Official 2011 Wine & Dine Half and Relay Thread

That would be awesome. Some races will email you your bib # about a week to a few days before, others don't. You will know when you pick up your race packet. I will probably not be picking mine up until that morning, but let me know when you go pick yours up.

Also check my blog, there is a post (not the cottage post) of my last race in Toronto, you can see pics of me and maybe you will recognize me ;)

I don't think I would be able to pick mine up until that morning either. I'm about an hour away from St.Catharines. When and where would they be available for pick up if I do go earlier?
I'm going to check out your blog now!

i use Runkeeper but i have no idea what street team is! i just use the App on my droid to tell me how far i've gone....i like that it talks to me.

Corey and I are street teammates on runkeeper. What is you runkeeper screen name? We will try to find and add you.

Yes, Som and I are runkeeper street team members. Er... I mean Sam. Hee hee. :rotfl:

Yeah we just need to know your username (which you would have needed to use runkeeper in the first place) and you dont have to be elite or anything.

And is it just me or has this thread gone a little quiet recently? Are we all busy working or busy training or just melting in front of our computer screens, or....?

It is quiet!! I've been a little lax in my running this week, and I think I'm only going to go 6 miles this weekend rather than the 10 I'm supposed to. We just adopted a new puppy and I need a break!

Is anyone going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party during the race weekend? I'm trying to think of a good costume. I was thinking of going as a peacock...

Great blog! I only aspire to be as fast as you..maybe one day.
The chocolate race looks interesting..If I was more organized I would have liked to try that one...maybe next year.
Hoping we can meet up some how at the Grapes...I will definitely look for you but it will have to be at the beginning because once we start I will be left in the dust behind you! lol And you will be half way home by the time I'm completed.
That's ok, I'm just a beginner runner and am just looking forward to experiencing my first race.

yeah, my DH and kids are staying at the resort too,.......cost of a sitter is just $$$$ for the night. which resort are you at? We are staying at ASSp.

I hear you about the cost of babysitting..it's crazy! We are staying at POP..too bad or else we could have gone to the race together. Since my resort is not a host resort I think I will drive to Epcot and take the shuttle to the WWoS.

I will definitely try to find some more IT band stretches, hopefully something that works for me. I still had knee pain through my two short runs this week. I'm not sure what it is, it's just general knee acheyness and a weird feeling of weakness in the knee. I've bought a sleeve from Academy and I'm hoping it helps.
Try laying on your back, take your left angle and place it on your right thigh near the knee. Then grab your right thigh with both hands and pull it towards your head. You should feel this in the left hip. Then switch legs.

Keep stretching and ice at the slightest sign of anything, and then for many runs afterwards. You don't want to have an ITBS flareup. DW had a bad one this spring.

We are planning on going to the Friday night party. I think getting back to the resort at about 1 in the morning will help me with my Saturday afternoon nap. There are 4 of us, 2 couples, all racing the half and going to MNSSHP on Friday night. We have not decided on our costumes yet. Leading ideas are either prince and princesses or star wars characters.

Emerald City Half Marathon in 2 weekends (Dublin Ohio)! Air Force Half Marathon in 4 weekends (Dayton Ohio)! Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon in 6 weekends!!!

Now, I need to get 11.5 miles in...I hope I can make it!

My family is planning on attending the Friday night as well...not sure how well it's going to work out getting up so early in the morning to make it to the 5K but we'll see. Then I have to rest during the day so I can still attend the half marathon. It's going to be a very exhausting weekend.
I think we were going to wait until much closer to the date to actually see what the weather is going to be like for the MNSSP on the Friday. If it calls for pouring rain then maybe we wont attend.
Do you think there is much chance of it selling out?

We are planning on attending the MNSSHP on Sunday night but kaj1436 we are not going to actually buy the tickets until a bit closer to the day. I'm pretty sure it wont sell out because it's still a month away from Halloween but we'll see. I don't think we will be dressing up, I have no ideas for costumes and DH is no help! It's enough to get him to do the half marathon with me!

We are going to the MNSSHP on Sunday also. tickets just came in the mail the other day. I do not think we are going to dress up might just get out faces painted in the park.

Our family is doing the party on Friday night... and then probably a little bit of park time on Saturday morning before resting in the afternoon. Time to really start planning these logistics!

I had a question for you all... I've found the race program online, but did you receive a hard-copy of it in the mail? I can't remember if I received one, I don't really remember receiving even an email about the program file.

I have received nothing about the race as of yet. Was thinking it should be coming soon.

You'll get an email with a link to the waivers a couple of weeks out. I got mine September 20th last year. I can't remember if that was the day I got the email but I checked and that was the day I created the PDF.

Nothing will come in the mail. At least I don't remember anything coming in the mail for any Disney race since the half I did in 2006.
