Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I had a half marathon on Saturday so I used that as my final training run ...
Same here. It was my first half marathon. Mine didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I finished, but the last 3 miles I was really tired, more so than in my other training runs. Ended up with a side ache and feeling too warm. I drank a lot of fluids, but I may have been dehydrated. Fortunately they had good food and even beer at the end - made everything feel better! Hoping for a better run at Tink!

Just checked the race weather for Anaheim and being cautiously optimistic. This will be my first half marathon ever! Still not quite over the trauma from the 2017 DW half... *shakes fist at Florida thunderstorms*

Yes, my DH looked at weather today as well and looks like it may be completely lovely!! Crossing my fingers it stays that way!

As pointed out to me this morning, there are now less days than there are miles until the half marathon. 12!
(and even more exciting for those of you running Fri & Sat)

Question for DL vets or locals: Do you have an recommendations for wheelchair rentals? Disney vs outside company? We still are not 100% sure on my mom being able to come but having an option for a wheelchair when she gets tired may be a way to have her join us. So I'm just in the research mode right now. It's a stamina issue (she'd be in between chemo sessions) so getting in and out of rides is fine...it's more about covering the park mileage. I've searched the boards but are very WDW heavy when it comes to recs. I'll probably post on the DL thread at some point soon.
Seems DCA is more wheel friendly so far.

:tink:Fingers still crossed and pixie dust flying that @roxymama 's Mama can make the trip!! :tink:

Thanks zelly...we just want whatever makes/keeps her healthy. We know mental health is part of it and happiness is healing, but I want it to be super easy on her if we do end up having her with us instead of being a slog for her.

we leave in a week and I have my last run this weekend, a half marathon! o_O didn't realize when I signed up for it, it was the weekend before Tink and only 2 days before we fly out......going to take is slow with a friend who is a slower pace than I and just get thru it!

took a peek at the weather and it looks good to me.....i will take it and maybe a couple of degrees warmer!

since our APs are blocked on Saturday, we were thinking of taking the ART (or uber) and going to Knott's Berry Farm -- we have never been in all the times we have been to DL and thought it might be a nice change to our usual wander around DTD and hit the pool. Any advice? It is worth it to go to Knott's for one day?

I'm running a 5k this Saturday and will on purpose go way slower than normal and collect my medal...maybe I'll get a personal worst?? :)
I hadn't thought about it until now but may be a good chance to practice taking pictures on course since I'm not very skilled at that and I intend to take pics at Tink along the way.
That's too bad about AP blackout but I think Knotts sounds like an awesome solution!

55 degrees to start is good. We want as much clouds and cooler temps as possible. If we start at 6, my goal is to be done around 845am - and I'd love the weather to not break into the 70s yet.

Come on clouds. May grey should be here. It's been no clouds and all 85+ degrees this week - way too hot!!

I love your idea! I have a half and 5k this weekend so.... maybe I'll follow your lead. Have to get good at pics before the big day. ;)

Good luck at your race!!!

I was hoping for June Gloom to come early.
We're even having high temps in the Bay Area now. Really need a cool down.

The forecast looks really nice! I just did my Galloway plan 30 minute run and it was 90 degrees out. I did a lot of walking! Plus I'm still recovering from the 1/2 over the weekend. I also have a 5K this weekend. It's an 80s themed fun run so I'm just going to take it easy and enjoy!

Has anyone ever deliberately been picked up by sweepers? I couldn't switch my registration to 10k but only want to do the miles in the park.

I haven't used the the wheelchair rentals outside of DL but my main thought is - which hotel are you in? The DL wheelchair rentals are great for getting you around the parks but they don't help with that end of day trek back to your hotel. Depending on where it's at you might want to consider an outside company. This way you'd have it for the walk back to the hotel.

Hugs to you and your mom!!

We are at the Tropicana which is super close to the intersection on Harbor where you walk to the esplanade. So that would be the distance we'd go on foot if we rented onsite. So maybe outside company would be better? We have a dr. appt tomorrow to see if going is even advised or not.

@courtneybeth Were you hoping to go with the 2:45 pacer for run/walk? She posted on a closed facebook group that I am a part of (I can PM you the name if its not allowed to be posted here.) And she's answering questions :)
(Unless you are already a part of that group and already know)

It looks like there is a scooter/wheelchair rental place right there at the Tropicana. I know nothing about them but that might make it the most convenient for you.
