Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

My Plan:

I arrive Friday afternoon
Dinner at the Captain's Grill

Saturday Morning:
Breakfast at Cape May Cafe
Expo
Lunch of Snacks from the Lounge
Dinner - My traditional race day breakfast: Two Strawberry Pop Tarts and a 20 oz. bottle of Diet Coke. Are Pop Tarts available at WDW or do I need to bring my own?

Question,
I just printed my DH's 5k waiver and it has on the size listed at the bottom as SIZE: Yes

Any other 5k'ers have this same thing or anyone else understand what that means?
Thanks!

How do you find out what corral you have been assigned to?

Got to the rundisney website and download/print your waiver - that will have your bib number on it. I believe Corral placement is somewhere on the same page, let me know if you can't find and I'll post the link.

Just looked at mine and my sister's. Hers says Size: No and mine says Size: Yes. Hopefully we will both get t-shirts!

How easy it is to use the potty while waiting in the corrals? Do you loose your place?

Planning a nervous pee or two is always a priority of mine!

I'm gonna chime in with my TOT experience. There were porta potties, yes, on the walk down. As long as you aren't set on being near the front of your corral then the lines were manageable for these. I was at the VERY front of my corral and would have for sure lost my place. You can get back in your corral but you'd likely be near the back if you use them on the way during the walk down.

Eta: there were potties IN the corrals for TOT so I didn't lose my place at all in the actual corral. I just asked new friends to watch my stuff. Not sure if they always have potties in the corrals or if that was a new thing.

ToT was only my second disney race after the princess 2012, and i was pleased to see the porta potties in the standing corrals. That was not the case at the princess, but the princess had twice as many people. Really smart move!

From everything I have read, eating this meal for lunch won't help you out, it will just put a lot of food in your stomach. Everything I have read says it takes about 36 hours for any carbs you eat to be usable for your race.

Could be... We were told in HS to have pasta for dinner and I never questioned the timing! We had pasta for dinner the night before tink and before the last couple of our long runs though and done very well. I do NOT perform well if I am hungry so I think we'll just keep going with it since it works for us. I may take a stinger waffle w/ pbj and double shot to the starting line too since that's been my breakfast 30 min before the run. Aren't we so healthy?! Lol!

This will be my first Disney race and I was wondering if the miles are marked and easy to see.

Also, from those who have run in the past, about how many spots are there to stop and take pictures with characters?

I am so excited. Thanks for the info!

Super easy to read. Go on YouTube and look at any of the Disney marathon videos for an example. You should have no worries.

I think last time I ran it, I had a big lunch at maybe 2:30pm and then a protein bar at 7 or 8.

Got my rundisney email w final instructions & waiver yesterday finally. Of course I was way ahead of the game thx to my friends on this thread.

From earlier in the thread it seemed to say there was only one hill on the route. No other overpasses or anything as well? just that one hill?

My friend and I haven't received our final email and waivers yet, but thanks to all of you I have the information!
Thanks!

I also haven't received any emails so I'm very thankful for this board for keeping me informed!!

Yeah, I tried that but nothing. I sent an email to their contact us page and got the automated email saying they received my contact (received this in my inbox), so it's not a filter setting on my end.
