hit the JoAnns sale yesterday and came home with lots of tulle to make 4 Princess skirts! So if you see 4 Princesses together in multicolored skirts say hi it's bound to be us! LOL

Right now I have some quilting to finish - then on to a proto type skirt.

Does anyone have any idea what goes on at the expo? Do they have a lot of stuff for sale?[/QUOTE]

The expo is a lot of fun, but busy, if you can I would suggest going on Friday! Last year there were a lot of different vendors selling all kinds of running stuff, clothing, shoes, holders for phones and ipods, food, supplments, etc. The BBB was there doing hair and making all the women look like princesses, motivational speakers, and more. There was a whole section of clothing and other items like cups and bags that were just for the Princess Half. It was a lot of fun, and it's well worth checking out, prices aren't horrible either, better then I expected! It's croweded and busy so go when you have time to not rush and you will have a great time!!!

Anyone have experience with Achilles tendonitis? My left achilles has been sore for a few weeks. I took 2 weeks off from running and it hasn't gotten worse... but is still sore most of the time. Ran 3 miles yesterday, (slowly, and walked all hills) - achilles was sore, but not too different from baseline. I think it may be time to have it checked out by a doc. Couple of questions...

1) Can I just go to my regular physician, or do I need to jump straight to someone with experience in sports med?

2) How long might I anticipate being sidelined if it is Achilles tendonitis? I can definitely run through the pain - it's not sharp - but the first couple of people I talked to about it said better to rest as AT can become chronic.

UGH! I am in a LAZY RUT, HELP ME!!!! LOL I ran on Wednesday of this week and that's it! The last time before that was Saturday my 6 miler. I got my period (not eating and sleeping alot), started throwing up Wednesday night (some type of bug my kids so kindly brought home), Thursday was turkey day and Fri and today is recovery from everything else. I know we all have 100 excuses but help me come out of it..... My kids were off all week from school so that hasn't helped either, hoping Monday I'll be back on track but beating myself up in the meantime about it :(

It does happen to all of us! I'm just coming out of mine actually, happened right after my Nov 5 half. I was sure I didn't want to run..(even though the race was awesome)..pure lazy I got. Took 5 days off....then finally went to gym....felt like I was starting over. So I said......"self. What do you want"...... Did all the self talk babble, got back on this site and started reading from the beginning, looked at course map and imagined myself seeing all the characters along the route, bought new shoes, bought my shorts for the princess, bought my tiara visor for race, made my reservations at POR, read some old Runners World mags, made new run goals, changed up routine a bit.....and in no time I was stoked again!!!!! Good luck and see you in Feb!!

I don't think you're alone after the holiday weekend. I'm hoping to get my eating in check again today and tomorrow, since I feel too slugish to attempt a run, then hopefully get out for a run tomorrow night or Tuesday. I might head out for a walk to get my legs moving again some more too. Good luck getting back on track!

I had this last year after spring soccer ended. I have a huge stock pot that I would fill 3/4 of the way up with cold water and ice and put my foot in it for 15-20 minutes each time. Also stretch your calves and achilles if you can target the tendon. I learned in college tight calves can make the achilles tight as well. I also wrapped my ankle at home to give it extra support when I wasn't wearing my sneakers.

Oh boy! Thanks a bunch for the details - I'm looking forward to making an afternoon of it!

No experience with Achilles Tendonitis, but right now dealing with Posterior Tibial Tendonitis and my Plantar Faciitis. Go to a sports doc since you want to run and are training for a specific event.

Good luck, no idea of how long you COULD be sidelined, but the sooner you get to the doctor the better!

Jealous jealous jealous! Wish I were more crafty!!! Please be sure to post a picture when you are done :)

Just noticed you were from Plano as well, and you play soccer? What year are you? I noticed you have the Liverpool FC crest up there - both my daughter and my son played for Jimmy Melia at one point or another :)

I play in an adult league in McKinney, though I took this Fall season off. I always end up with at least one knock during each season, and I didn't want to stress about whichever one I could've gotten. I'm still dealing with the one I picked up in the spring :headache:

That is awesome that you still play. I have been encouraging my daughter to pick her cleats back up (if nothing else but for the exercise!!!). She burned out after playing two years in college - luckily, I still have my son to watch play... I mean what ever will I do on the weekends? Haha!

Thanks for the helpful advice! Much appreciated.

I have not posted for a while, but just wanted to give folks an update. When I registered for the race, my sister and friend signed up with me. Now they have both dropped out so I will be running alone. My family is coming with me to cheer me on, but I will be on the course alone. I am staying at the Polynesian and would love to meet up with folks to catch the bus to the race. I am sure I'll go to the expo alone on Saturday. We get in late Friday night, and my kids and husband will want to be at the parks.

Even though I'll be solo, I am still really excited about the race. It's the first long distance race I've done since I had kids---and my oldest is 14! I am slowly plugging along. My longest run has been 7.5 miles and it is hard to imagine going a full 13. I am trying not to think of how far I have to go. Instead I just take it one step at a time. Thanks for all your posts. It's inspiring.

Did a PB on my Turkey 10K this morning! It was good practice for the Princess.... we were in a big mosh of people at the beginning because the 5K and 10K runners ran the first lap of the course together, and we had to get up at 5:30 to make the start!

I didn't feel the best during mile 5 (they had shut down 2 of the water stations on the 2nd lap--why not keep them for the 10K-ers??), but I made it! 1:04:41 for a 6.4 mi course. This is the last 10K I could find between now and the Princess, so it will have to be good enough to get us into Corral B.

Had Thanksgiving dinner, and now I'm ready for a nap!

Great Job!:thumbsup2 My time was 1:07 my first 10k. I think they are having another 10k at that same location new years day. Depending on the weather I may give it a shot. I am with you regarding mile 5. Ugh!

I spent my spare time quilting this weekend too!! Can't wait to see your skirts!!

Please pm me if you wanted to be added to the hotel list on post #1 of this thread!

Hope you all are well!

Michele

My mom and I are running the Royal Family 5k and are getting very excited for the marathon!

This will be our first race and we aren't runners but I hope that we can catch the running bug after this marathon!

Hope everyone is doing well with their training! :)

Hello Princesses!

I have been MIA for awhile. I had a stress fracture in my foot and was in a boot for six weeks. It left me in a funk, but I am happy to say that I am running again and just completed my first 10K on Thursday!!!
