Do you think there will be any new hotels with the Disneyland Forward expansion?

A "budget" Disney hotel would be nice, a little cheaper than Pixar Place but still more expensive than the cheap Good Neighbors. I know the "Disney bubble" effect is more of a WDW thing, as the Good Neighbors are really not much closer to the gates, but more lodging options with different themes on DLR property still wouldn't hurt. What kinds of hotels would you like to see at DLR?

I'd lay a pretty big bet on it. Although Disney has not formally announced any future plans outside the existing footprint, their description of possibilities for the new Katella/Harbor development said:

This property could be the perfect location to cater to locals, conventioneers, hotel and Disneyland Resort guests with restaurants, hotels, live music, shopping, ticketed shows and theme park experiences modeled after the popular Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort.

So not merely "hotel," but "hotels" and convention areas. Whether that would include anything less costly than Pixar Place is a good question. It might be a good business move for Disney to build a slightly lower-cost hotel.

Disney changed the DisneylandForward website after Anaheim approved their requested changes to the area's use plans. But you can see the old Possibilities section I quoted above on the Wayback Machine:

I keep saying this, that it would be a smart business move to have a somewhat more budget-friendly hotel on property. It's true that DLR's hotel situation is very different from WDW, but there are still plenty of tourists from the western states who might consider choosing a Disney-owned hotel if it was a little cheaper. DLR is primarily a locals park, compared to WDW, but for those of us west of the Rockies(in states like Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, etc.), it's still a vacation destination. It could never be as much of a bubble as WDW, but ever since DCA, they have been marketing it more and more as a mini-WDW for us westerners, and Disneyland Forward seems to continue that trend.

My ideas for future hotel themes, all of these I think could be doable for the "cheaper than Pixar Place but still more expensive than the cheap Good Neighbors" price range:
*Tomorrowland Hotel-sleek Mid-Century Modern/retro-futuristic theme. Lobby and rooms decorated with posters and art of vintage Tomorrowland attractions.
*Wonderland Hotel-Alice in Wonderland theme. Has an Alice "unbirthday tea party" character meal.
*DisneySea Hotel-aquatic, mermaidy theme. Has mini-water park in pool area.
*Toontown Hotel-kid-friendly, colorful hotel, perfect for families with kids and the young at heart.

If Disney built a budget hotel it would always be full all the time. This would cause Disney to raise the prices to the very limits of what they could get & very quickly, it would no longer be budget. I think they’d need the space to build several budget hotels if they really wanted to keep pricing low. Not only do they not have the room for that, but it just wouldn’t be in their best interest. From Disney’s perspective it would be much more logical to build another hotel at a similar level to their existing properties that routinely stay pretty full. Or possibly more DVC. All that assuming that they ever build one anyway.

Disney will build whatever will bring in the most revenue and profits with the least amount of expenditures. The majority of the hotels around Disneyland are off Resort property and that is how it will stay. No new hotels. If they wanted to build new Disney Vacaton Club villas or a small complex that might happen.

I would love to see a new hotel with rooms in the $200-400 range. I've heard World has hotels under $200, which would be amazing.

For themes, I'd love another retro Disney theme, like Disneyland Hotel. Some other cool themes would be:
Beast's castle
Main Street era
Encanto
Fantasyland
Carousel

When it comes to Disney Parks and new and upcoming hotels Disney Parks has always been drawn to visitors and the reason why they build new hotels is to help more people enjoy the parks and easy access for families taking breaks. While we had seen Disney try the budget hotel concept in the 80's with The Disney Inn in Walt Disney World I doubt a budget hotel would work for Disneyland. But one hotel that would work if it existed for Disneyland is Disney's Arabian Nights Resort and it would be Aladdin themed and the building would be a replica of the Agrabah Palace and the rooms would be Aladdin themed with Aladdin photos on the walls and tapestries and the resort would feature an Aladdin themed restaurant with an Aladdin character breakfast in the mornings and an Indian food menu for lunch and dinner while the Aladdin character breakfast would feature American breakfast items. And Aladdin and Jasmine would appear in the lobby for meet and greets autographs and photos with guests. And this resort would be a hit for Aladdin fans if Disneyland were to have it

expansions of current hotels (esp Pixar and DLH)
Another hotel or two at the Toy Story lot.
