I agree....never a good choice to do a Freddie Mercury song.....EVERYONE pales in comparison!

I hate when they do songs that I can really associate with. Late 70's early 80's were my going out to bars and dancing days. All those songs bring back memeories and it's so hard to hear them without comparing to the originals...and they all fall short.

I thought everyone did very well tonight except for Scott. When he started I thought oh my gosh that is bad really bad. Then he was really good then really bad....
I don't know what happened to Nadia. I didn't hate the song. I thought she did well but it just didn't do anything...
Constantine...I am beginning to agree he really isn't a rocker but more pop music. I also think he would be fantastic on broadway. I mean that in the best way. In Tommy, or Hair, Jesus Christ super star...........
Bo I still think he is the best!
kerry I think she did ok. COuntry is definately her thing.
Anwar he is just so cute.....and with the right song I think he would do just amazing. Not wild about the song he picked.

My thoughts-

Scott- The low notes were terrible but the chorus part was really good. Weird. Needs to stop back talking Simon ASAP.
Dh just said Scott's singing to Paula....She's gone, she's gone...what went wrong.....bawhahaha!

I thought Constantine did great with his song. I still think he is smary, but he is doing really well.

I know what you mean about Constantine, it's those "eyes" he makes at the camera. Sometimes I can't even watch.

Okay, I am paraphrasing because I can't rewind (taping Amazing Race right now - still using the old-fashioned vcr ) but when Simon started to say something about Scott's performance... Paula interrupted... said what do you think? ... and Scott said something to affect that he is up there in front of millions, so he is already a star...

I thouight it was a little brazen on Scott's part.

I will post exactly what he said much later time when dh gets home from work and we can watch the tape together.

My thoughts:

Nadia - She was a fave at the beginning, but honestly, I think I'm over her. Sure, I think she's kinda hot, but I'd kinda like singers that I like to sound good. I've grown past her growly nature. Now, don't get me wrong, if she stays in, I'll be happy, but at this point, I won't be happy if "she's gone" (ooh...premonitions of Scott).

Bo - Once again, like Nadia, a fave at the beginning, but he's slipped the past couple weeks. I really didn't like him all that much tonight.

Anwar - Have never liked him and tonight didn't change that. I think he whines when he sings and it just doesn't appeal to me at all. Plus, I HATE that song!

Anthony - Ho-hum. He was okay, but he's really not that good. I really like the original of this song and Anthony did nothing to make me like his rendition.

Vonzell - My new favorite. She's been really great these past two weeks and, as corny as this sounds, her poise when she was in the bottom three last week was commendable and admirable. While I agree with plamtreegirl (I think it was you) who said Vonzell kind of sounded "theme park-ish," I still think she's a top contender and has shown it the past several weeks.

Scott - "He's Gone..." If only the song (with a gender-switching of the lyrics) could be prophetic. Once again, he scares me and he didn't sound all that good. Paula giving him a standing 'o' was appalling.

Carrie - Good voice, but there's something about her in the performance sense that doesn't do it for me. Although, I must say, she looked mighty good tonight.

Constantine - This is the second week in a row that I've made myself sick over the fact that I actually liked Constantine the best. As a guy in college, it makes me nauseous to like this egotistical son-of-a-gun, but I thought he embraced his corniness and sounded really good tonight. For the first time, I truly believe it could be a final two of Constantine and Carrie.

Overall, a better show than last week, but still no one stood out. I started off this season thinking everybody was pretty good, but they've all faltered in the last several weeks with the exception of Constantine (I can't believe I just said that) and Vonzell.

Simon was right on with his comment to Carrie about being a kitten trying to be a tiger.

Everyone else was forgetable.

I sooooo hope Anthony goes home. He's like the geek kid trying to be suave. Makes me want to gag -- and his skin tight pants do nothing for me.

Ok, here's my take:

Nadia - I really liked her.....until the rest of them sang. Then I kind of agreed with Simon that her song wasn't that memorable..

Bo - I loved it. I'm a fan of Southern Rock and I think he did a great job. But, I'm a big fan of his. I still don't think he wants to win this, though.

Scott - I can't stand him, but I have to give him credit for showing somewhat of a personality tonight. Parts of the song were great, but most of the song was aweful.

Anwar - He pains me. I'm so tired of his female song choices. He needs to sing something with a little meat to it. If I close my eyes, I think it's a girl singing.

Anthony - Did better this week, but I still don't like him. His accent distracts me.

Vonzell - I instantly thought of my eighth grade talent show. She sang it about that well.

Carrie - I enjoyed watching her, but she is better suited to sing country.

Constantine - I tried something this week. I listened to him but didn't look at the television. Lo and behold - I loved it! Apparantly, I'm not a fan if I have to look at him while he sings.

Paula.............as I said before, take a note from Whitney - crack is whack!

My thoughts:

Nadia- Really bad choice of song and didn't care for the outfit either. I think this was the worst I've seen her.

Bo- I think he looked in his element, but it wasn't his best performance.

Anwar- Didn't care for this performance at all.

Anthony I thought he did a great job! No he's not going to win it all, but I think he has really improved week after week as a performer.

Vonzell- Very high energy. I love this song and think she did a great job with it.

Scott- Awful - sorry he does nothing for me. Please, please go home tomorrow.

Carrie- I thought this was a great change of pace for her and a good performance.

Constantine- Excellent! I don't really care for the song, but loved the performance. Only thing that bothered me was the lighting and the glare on the camera.

My bottom 3 - Nadia, Scott, Anwar. I'm hoping Scott goes home.

I think the worse 3 were Anwar, Anthony, and Nadia. Why Nadia chose a Crystal Gayle song is beyond me. I thought Scott was rough the first verse then sounded great the rest of the song. Carrie was definitely out of her league sing Pat Benetar. I thought she looked so stiff. Constatine did pretty good though that song is my all time favorite and generally no one does it better then Queen. Bo sounded terrible. Freebird was our class song and there is no way Bo got it right. Sounded AWFUL! I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the bottom 3 tomorrow.

My thoughts-
Nadia- Sounds good but I've never heard this song, it's a bit boring. Is it just me or is her hair getting bigger each week? I love it.

Bo- Dude, I tried, I swear, but this guy does NOTHING for me. Nada, zip, zilch, nothing!

Same here. I can see the appeal, I and his singing is good but it just sounds like the same thing over and over.

Anwar- Oh Anwar I hate this song, so very much but I still like you. He sounded good, it's so hard to tell though because my hate for that song is so strong.

Unfortunately I missed most of Anwar and Anthony thanks to an amazingly annoying client calling... during Idol/dinner. Must learn not to answer the phone. I thought Anwar was okay, but didn't seem like a good fit for the song.

Anthony 1985? Man I feel old. I know he's just not the best & we're supposed to vote on voice only but I'm a giant sucker for this kid, I just like him.

I like him too, and thankfully he didn't suck as much this week as he has the past few weeks. I don't think he's going to win this thing, but he gave it a good try this week.

Vonzell- Hee hee a Footloose song. Ouch this is so Six Flags and I usually like her. Appartenly the judges heard something else, I'm confused.

Count me in the "confused by the judges" group! I thought she was good, but frankly I've never thought that song was one of the best anyway. It's a fluff song that's... well not all good.

Missed most of his performance. I must have been doing something critical, like making toast or cleaning out my voicemail. I thought that what I saw of the performance was pretty weak.

Carrie- Carrie turned into Kelly Clarkson, she looks like her tonight. I thought it was a weak performance, it didn't work for me.

I thought it was a good attempt at a harder song than she normally sings, and it worked in spots. It didn't in others. It worked better if I didn't look at her - I'm sorry but her "rocking" on stage looked painful - actually it kind of reminded me of a toddler when they're "dancing".

Constantine- This is crazy, he sounds awesome! I had to rewind it and watch it again. Best of the night by far! Wow. Is Ryan really that short or is Constantine really tall?

When I saw what he was going to be singing my first thought was NOOOO! I was prepared for a disaster. It didn't happen. No it wasn't Freddy Mercury, but nothing ever could be. He took it, he did a more than decent rendition of it and he rocked the house down.

And he's 6'3" (just for reference)

If you were a Designing Woman fan there was an episode where Carlene had a smarmy manger, took her money and booked her into a club..but turns out there was no booking when they got there. The nice club owner let her sing and that was the song she sang. It is a very slow country song. nadia punched it up a bit...but still it's a boring song.

edited to add...rather like my life if I remeber that epidsode and the song she sang during it.

I can't believe that I am actually starting to like Constantine. The turnaround started with his Partridge Family song. I don't love him but at least I don't think he is a posuer anymore.

And I like Anwar's voice but he needs to grow a "pair". Can he at least once sing a real masculine song?
