I wonder if some of them are just getting tired? The performances from most of them do seem to getting a bit lackluster. Like Bo for example. His voice is still good but the fire isn't there.

I don't know what to think about some of them.

I agree about Bo. As soon as I saw what he was singing I settled in to be "Wow"ed. I was very disappointed with his performance, more so because I had such high expectations for it. One other problem I see is that that song needs a rock band behind it not an orchestra. The quality of the music also made it somewhat bleah.

As to Scott, I think that except for the low parts he did a great job with that song. It could have been that he was nervous or something. I am sure he was told how to sing that part of the song but may have forgotten.

I understand everyone's point about Scott mouthing off to Simon but it has to be difficult standing up there every week listening to how horrendous you are.

I also think that his response may have been partly because of Nadia (if the dating thing is true). I think Nadia did a really nice job with her song and did not deserve the comments made by the judges tonight.

Also it is live, I think of how many times I have said something stupid only to think about it after and there is no editing here!!

I agree 100% on the band behind Bo's song, I think that is what did him in, it made the song sound bland.

I think Anthony had a lot more class than Scott. He's been given lots of negative feedback. He did a good performance and when Ryan asked about Simon's feedback he gave a good answer that he could learn from it. I think Vonzell has done much the same.

Scott is just way to arrogant for his own good. Sure it takes guts but that doesn't make him any more special. Give me a break.

Are you saying there are rumors that Scott is dating Nadia? :scared1: Wow I would have thought she had much better taste than that. I could see her with Constantine, but not Scott.

I think Scott sounded rather arrogant tonight. It's okay to disagree with the judges, but you can't get argumentative with them (that was one of my problems with Mikalah). I think Scott will be the next one to go, after tonight's performance.

I agree. I thought it was an arrogant & somewhat argumentative comment. He actually scares me. I half expect him to jump across the stage & land on Simon!!!

I hope he's going home tonight & if he does I sure hope there's not a "scene" with it.

Okay.. here is my take on last night (whether you wanted to hear it or not :p )

Nadia was totally boring and forgetable. Could cost her.

Bo.. excellent in his role as Southern Rocker as usual but could Simon be right? Are people going to get bored of him being so good at one genre of music? Maybe he could have stayed in the rock genre but tried something from The Who, Aerosmith or the Stones

Anwar.. Never did feel the Anwar love and that performance sealed it for me. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a great person and someone I could easily be friends with but his singing seems to be so limited to "Stevie Wonder"ish ballads. I think he will be in the bottom 3 again.

Anthony.. much better this week. I think he found his niche again and made a great song choice. Glad to see the poor kid didn't get blasted by Simon again.

Vonzell - Good singer but just didn't like her take on that song. And what was with Paula saying she sang it an octave HIGHER than Denise Williams? :confused3 Maybe the sound on my TV is wacked (or my hearing) but she sounded an octave LOWER than Denise Williams. To quote Randy, it was just awight for me.

Scott - can we say ARROGANT boys and girls? His pre song interview totally turned me off.. even without his controversial past. He sounded like an arrogant, jealous poser. What is his beef with the rockers in this competiton? He can't hold a candle to Bo or Constantine as far as being a "rocker". His performance last night was totally painful. He could not hit any of the lower notes.. I seriously doubt if he had sang that song in the audition that he would have made it to Hollywood no less the top 8. If he doesn't go tonight there is something wrong with this picture.

Carrie. Yikes I am going to get bashed for this so let me clarify first - I like Carrie and think she is an excellent singer and have voted for her in the past - BUT - am I the only one totally turned off by her half-butt performance last night? Okay, you have made it to the top 8, WHY IN GOD'S NAME do you feel like it is acceptable to screw up the words of the song you have been practicing for almost a week - and then brush it off on stage like "ehh.. I covered it"? At this point in the competition, they need to be on the TOP of their game and that includes knowing the song you chose! Not to mention she was singing the song way too fast and the band had to catch up with her several times. I was excited to hear her sing that because I thought she could blow it away, but instead I feel like she phoned it in. You know what I think? I think she is getting a swelled head from the rave reviews and she is losing her edge and it WILL cost her if she doesn't up her game. She does not deserve to go home but I think a finish in the bottom 3 might do her some good so she will put more effort in the next round.

Constantine.. Oh MAN. I was petrified for him when I saw he was doing Queen.. especially Bohemian Rhapsody.. but he nailed it! Man he is versatile! Say what you want about what he looks like or if you don't like his stage presense, but he consistantly shows week after week that he can tackle difficult songs and usually pull them off. He has yet to just have a "safe" performance and is getting better every week. I think the judges underestimated how far he would go in this competition and now recognize it. I always have said that trying to follow Freddy Mercury's footsteps is singing suicide because usually you end up sounding like a poor imitation. I absolutely love Queen and hate seeing people attempt it and butcher it. But he put enough of his own twist into it that I feel he did it justice.

So to review :teacher: My top 3 of the night: Constantine, Bo and Anthony
Bottom 3: Scott, Nadia/Anwar - toss up and Carrie (Just to shake her up and put her back on her game) with Scott going home.

I still want the top 3 to be Carrie, Bo and Constantine with Carrie winning.

I want Scott gone first, then Anthony, then Anwar, then Nadia, then Vonzell...

Well, the only 2 I was overly impressed with last night was Vonzell and Scott. Scott started off a little shaky but nailed the rest of it. And as far as his comment to Simon, I wonder how many people would have had a problem with it if it had come from one of the more popular contestants such as Constantine. I am betting a lot of people would be saying how they thought it was great if Constantine had said that to Simon, but since it is Scott, then it was such a terrible thing to do. Personally, I didn't think his comment was meant to be a smart remark and I personally believe what he said is true. He did have the guts to get up there and make his dream happen. There are a lot of people out there that could do it but are not brave enough to. I know I could not do it in a million years. I remember plenty of past performers saying smart things to Simon including Fantasia and Josh Gracin. But I don't remember them getting a lot of flak b/c of it. Oh, well, this is just one more reason for people to hate Scott I guess. I still think he was one of the best last night.

As far as Bo, HUGE disappointment. I thought awesome that he chose to do Free Bird and thought it was something he should have nailed, but he didn't. And Carrie has a great voice but needs to stick with country. She just seemed so uncomfortable moving around and almost sounded like she was screeching to me last night. I much prefer her doing country.

My choice for bottom 3 would definitely be: Anwar, Constantine, and Anthony. But I am sure that Constantine won't be there and am not sure about the other 2. That is just who I think should be there. I hope Anwar is the one to go but he probably won't be.

i spent last night after the show voting for constantine, bo and scott.

looking forwards to tonight's show

I don't like it when the contestants mouth off to the judges regardless of who it is. If it had come from Carrie, Bo, Constantine, anyone, I would be disappointed in them. Felt the same way when Fantasia and others did it.

I so agree on your comments. I love Carrie..but she did look uncomfortable. And Fantasia was VERY mouthy..but she was the favorite last year so everyone though it was funny...I always found it obnoxious. I still don't get the Constantine love thing. Even my 15 year old was yelling for me to turn the tv off when he was singing last night. I liked him last week...but his song last night did nothing for me. And Bo needs to change his routine. Walking around holding the mike stand is getting stale.

One thing I noticed about Carrie last night..... she can't dance! :teeth:

She sounded great, but I could not look at her, what was that half bent over bouncing she was doing?

Best: CONSTANTINE!!!!!!

Going Home: I don't know, I think they all were good last night, even Scott!!

Carrie - a huge disappointment last night - sounded like she was screaming the entire time. I think she knew she did a poor job.

Scott - any of the "low, quiet" parts - he was out of tune. The rest of the time, he did a good job.

Bo - What a disappointment on Freebird. I said to hubby - "when's he gonna nail it".

Vonzell - great job!

Constantine - WONDERFUL! (And normally I don't care for his voice.) I think he and Vonzell had to be the top performers last night.

Anthony - Good job, but nothing that stands out.

Anwar - too "programmed" in my opinion. He sings nice, always in tune, but boring, but that's it.

Nadia - did she sing last night? OH yeah, I thought it was horrible.

Nope she sure can't dance! Looked like she was doing a bad rendition of the twist!

Holy bad song choices, batman, I agree with Beattyfamily about something ! :earseek:

I think I need to lie down. ;)
-------
My thoughts on this week:

Nadia- Actually thought she did ok with a song I'd never heard before. I honestly just don't think she gets that this is as much a popularity contest as it is a talent contest. Picking songs that nobody has heard of just isn't a great way to make a lasting impression on the voters.

Bo- Ok, I'm a big fan of Bo's, and used to be a big Skynyrd fan (got tired of them...too much airtime on the radio), so you'd think I'd have loved this performance. Unfortunately, Simon was right again (as usual). I'm getting a little tired of seeing the same thing week to week with him. Don't get me wrong, he's a great performer and singer, and will definitely come out of this with a record deal, which I'll probably buy. Still...he needs to step things up a notch if he's going to win this competition, IMO.

Anwar- Ok, how can anybody really like this guy's voice ? Has Randy been dipping into Paula's stash ? Seriously...Anwar sounds like Marvin the Martian singing pop music. :rotfl: That's the "best singer in this competition" ? Seriously, Randy...Just Say No.

Anthony- If you think the Backstreet Boys or New Kids on the Block were the pinnacle of musical talent, then he's your guy. If you (like me) would rather gouge out your own eyes than attend a concert by one of those groups, then maybe not.

Vonzell- Not bad. Have to admit, she's growing on me. That's a tough song to sing without it seeming to become "theme parky", and she did a pretty good job with it.

Scott- Little punk needs to go. Soon.

Carrie- If you didn't watch the performance, it was good. But Carrie, dear, you are not a dancer. :teeth: Just do what you do best: stand up there, look beautiful, and let that gorgeous voice carry you to the final two. Leave the "rocking" to the people who don't look quite so out of their element.

Constantine- Ok, when I saw the song choice flash up on the screen, I thought "Oh, man...I'm about to witness an absolute train wreck". Seriously...visions of Wayne and Garth in the Gremlin were flashing through my head. Then Constantine comes out...and just flat out nailed it. :earseek: I'm a big fan of Queen, and I'm telling you right now, Freddy Mercury would not have minded Constantine's performance one bit. MUCH better than I expected...and probably the best of the night (and I'm no Constantine fan, as you could go back a hundred pages or so and see for yourself...lol).

Who should go: Scott
Who will go: Scott

I just heard on the radio that AI will be an hour long tonight. It seems that they are trying to keep people tuned in so that they don't switch over and watch "Revelation" on NBC. I can't believe they are going to stretch this out for an hour. I'll definitely TIVO it and fast forward through most of it.

I just heard about the hour show tonight too. I was liking the 1/2 hour format. Quick and painless. It will be so dragged out tonight!

Don't get me started about the TIVO ;)
What the heck are they going to do for an hour?

I was very disappointed in Bo's perfformance. I think the arrangement could have been a lot better and the band, YUK! He showed have WOW'd us.

I was very concerned about Constatine doing that song, but he did a great job.

I thought Vonzell sounded great also. The rest, yuk. How could Carrie forget the words to that song, it isn't a very hard song. It hink it was ok, but could have been so much better. I think she could have done a great job with it if she would have been more comfortable with the song.
