT). No changes. Castle cake still $25 and slipper dessert still $12.50.:goodvibes

The Cake Hotline listed on the first page of this thread handles all cake and special dessert requests for every WDW location. If you're interested in any kind of sweet treat, the best thing to do is call and ask!

Call the Cake Hotline and follow the prompts to select your resort (select Yacht & Beach Club for an IllumiNations Cruise). When you get a live person you can ask about your cake options as well as options for other desserts. I know the Yacht Club also does truffles and other chocolates - I bet chocolate-covered strawberries are on the list too! :goodvibes

We just got back and I had ordered two special birthday cakes.

A mickey head cake at LTT for my mom's 80th birthday, and a chocolate cake with "polynesian flowers" for dd's 11th birthday.

I was so disappointed at LTT. I had mentioned the cake when we checked in and they said yes they had the order. Imagine my surprise when they brought the cake out and it was just a chocolate frozen Sara Lee cake. I talked to the server and he said I would only be charged for the $21.00 cake - that wasn't the point! The cake was basically tasteless. We've ordered the mickey head cake before and really liked it. Luckily my Mom was just fine with the cake, it was me who was disappointed.

Better luck at Ohana for dd's birthday. The cake was chocolate with chocolate icing (dd is just like her mom - chocolate, chocolate, chocolate). It had a plastic orchid on it. The cake was delicious.

Still the best birthday cake we have ever ordered was last January for other dd's 9th birthday. It was at the GF, 1900 Park Fare. It was a vanilla cake with vanilla icing and strawberry custard filling. Next time I order a birthday cake I'm going back to the GF!

I just called the cake hotline last week and pushed the options to the Narcoossee's. I ordered the "mini castle cake" for my parent's anniversary. It was $25 and I had my choice of white, chocolate or cheesecake. I ordered at 5 weeks out and will call to confirm right before we leave.

FYI-I also ordered a minnie head cake from Poly in room and it was $48 plus tax plus 18% room service charge. Had my choice of chocolate or white. The CM said they couldn't write on the cake, but would inscribe on the platter.

Just for general info...I did call the cake hotline the other day. I got through to Private Dining. I was able to order a Finding Nemo cake for our lunch at Captains Grill. It is $70 because they only do the customizing on the 10" cakes....so more for the actual cake and then extra for the customizing. But, I'm sure step-granddaughter is going to love it.

Here's the Mickey cake that we had delivered to our room at the Beach Club in June...

What bakery did you get that from and about how much was it if you remember? It is so cute! I was thinking of doing something like that and then have the message say something like From your pal Mickey or Welcome to Disney, etc. I think our kids would get a kick out of it.

I really want to try one of Disney's cakes. They sound so yummy. I just don't want to break the bank in doing so. But I'd really like to try a super yummy cake from there. We will be staying at CSR so I don't know if their bakery makes cakes as good as GF. We do have a dinner at 1900PF midweek we could get a cake for.

The cake came out awesome..TFS

Just called Poly Private Dining and ordered a cake to celebrate our 10th Anniversary - I ordered a 8" chocolate cake w/chocolate filling and the mickey/minnie wedding topper - they only offered me vanilla/vanilla or chocolate/chocolate and I figured the white chocolate figure would look better on the chocolate cake - they will deliver it to our room the day after we check in. Hope it turns out nice, it's a surprise for my dh and my girls!

We will be celebrating my daughters b-Day in Sept. at CRT but she doesn't know we have ressies yet. I thought about having a castle cake delivered to the GFC the night before our Breakfast at CRT with a note attached to the cake inviting my daughter to the castle for her b-day. Has anyone ever had any experiences like this? Do you think this can be done?

Does anyone know if there is a list of fillings available for the cakes? I know cake flavors are white and chocolate. And I've seen some say things like raspberry mouse, white chocolate mouse, but wondered if there is a list of all fillings to choose from. (GF bakery is who we'll use)

I got the ok from DH to order a special cake. I'm so excited. He said I can spend up to $45 which I never thought he would. Woo Hoo. I love fondant if it's homemade so I'll have to ask them if they make it or buy it premade.

I'm so excited we'll get to try a special cake!

I'm trying to think of a good cake idea for our DS 16th b-day. We have ADR's at Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner (he loves steak!).

He plays guitar and was thinking of something along those lines or something like RNRC. Has anyone ordered a cake like that? Any suggestions????

Thanks!

I called the phone number for Magic Kingdom-Liberty Tree Tavern got a phone message saying leave your name and number and they will get back to you. I tried the email address listed in Post #1 and it got sent back with error message. I even tried it again and made sure I looked to see that the email address was correct, which it was. So I still need to order a cake for the Liberty Tree Tavern for our Tuesday, August 26th reservation. I just haven't had any luck yet. We are celebrating our 2 youngest children's birthday even though they are the beginning of September.
