Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

We are going down to Disney from Aug. 24 to Aug. 31st. My youngest son's birthday is Sept. 2nd and my daughter is Sept. 13th. We want to celebrate their birthday's while there. We want to order a surprise cake for the 2 of them at Liberty Tree Tavern. If I am right the cake will come from the MK Main Street Bakery. Now, it seems to me from reading on here that I can't order the cake until 2 weeks before or is it less? I just don't know when I need to order this, so that it will show up at our ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. If anyone has any answers, it would be greatly appreciated.
:thumbsup2
I ordered all my cakes and special desserts a little more than 3 weeks out. No problem at all. I'd call now. Hope this helps.:goodvibes

Sorry I forgot to mention. Just call the cake hotline and follow the prompts. The number is on the first page of this thread.:thumbsup2

I'm sure this is somewhere on this thread, but the number for Poly Private Dining is: 407.824.2165. I tried the cake hotline, but wasn't an option and the Poly number listed on post #1 is the general number.

I ordered a Star Wars cake for DS's Bday in September. CM was very efficient and knew all of the options. Let's just hope it gets to the room. I will post a pic when we get back.

You can call even today to order and then confirm a day or 2 before.

I know its not exactly what you are looking for but I love this cake. It is the anniversary cake i got for my DW for our 11th wedding anniversary while dining at 1900 Park Fare. White choc. Mickey/Minnie topper w/gold accents, white choc. rose, white choc. pieces layered at the bottom of the cake, choc. scroll and white choc./choc swirled fondant. Inside was white cake w/ white chcoc. mousse. To die for. Cost was $45 in May.

I wonder if this is available without the Mickey/Minnie for a cheaper price. I LOVE the look of this cake and it looks SO yummy. But I just can't spend $45 on a cake with everything else we are spending.

Oh and at what restaurant did you get this at?

by any chance has anyone ever seen an image or had a Bambi cake made??:confused3

Have tried looking through both this thread & the old one but cannot find any Bambi cake pics.

I would love :lovestruc to have one made for me & my df for our holiday in Oct.

Also does anyone know if the Boardwalk bakery makes customised cakes or whether i would be better going with a resort bakery

Am hoping that ordering a cake will be straight forward as i ve read a few posts where people have seemed to have problems with un co-operative people at Disney  .

Sorry one more q, am i right in thinking they will not customise 6" cakes that we would have to go with a 8"?

Thanks guys :goodvibes

I was quoted $45 for the cake WITHOUT the Mickey/Minnie choc figure...was told it is an additional $30 for the figure! I think you can order a more traditional cake (buttercream icing) for closer to $30.

I love this thread! My husband and I are visiting the world for our 5th anniversary and I'm strongly contemplating ordering that Mickey Anniversary cake to have after our meal at Narcoossee's. Our wedding cake was chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries between the layers and I would love to have that again! The bakery we got our wedding cake from has closed so we can no longer get the exact cake so I'd love to surprize DH with that. Will the GF bakery allow me to customize a 6 inch cake like that or no?

I saw a Mickey dome cake on the original cake thread (pg 2, 19c I believe). Does anyone know if that cake is still available?

Two questions here....we'll be eating at Captain's Grill in the YC next month. My step-granddaughter is celebrating her birthday with a trip to NoJ. So, we're all getting together for lunch that Sat. I want to do a little something extra for her, even though she's going to be 20 and I don't know her all that well (ds has been married for just over a year and they live in Tampa). Ds says a cake with Nemo theme would be terrific.
So....has anyone had a cake done at the YC for Capts Grill and has anyone had a cake with a Nemo theme done at WDW? Just curious before I have to make the call to order it.

I saw that cake and it's the one I was leaning toward before I found the minnie cake above. No idea if it's still available, though.

I've been getting some private messages about my cake agaian and so I thought it easier to just copy and paste my original post from the last topic, hope that's ok! :)

Here goes...

I discovered this thread when i joined DIS and decided immediately that I had to have one of these cakes! i printed off some pictures of my favourite cakes from this thread, (the ones with the small castle on top being my favourite). We ordered the cake at the Grand Floridian front desk 2 days before my birthday, by filling out an order form. I showed the Cast Member helping us the pictures I had printed and she was amazed, and really helpful. I filled out the form, saying I wanted a 10" (I think it was 10", I can't really remember, but it was the size that serves 16 people if that helps), buttercream cake (fresh cream is also available), with a white chocolate castle on top and a white chocolate mickey on the side. That was literally all the information I gave, and this is what I got! I had not seen a chocolate castle that big before, and it was really beautiful. I think the frosting was just vanilla frosting, it was nice. The little dollops of frosting all around the cake are tiny mickey mouse heads. They left the cake in the room for us, with 16 plates, forks, knives and cloths, some candles and matches. Without telling me, my mother had asked them that morning to decorate the room with balloons and banners and stuff that she had bought, and they did so. They left the lights in the room dimmed really low and I nearly cried when I walked in. The whole thing was beautiful and really well done. Here are some more pictures of the cake.

(the numbered candles were our own and did not come with the cake)

we paid by credit card and got the bill when we returned home. It came to $202 with a cross border handling fee, so I think the cake itself was maybe about $180. Compared to what we pay for birthday cakes over here this was not expensive, especially for something so special and beautiful. And trust me, it was huge!

ps i couldn't bring myself to eat the castle or mickey and I brought them home, they're still intact!

angela- the micky cake is just darling! can you have that delivered to the brown derby also? how much was it if you dont mind me asking! ds is celebrating his 7th bday on thanksgiving and Im debating on what kind of cake to get.. thanks

Thanks mamalle!! I am not sure if the Mickey cake is available at the Brown Derby. You would have to call the cake hotline and ask. The cost was $45 and was well worth it!!!!!!!!!!! It was soooooo good!!!!!:thumbsup2 Sorry I couldn't help more!!!!

We're getting the Mickey head cake in our room at AKL when we go in Dec. Glad to hear that it was good! Now I really can't wait for it. :rotfl:

I still think I'm going to order the castle cake for our friends when we have lunch at the grand floridian cafe (and maybe one for us too!!). That is, of course, the reason we're eating there! :rotfl2: Oh yeah and the Christmas decorations as well! :santa:

I love seeing everyone's cakes-hopefully some people will be back from their trips soon to share their pictures!
