A friend of mine won a drawing for a free pair of shoes at a running store - and she is giving them to me!! Yahoo!! (What a friend, huh?) Anyway, I am meeting her at the running store this afternoon (Fleet Feet) for an evaluation, sizing, etc, to pick them out. Any advice??

Hello and Happy Saturday Princesses princess:

Ran my first 5K today!!! So proud of myself!! It was to support Catholic schools in our area, and I finished with a time of 30.03!!! Thats the fastest I've run yet!! I average a 12min per mile pace usually! The weather was absolutely perfect this morning - low 70's, sunny skies, gentle breeze :goodvibes

Now I'm gearing myself up, I have my first 10K next Sunday!! I keep telling myself, its just double the miles and double the fun ;)

Just finished my first 10k race! My leg cramped up only .25 in to it. So I had to walk the first 2 miles. Not happy. Then came the 1.5 mile long hill!

Ended up finishing in 1:20, so not what I wanted but something to improve on!

Happy running!

Congrats Ladies!!

pjpoohbear, you are in Toronto? I am in Markham. Are you part of any Running Room?

The costumes people have come up with are fantastic! To be honest, I'm not planning on a costume. My goal is to cross the finish line, and I'm afraid messing with my costume, getting uncomfortable, or getting overheated may prevent me from reaching that goal. Everyone who dressed up looks so good though.... Maybe I'll check out the Halloween costume shops for some princessy(yes, that is a word!) accesories.

I didn't wear a costume last year, just a lot of pink. This year I'm thinking about embeslishing a tech shirt with some princessy looking things and adding that to a sparkle skirt as my costume. Nothing fancy, but something I wouldn't wear to a race at home. :rotfl:

Way to go ladies on your races today!

As for costumes, still thinking about what to do. I don't go all elaborate but a light sparkle skirt and some bling on a tech shirt sound good to me as well. I usually wear a hat when I run - and with those long stretches of road on the princess plan on doing that again, so will probably just sew on a little tiara like I did last year.

I figured out this weekend I need some new shoes.....not that my running shoes are worn out, but my everyday sneakers are. I have been having sore arches, numbness and tingling and general pain....so scared to run. DUH....I need better shoes with support, my shoes are worn out. This means need to transition the running only to my everyday shoes and get some new running shoes. I am so glad I figured that out.

Hopefully tomorrow morning won't be too hot, I am so looking forward to fall runs!

I will not be going all out but I am going to wear a baby blue team sparkle skirt with a light blue top and blue headband for my Cinderella bib color. I plan on running with the team sparkle skirt quite a bit before hand to make sure I can run with it. I also plan to run some holding my camera so I can get use to it.

CONGRATS!!!!!

Great job on the races/runs ladies!

I finally registered mere hours before the price went up. It's pretty likely that I'll be a solo runner/traveler. If anyone wants to meet up before the race let me know (I'm flying down Friday & leaving for a cruise Sunday!)!

Congrats Ladies!!

I have been shopping at the Pickering Room, but not running with them yet. I have been doing the path from Colonel Danforth Park up to Morningside park on Sunday mornings, early! Then tread-milling the two shorter runs each week.

I am thinking once I get a little faster, ok any fast :upsidedow, I will maybe do the Wednesday night Running Room group.

I am going to do the Island Girl 5k in September (& 3 times, over 7 days, 5k on Castaway in October) and I think the Running Room sponsored Ajax Snowflake 10k in December.

When is the cut off for submitting a 10k time?

Congratulations to our racers -- I hope this is the first of many such happy days for you, and you carry that feeling all the way to the Princess! Just look what you can do! Great job, and I think we all are so proud of you!

From the Run Disney website:
Proof of Time

If you do not provide proof of time at the point of registration or acquire it after you have registered, then email this information to disneysports@trackshack.com before December 1, 2011. After December 1, 2011, you will need to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth at Disney’s Fit for a Princess Expo if you wish to have your start corral placement changed. If you listed a race result as proof of time when registering online, then you do not have to do anything further.

I have signed up for a whole bunch of 5 and 10ks as well as the Whitby 10miler in November. All my friends are running in the Scotiabank Waterfront 1/2 marathon but I want to run my first 1/2 in Disney, so Tinkerbell 1/2 will be my first one
I love running with my Running Room group. The 1/2 marathon group is almost all women, figure that, and we just talk the whole time while we run.
Have fun doing the Island Girl run and have fun at the cruise. I'll be on the Dream in December, will definitely try the Castaway 5k as well.

That is such an awesome time!! Congrats!! Way to pull thru even with a leg cramp!! Awesome job!!! :woohoo:

Way to go Princesses! Pushing through adversity, or pushing through to get a great time both are important things! Way to go Ladies, you make us proud to be Princesses!

Just add one at a time.....by the time u get to ur first double digit u will know the Princess is doable (is that even a word?)!! Its an awesome feeling of accomplishment just to hit 12 and know u won't get swept!!!

Long run done, and I will call it a run since I actually run in sections right to the last km!

59:56, 6.39km (3.97m), 9:22/km (15:05/mile) I would love to be able to get to a 14:00 pace for a 10k, so I am on my way!

I also realized my route is basically an uphill for all but 1km, lol. I should try it the other way some Sunday. Best moment was passing the running club that goes the downhill direction further up the route then last week!
