I have no advice cause this is what I'm afraid of for the princess!! There's gonna be groups of women all around me.

Don't fret.
Everyone doing the race is there for the same purpose. To have fun!
It's not all groups that run it.
I have family running it, but they are usually in different corrals that I am in.
So I just talk to whomever's around me.
It's fun to talk with people who have the same running + Disney interests that I do.
Be bold! And in this case, talk to strangers (they are just as nervous as you are for doing the race)!

I will probably end up doing the Princess on my own, but having done previous 5ks at Disney I am not worried about bring bored with all the pre race entertainment! Not to mention I can just step on a bus and end up where I need to be, no traffic hassles at 6AM. :)

I'm going to be solo too. I'm worried I'll be a little lonely, particularly after the race, but hopefully we can have a meetup from this thread and those of us who are solo can celebrate together!

Thinking of all of you out there running today! Good luck. I didn't get a chance to research runs in my area as I am new to running so nothing scheduled for me today. Just started running 3 weeks ago and am training for the Princess Half! Had a bad week this week with hip and back pain. Have been resting and stretching since Monday and hope to get out for a run before dinner today! I will be thinking of everyone "trotting" for inspiration. I can't remember who posted, but, thanks for the advice of picturing yourself at certain mile markers/locations on the princess course as you are training. I am going to try that today! :cheer2:

Hey, racers and runners - would like suggestions for good pre-run / race eats. I'm getting so sick of a peanut butter bagel I could spit. I have blood sugar issues, so I definitely need to eat before I run, but obviously not too close to the run. What are some good, energy-inducing breakfasts y'all can suggest?:confused3

I usually eat some sort of breakfast bar, mostly because our summer runs are super early and I can barely get up in enough time to make it, so can eat it while driving there!

I like any of the chewy Kashi bar versions, but the Honey Almond Flax is my favorite. Lately I have taken to some sort of banana bread Life bar. They make it in cinnamon raisin, too.

One of the things I like about eating the bars, besides the convenience factor, is that I can always throw my pre-race nutrition in my carry-on and don't have to worry about changing it up on race day.

My husband and I will also be running this race. It will be his first 10K race.

Great seeing you this morning Melissa...you and the hubs looked SUPER! Those hills on that race are tough I think....not the worst, but certainly not easy. The ramp at Disney is similar in UGH factor, but you only go up it one time! I love seeing fellow dis'ers at races.

Thanks stitchfan18 aka Heather for the Wish Bondi bands...that is how we recognized eachother!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

So happy the 10k is over, it wasn't horrible and I sure felt great afterwards, but man those hills sometimes wear me out. I will say, loving my 1/1 intervals. I am just as fast when I was doing 2/1. The hardest thing about the race this morning was figuring out what to wear....I def had too much on. Oh well, what do you do, it was 34 when I started and 50 when all was said and done.

Hoping everyone has a great day and that all who ran a race feel proud of getting out of bed early this holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving every one! Congrats to all who ran this morning. I did a 5 mile Turkey Chase this morning and beat my 5 mile Turkey Trot time from last weekend by 3 minutes. I was pretty psyched sine the course today was pretty hilly. At home we are along the beach and it as flat as flat can be.

I'm kinda disappointed with my 5k time this morning. I keep blaming the factors around me (strollers, lots of people, dogs, leaf piles, walkers) for the slower time. The close said 36:11 when I crossed, but I think I might have been about a minute under. There were lots of hills again (something I was hoping would not be the case..), so as a person who trains only on the treadmill, I was tired!

I hope everyone else had a great run! :) Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Princesses!!!

This morning I PR'ed in my Turkey Trot 10K, by about 2 minutes, I'm waiting for the official stats to be posted online, cause it could be 3 minutes by the chip time  I'm so excited I could pop!!!

As I was crossing the finish line, the song that came up on my MP3 was the music from the Move it Shake it parade, I felt that was very fitting since the next time I race will be at the Princess 2012 :goodvibes

Good job to everyone who raced this morning, even if your times weren't as great as you hoped, you still got out of bed, got dressed and did your best!! Now enjoy your turkey!! ;)

YAY!!:cool1: I ran 3.3 miles today. it felt good. At the beginning I didnt wanted to go but I pushed myself. Now I feel so good!

Congrats to all of you that ran today and have an awesome thanksgiving!

I had spotted you earlier and my husband kept asking are you sure and the bondiband made me sure that it was you. It is always nice to recognize people in big races. I ran into a friend at the packet pickup and then ran into our choir director at the race. I hope everything was ok with your foot. My mother also has plantar fascitis and I keep telling her that she can still run with it if she just starts slow.

It was a PR for me so I'm very happy with the run. It looks like I should move up a lot of corrals for the Peachtree. My times for 5K's have also gotten better now that my husband and I have done the longer runs (longest 9.5 miles so far). We were only doing :30/1 for most of the race but closer to 2/1 for the downhill sections.

Happy Thanksgiving. Congrats to everyone who raced today. I PR'd on my 5k this morning. :cool1: I do have a question though. Before the race I stepped in mud. Only my left foot stepped in it and my left shoe is filthy. What's the best way to clean it?

I'm bummed because these were my brand new running shoes. One shoe still looks great and one shoe looks like I've had them for years. Only I would find a way to dirty one shoe. :(

Did a PB on my Turkey 10K this morning! It was good practice for the Princess.... we were in a big mosh of people at the beginning because the 5K and 10K runners ran the first lap of the course together, and we had to get up at 5:30 to make the start!

I didn't feel the best during mile 5 (they had shut down 2 of the water stations on the 2nd lap--why not keep them for the 10K-ers??), but I made it! 1:04:41 for a 6.4 mi course. This is the last 10K I could find between now and the Princess, so it will have to be good enough to get us into Corral B.

Had Thanksgiving dinner, and now I'm ready for a nap!

Way to go on the PR. I was about a minute slower than last year, but man, I was so hot, I had to take off that long sleeve shirt without removing my vest during mile 4, def cut into my time. I blame that. I did 1:12 last year and submitted that to the Peachtree and was in Corral J. I finished in 1:17 and I was amazed how everyone in my group was around the same pace and we weren't packed together! I was just happy I finished and I have to say, the hills were trying, but overall felt really good in that race.

My foot held up great. I do tape it though when I run which helps but...what a PITA. I saw a PT last year, so have learned about what stretching to do.....just need to remember to keep it slow. I also have Superfeet in my shoes, my sports doc said a great idea for me. I might try your strategy for the next race regarding intervals.

I think I will sign up for the Jingle Jog 5k Dec 10th which is in my hood....though there is a KILLER hill...but just one otherwise flat or downhill.

You got any races scheduled? So far since last year's princess, today was as far as I have gone.

Great job! I aspire to that time. :) Way to come out of the funk and lack of water...what IS with that...and finish strong!

I think you are good for Corral B....I was in there with 1:12 10k last year.

1. WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SONG? I have this "thing" for the Move It Shake It Parade....just ask tinkeramy;) I would love to add that one as that song and parade always pump me up.

2. Congrats on your PR! Way to go.....something so excited about going faster than before.

Oh and sorry for all the posts! Just catching up.

Oh yeah, I remember reading about your celebration dance after last years' Princess!!!

Well what I did is I found the music on youtube, and I went to this: http://www.video2mp3.net/index.php and ran it thru, its not the best quality (a little scratchy) but its still the music from it!! I've done that with a few Disney park things that are not on that Official CD they make, like the music from the teacups in MK and the Move it Shake it too!! Hope that helps!! :goodvibes

You got any races scheduled? So far since last year's princess, today was as far as I have gone.

We have done a lot of 5Ks this year so the only planned race is possibly Run for the Son at our church if it is the second week of February. If not just the Princess is next.

Hey everyone! It's been a few weeks since I've been on here. After my 4 mile run on the Galloway program, I busted my ankle pretty bad. I twisted it while running and then twisted it again at work, so I was out of commission for about 3 weeks before I could run again without pain.

I had the Turkey Trot 5 mile run yesterday and I was so happy with my results! I normally walk/run right from the start, but I was able to make it 2.5 miles without walking!!!

I told myself if I made it through this race alive that I would officially sign up for the Princess 1/2. However, I am starting a new job after the holidays and don't want to miss work. Do most of you go down Friday or Saturday? And when do you come back?

What do you think?!
