Official 2012 Wine and Dine ½ Marathon Thread

I got my mine. Bib # 4224. I'm a little worried that will put me in C corral. I'm running a 10k in 2 weeks that I might have to bring as proof of time to move up a bit in the pack. Anyone have a guess on whether I'm right in assuming C corral? Is it about 2000 runners in each corral? I think that's what the Tink 1/2 had.

You seem to be implying C corral is bad?

^ I did not get an email, just saw a link on the wine &dine hm facebook page and it took me right to it.

My question: Does anyone know the time lapse between the start of the Corrals?
Also, my bib number is in the 300's and my husband is in the 1000's- Would that put us in different Corrals or do you think the same?

Thanks.

I have yet to see a Disney race where they split lower than 2000.

I would also like to know how they stagger the start times between corrals. Is it every 5 minutes, 10 minutes?

10:05 p.m. – Corral B Start
10:10 p.m. – Corral C Start
10:15 p.m. – Corral D Start
10:20 p.m. – Corral E Start

Just printed my waiver! Bib number 3560. Glad to be following this thread, wouldn't have known about it Also saw something about a virtual swag bag but haven't figured that one out yet. Pretty stiff this morning from my 12.5 miles yesterday. Left foot mortons neuroma is swollen but okay (had to have surgery on right foot to have the nerve removed a few years back).

I've never run more than 12 miles in prep for a half so feeling great! Only one more long run before our half!

Wow! Our bibs are 11004 and 13106! Is there a Z corral?!!

:lmao: Don't feel bad, I will be right there with you. I'm #12244. It is my first timed race, so I expected it.

We are 5856 & 5884 so the 2,000 per would make sense. I think we were in the C corral for the Tink as well and run a 12:30 mile... if there are really 22,000 that would be insane! I think Tink was 12,000 or so....

Well it was mentioned that is for the full marathon. It seems to line up with a lot of things I have been reading that it would be around 20,000 people or more. Things I read about W&D put it at around 12,000 people.

I'm super excited to run in my third consecutive Wine and Dine half! The only problem is, I have no partner to go with. Any Disney lovers out there in the same boat? Touring and enjoying the parks is just not the same when you're single.

Me too - I'm 10683. It's also my first timed race so I'm not really surprised either. I guess i'm not going to have any sweeper buffer though, so I had better get moving on my training!

Got it! Bib 7009
Which should be corral D?
All I was hoping for was a sweeper buffer so I'm over the moon. It also means I can relax & have fun at my 10k race this weekend because I don't care what the time is now.
I don't know how I'm going to get anything done in the next month - other than dreaming about Disney!

Probably going solo too. A bit of freedom is a good thing.:thumbsup2

I'm so thankful for this thread too. It's fun to come here and be around others excited for the same thing. I've never run 12 before in my life! I with you - One more long one and then we're at Disney! Little sore and tired today but nothing too bad. I'm still amazed at how to the body works and to be able to build up endurance to this level. :woohoo:

I never thought I'd do this, but I think I'm going to be like my grandma and go ahead and start packing 3 weeks early. I can't wait anymore!

Thanks to those that posted about the waivers/bib #s. I didn't get the email. Got my bib # and I'm in the 8,000's. Hubby is in the 4,000's, so he'll just fall back with me.

ashysmashy - what a great idea! My grandma is the same way and always asks me if I'm packed WAY before I've even started to think about it. But I'm already thinking and planning. My shoes and all my running stuff is going in my carry on - no way am I risking the airline losing my shoes!

I'm so grateful for this thread and message board also. I am so glad to have found all these fellow Disney runners!

Congrats on your 12.5 miler! I'm not sure I'll make it up that far before the race, but I did 11 ok two weeks ago, so I think I can get back up enough to finish 13! I'm someone who almost flunked gym class because of the "mile" fitness test - I can't believe I'm talking about 13 MILES!

I was also the last person in the “mile test” pretty much every year. I think a lot of runDisney runners fall into that category. The great thing about runDisney is that it encourages people through a FUN and healthy method to discover something about themselves that they wouldn’t ever know otherwise.

I got my bib number too.. #8384 .. well, don't know where that will place me. I just happy that the race is almost near..

Thanks. It was "just" 12! Lol Instead of the 14 on the Galloway plan in two weeks, I'll do 13. (I see no need in going over 13!) I'm still trying to figure out my reward for 12. Wish I could have a mickey ice cream. Man, I can wait to eat one. And, a Dole Whip!

That's great that you did 11 two weeks ago. I think you're still going to be able to do the race and get that medal. How are you doing?

I'm going solo too for 10 days! Whoo-Hoo...looking forward to my trip!:goodvibes

Another one with that fear checking in. I had to skip my long run this past weekend because my left knee hurt to even walk around. I have no idea what the issue was...I have never had a knee injury, I don't strain myself or anything like that. So I have been keeping off my feet as much as possible and it doesn't hurt anymore. I have a run this afternoon and we will see how that goes. I have been a bit worried since this knee mishap, especially since my pace is anywhere between 14-15 minutes.

Oh, I am SO knowing what you mean! I went to the ortho about a month ago and found out the pain in my right knee was due to losing cartilage and the start of arthritis. :furious: I was told to back off on my mileage.:lmao: With a month to go until race day? REALLY??!!?? Yeah, right...:hyper:

So now I have a brace I affectionately call "The Contraption" and have learned to make friends with aceteminophen. I'm good up to about 6 miles before it starts getting uncomfortable:(. Then I think about all those Iraqi/Afghan war amputees who are running FULL marathons and tell myself to suck it up. A little pain isn't going to kill me!:faint:
