I'm a big Galloway fan as well! I usually do 4:1 increments, and sometimes do 2:1 increments when it's too hot and I need more breaks. Sadly I can't remember the last time I ran a full mile, but I can go on for miles without completely stopping forward motion :woohoo:

Julie, what was your time for the Princess this year? I'm training with the Galloway plan, but doing 1:1 right now mainly because of the heat. I really want to icrease to 2:1 when the weather gets cooler.
Um due to my foolish training...I had plantar faciitis so I ran the Princess not in the best form, BUT I finished in 3 hours and 29 minutes! I stopped and stretched ALOT after mile 7. I was kind of hurting also....but I signed up for more fun. This go round, with my Long runs, will sLOW down!

Don't worry about time just do the miles, I was training on my long runs a little too fast.

We waited forever and a day to get a picture with Gaston. The only time I saw him was the morning of the 5K.

I would have cried if my camera didn't work. A big part of why I pay so much for Disney races is for all the photo opps to remember the wonderful time I had!

Gaston was there when I ran by on the princess. He was with Belle.

Yeah, I cried, check out my old blog.....I didn't know at that point if I would finish, BUT I DID! FUN TIMES!

I just went back and looked at my pictures and saw him. That was one of 2 pictures I didn't stop for during the race because the line was way too long. Royal Mickey and Minnie outside the castle had too long of a line too.

For those that have done the princess before, how do you carry your camera? I was thinking since I use my iphone for the interval app and music I could use that but Im afraid the pictures will not turn out good.

I do galloway too. Right now 2:1 intervals but I've started doing 2:30 run/1 walk this last week. I love it! I use to be in the mindset I couldn't run b/c I couldn't go that far and walking was not good. But now I totally see the benefit of doing intervals. I don't get bored and it makes it go by so fast. Oh and thanks to saysay I have a great interval app on my phone. It's called interval run and is really great if you're doing intervals.

I usually run with my phone as my GPS and Ipod, but since I didn't need either during the race I carried my camera in my hand instead. I have a small point and shoot digital camera, so I just wrapped the strap around my wrist to prevent it from completely coming out of my hand. I took a bunch of pictures during the race, so I didn't want to have it in a belt or pocket where I'd have to fish it out.

I haven't run it before, but if you have the latest generation iphone, it has a pretty high quality camera. You can see the photos I've taken on runs with my iphone 4 here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mamacate/sets/72157626790364481/ It's not an SLR, but who would want to run with one of those anyway? :)

I saw a bunch of people who were giving their iphones to the cast members to take pictures. I don't mind the quality of pictures on my phone either, but it's a little harder to figure out how to take pictures, and I don't want to waste time trying to explain it to the person taking the picture.

Well, I did it.:thumbsup2 - I'm comitted or probably should be:rotfl2:- just offically registered for the Princess 1/2- this will be my first. The longest run I've done so far is 5.5 miles but I'm planning to run with a local run club on Saturday and they usually run 8 miles:scared1:- hope I can keep up with the big girls. I'll be staying at Orleans Riverside and my two princes- DH and my running buddy DS will be cheering me on. DS may run the 5K. DH is into road and mountain biking and doing a ride in Oct 150 miles over 2 days from St Augustine to Daytona Beach and back- he says his ride will be much easier than my run- but I'm sure mine will be more fun!

I am a HUGE believer in the Galloway method! I've used it each time after injury layoffs and it got me from final radiation treatment to Komen 5K in 6 weeks. It's the only way at my age that I could do these distances! Also, there is hopefully still a really good 18 week training plan at the website for the Yeungling Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach. It's for beginner level runners who have not run a half before. DH and I followed it to the letter and ran 2:19 and 2:45 respectively - he's 63 and I'm 59 (turning 60 next week). Point being that it CAN be done!! Sorry I don't have a link but if you google Yeungling Shamrock Half you will get there.

Getting it in/out of my belt and getting off the interval app to get to the camera I was thinking would be a pain. I do have a little casio digital that we really do need to replace so maybe I'll try to run with it and see how it goes. I just have a thing with having something in my hands when I run but if I start doing now then hoepfully Ill get use to it. I definitely want to be able to take pictures along the way.

What intervals do you use?

I am also a Galloway gal, I run 2 minutes, walk 1 minute....the entire distance. If it weren't for the walk breaks I wouldn't like it as much I think. I started couch to 5k last july and finished the princess.

Another Galloway girl checking in.

I usually do 1/1 or 1:30/1. My best time so far is 2:49 but that was with a 2/1 for the first 8 miles and a complete walk for the last 5 (thanks to a bum shin).

Wow! You had an excellent time, especially since you walked the last 5!:thumbsup2

Well, I signed up for the half marathon a few weeks ago, but now I have air reservations and resort reservations made, and it's really feeling real! We're spending the school vacation week before there, coming in Friday, so we have free dining for the whole stay, whoo hoo! :woohoo: popcorn:: :cool1:

It looks like my spouse and the kids are going to leave Friday before the half. I have a suspicion that my daughter might change her mind and stay with me for the weekend, but as it stands now I'm going to be on my own from Friday morning until Monday morning (too expensive to fly Sunday). So I'm definitely going to want to meet up with other disfolks! :flower3: That should keep me from wandering the streets of the magic kingdom muttering to myself about the race! :rolleyes1

In case anyone else is doing the same thing with the vacation during President's day week and the princess at the end, the free dining code is J4J for moderates and deluxes, and D3X for Value (QS dining). The last day is 2/18, but as long as you check in by 2/18, you can have free dining for your whole stay. For what it's worth (in case there's someone on this thread who isn't already a discount code jockey...).

The stones on the medal are color specific to a particular princess, correct? Which princesses have already been represented on the medal? Any ideas what color/princess will be on the 2012 medal?

This is TOTALLy a guess, but since last year's was Tiana color (that really pale green) I would guess that this year's might be Rapunzel since she's the newest princess after Tiana???? Pink or purple? :confused3

I signed up last week and am BEYOND excited! It's my first half-marathon (ran my first 10K in May) and am hoping to finish under 2 1/2 hours. My hubby will be supporting me from the sidelines - he's gonna love getting up super early ;)

Had to share - just had my last PT appt and she is confident I can work up to a half by Thanksgiving! If I can get that under my belt and see my "real" time, then I will feel a lot more relaxed about the Princess - stopping for pics every 5 minutes and not really caring about time - as long as I stay ahead of the sweeper!!!!

Sparkle skirt questions:

So if I'm doing cinderella for my princess, would I do the pale blue sparkle skirt? There are 3 blue ones on their website but Im thinking it looks the closest to the blue of cinderella

Also how are the sizing on these skirts? According to their chart Im on the border between two sizes, should I go to the bigger size?

Lastly, what do wear under it? Will regular running shorts be okay?
