Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

I just did 4 today. After last week's 12 miler, my feet hurt for a couple of days. So, I just did a 30 min. this week and the 4 today. Supposed to go to 14 next weekend, but I was thinking 13. Why go over? :lmao: But, since my feet bothered me so much this past week, I may just do 10 to keep endurance up. I'm really not sure what to do. We're hitting the parks the week after the race. If my feet hurt like last week's 12, I may have to rent a scooter! :rotfl2: My feet were fine until I hit that 12 mark. Just want to stay healthy.

My son and I made a "Countdown to Disney" calendar last night. I googled it and cute pic popped up. It's one with Mickey's for each number on the countdown. We're crazy excited! 18 days until we leave!

Make sure you soak your feet & ankles in cold water after you run. I really think it helps. I also use the Body Shop peppermint foot lotion and LOVE it! :). Good job listening to your body and not pushing too hard. You don't want to get injured!

I'm coming from north Seattle, WA.

Question building off Sleepless Knight's question. Those who are doing the C2C, are you running with your Tink/DL medal? What pictures are people referring to when they mention wearing the 1st C2C medal? Thanks!
I'm coming from northern California, the Bay Area to be exact.

When I said pictures, I was referring to character pictures and park photos of me with my medal. For instance, after the Disneyland 1/2, I got pictures with Mickey Mouse, Princess Aurora, Chip and Dale, and Pluto and in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and Carthay Circle Theatre in DCA. This time around I'd like to get pictures with those same (and other characters) in front of Spaceship Earth, Cinderella Castle, and possibly the Sorcerer's hat and the Tree of Life if I make it to those two parks after the race. The race is near the end of my visit.

I've had a lot of fun talking with other runners before and after the race as we often identify each other by our shirts and/or medals.

Do they give the C2C medal at the finish once you have earned it? Is there a special shirt as well?

So where is everyone coming from for the race? Richmond VA here with my parents from Chapel Hill NC (my hometown!) as my touring partners.

I'm from Kalamazoo, MI and bringing 9 friends with me! 7 of us are running the 1/2 and 3 are running the 5k...

6 out of the 7 will be dressed as a character from Alice in Wonderland..(I'll be Tweedle Dum:rotfl:) We have a tinkerbell too, she didn't want to go with the theme:confused3:confused3

Come say Hi if ya see me ;)

I am coming from Oklahoma City. Not my hometown, but I have been living here nearly four years now (originally from Chicago). Only 17 days until I arrive!

:woohoo: and :cool1: for everyone as race day gets closer. Sounds like everyone is doing well and getting ready. pixiedust: for those with injuries or illness. Lots of time to be ready for our big day! :thumbsup2

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho here.

Finished my last long training run on Saturday. 15 miles on the indoor track. It worked for me for the Tinker Bell so I hope it will do the trick again. :tink:

There is a separate area to get your C2C medal at the finish line shown on the map. I've seen shirts, too, but I'm guessing that you get to buy those.

Anyone interested in doing a meet at 8:30 p.m. the night of the race like the ToT WISHers did? They had a great group picture.

We are getting close now! I have a 15 miler thus coming weekend and enough is enough until the race.

Yet, mild case of runner's knee rearing its head middle of last week. Trying to stay calm and keep my stretches in order. Ran 8 yesterday with no pain, just tightness and stuff. Dull ache started on about mile 7. Not painful but it let me know it was there.

Should be fine for half. Concerned for full in january.

I've read a lot about cold water baths/soaks, but I just can't bring myself to do it! Brrr! That seems to be the thing these days. A lot of college athletes do them. Oh, and peppermint lotion sounds wonderful. Will have to get some.

17 days! Coming from Alabama. Hey, is there a DIS board meetup planned? I'd love to meet some of you.

I'll be wearing a Cinderella running costume. Light blue Team Sparkle skirt, light blue Nike tank, silver sleeves, black choker, blue headband, and a sparkly tiara. (May chuck the blue head band if it doesn't stay in place.) And most importantly, my pink marshmallow Asics running shoes. Say "hello" if you see me. I'm in corral D.

Actually, most of the research regarding ice baths is that there are NO physical advantages to doing this, only mental ones.

There's a special place after the finish line where you show your wristband and they give you your C2C. You can buy either a C2C t-shirt or tech shirt at the Expo.

I JUST asked if there was a meet up planned! Sounds good to me. At the WWOS field? How will we know it's a DIS board group? I could see me walking in on another group!

I would probably do the same... :rolleyes1
Yes, I am interested how we will all know.

I am doing Belle in case it might be an identifier...
I have an adidas yellow tech tank, a large rose pin that is covering the adidas logo, yellow sleeves, yellow headband, yellow mini pettiskirt over white compression shorts, and my Reebok ZigLites which are mostly dark gray, but have purple and neon orange.

Would love to!!! I will be Minnie Mouse (ruffled red skirt with white dots, black shirt, ears) and DH will be dressed as a runner. :upsidedow

We live in MN, but I'm a born and bred east coast gal - NJ mostly.
I am in Corral C.

So.... I ended up leaving everything to the last minute. I have no current plan for carrying my "fuel" - was looking at SPIbelts online and wondering what everyone else uses, if anything.

I'm planning on an 7.5 or 8 mile run tonight. I have been having to ramp back up due to taking a few weeks off at the beginning of the month for medical issues. Last week I did 5.2 and it was so much harder than I wanted it to be. Since then I've been being very diligent about getting my runs in and some cross training too. I'm last week was a fluke because I was still getting over being sick and tonight will be much better! I'm planning on 10 next monday and then tapering with shorter runs. Not my original plan when I started training this summer, but it's the best I can do now (and better than not running at all).

Oh, and I'm coming from Western PA and meeting up with my college roommate who is now living in NC!
