Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Noob alert!

I just printed the 10K waivers for me & my 17 year old daughter. We registered at the same time and put in the same run time. My bib # is 31631 and hers is 31766. Help me understand what this means please. I thought we'd be one # apart.

Also, any idea on what the corals will be?
I think you're the 1,631st 10K bib and she is the 1,766 10K bib. I don't know how they do the numbers exactly (Maybe age group is a factor?).

I would guess corral A or B for both of you based on those bib numbers. If you're in separate Corrals and want to run together, the higher-corralled runner (you) can drop back but she cannot move up.

Super helpful, thanks!!

Last long run before the race is in the books! Now to taper, pack, and make a to-do list for the parks (rides, eats, and drinks!)

I didn't answer the QOTWeek because it's TBD - this is our first visit to DL!

On the expo map I noticed an area for APers. Does anyone know what that is about ????

In the event guide it mentioned a special gift for APers. Not sure if it'll be something super small or something good. I'm not an APer but I'm nosey, so let us know what it ends up being!

And omg it's May!!!!

Fairy Friday, Monday edition since it was a busy weekend! My must do attractions:

Disneyland: Hyperspace Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Fireworks, and Main Street Electrical Parade since I've never seen it on Main Street in Disneyland. Other must do attractions that will be closed during the weekend: Indiana Jones, Fantasmic, and long train rides around the park.

California Adventure: Soarin, Radiator Springs Racers, and World of Color

If you're following the Galloway training plan how did everyone's final long runs go this weekend? I had a half marathon on Saturday so I used that as my final training run and finished at 2:20 which was much better than I was expecting since it got hot pretty quickly. I'm now going into Tink weekend pretty confident that I'll be able to knock out a decent time, even with picture stops.

I sort of messed up on my training schedule since I was originally planning to do a half-marathon this weekend that we ended up not doing. Anyway, we did 14 miles 2 weekends ago and it went really well. Solid run at a reasonable pace, so I'm feeling pretty good about race weekend. I never care about time on my Disney races and prefer to get as many pictures as possible. I plan to really take my time and enjoy my first run at DLR.

Not following Galloway's plan, but I semi-did my Tink simulation (topped out at a 12-mile LR)...ready to gooooo!! :tinker::tinker::tinker:

I finished my longest run yesterday and it went better than expected (no fuel or water issues, no wall, no really bad mental hiccups), but now I have the giant fear of "what if that means my actual half won't be good!" But that's silly and so I'm trying to not be an anxiety artichoke.
BTW this is an anxiety artichoke (an inside joke between my sis and I) @AuntieBean

I'm not quite to taper town as I do have one more tempo run this week but then it's all smooth sailing...hopefully...cue worrying and anxiety :/ Actually one terrible run will ease my mind that my half will be ok...because I'm weird like that.

Because of travel and personal schedules - I did my longest run in this training cycle last weekend (10miles) and then 8 this weekend. Went well overall. Not decided on miles for this coming weekend - maybe 6-7?

We've also had some big yard projects the last few weekends that have been physically exhausting. So part of me hope that that combined with the long runs gives me a little boost. My legs have felt "dead" though, so I think a solid taper is needed this time around.

Question for those of you familiar with LAX. I've never flown into or out of LAX, so I'm clueless.

I got an email saying that there's some major terminal moves happening at LAX when we fly out (May 15). It talks about double-checking terminal locations and there are new buses to move between terminals and that we should plan to arrive early. 3 hours early for domestic flights.

So, do we really need to be there 3 hours early? Is the drive around 45 minutes or so from DLR area to LAX? Our flight leaves LAX at 9:10 AM, so if I follow their guidance we need to be there at 6:10 AM, so we'd need to leave our hotel by like 5:30 AM? Yuck. I mean fine we'll do that if need be, but that seems crazy to me. But, I guess LAX can be crazy right? I guess the benefit of going that early is we should beat the rush hour right?

Your flight is right at peak times for rush hour traffic getting into LA. I would plan on longer than 45 minutes getting into LAX. Usually an hour when it is not rush hour. The next thing to consider is that Monday is the first morning of the major terminal changes, so it most likely will be a mess. If it were me, I would probably leave my hotel around 6am. But, I do tend to be a worry wart about things like that.

We are flying out at 4:30pm and our car service is picking us up at 1:00pm. That to me seemed very early when I booked it, but, then understand about the terminal changes.

Thank you. I'm also a worry wart about these things and I'm okay with leaving at 6. I was just thinking 5:30 seemed too early. I'll double-check with our car service on their plans too.

For Marvel weekend they had an AP area in the expo where you could hang out and get the sticker for your bib that would let you into the AP booth at the friends and family area before or after the race. For Star Wars weekend they had no AP area in the expo. So I feel like it's an evolving thing and they're trying different stuff there? But I sincerely hope that I can once again get the AP sticker at the expo so that I can leave my pass in my car instead of having more things to carry to the race!

Interesting....I get a little "worried" every time they want to "give us" something. I just think oh boy, an AP price increase is in the works.

Thanks for mentioning this - we leave at 4pm from LAX that day and didn't get any emails yet. We'll have a rental car return too - so I guess we'll aim to be earlier than I'd planned.
