Does anyone have any idea what the finish line area will be like for this race? I'm wondering if it will be set up for or even accessible to spectators? I hadn't thought about it before because I just assumed I was meeting up with some family at the after-party but they expressed interest in seeing us finish...then I noticed on the race website in the "spectator resources" area that they only discuss after-party tickets. No mention of bleacher viewing, Chear Squad packages....so now I'm thinking there may not even be spectators allowed at the finish...anyone have any info?![]()
The finish will be in the parking lot this year if I remember correctly so I don't think they will keep spectators from being there. They might not have bleachers set up but I think if your friends or family want to wait near the finishing area Disney won't keep them away.
I wasn't sure I'd make it for 8 this week, just b/c I missed my Thu training run, and we threw a party for my DS's 4th this weekend. Well, after having to switch to my old shoes (b/c my current ones were in the back of the car my DH had) and problems w/the GPS not picking up, I finally got started, and felt really good, so I kept going. My pace was super-slow (in the 17's), but considering missing a training run, and this being my first big increase since finding out I'm expecting, i didn't want to push it. Very proud I did 8, and it gives me hope that I can do this thing as long as my changing body is ok with it! Very encouraged that I did 8 without problem! Only a few more long runs! Hooray!
Oh, another thing, my phone battery died after 8 miles, so I don't think it will last 13.1! I run jogtracker and pandora on it. I think I'm ok to just let it go and then go on adreneline @ the race, but worried about how I will find my DH, who is a faster pace. Anyone have a good meeting spot? Finish line or is that crazy?
Normally the finish line areas are set up so that after you cross you are given your medal, pass through the area with drinks and snacks, then you take your finisher picture and then you end up in the large open area with bag check...there will also be a number of smaller tents labeled with letters of the alphabet. Just agree on a letter pre-race and meet up the corresponding tent. I have not run this particular race, but the one I have run, in addition to the 3 I was a spectator at (all were Disney races), all worked this way and I did not have a problem finding the people I was meeting up with.
Anyone from Ontario planning on doing the Run for the Grapes in St. Catharines on Sept.18th? I was thinking of doing this as my final test and long run before the Wine and Dine.
Great! I was just wondering if anyone else does something like this so close to each other...W&D was going to be my first half but I guess this one will be...at least I will know if I can do it before I get there...this one is a 3 hour time limit though...I should be ok though....hopefully!! lol
You have the same schedule as me! I am also doing the 5K with my family and then the half at night by myself...
Okay we have to meet up at the Grapes Half before getting to Disney. Send me your bib # and hopefully we can find each other. It would be great to meet another Ontario Dis'er Runner![]()
That would be awesome! I will send you a pm or post here my bib number...I plan on registering on the weekend...I want to get registered by Sept 4 to get my free t shirt! I assume after I register I will know my bib number. Sorry for my ignorance but this is my first race so not sure how this all works. yikes!
